Well, they wouldn't have the name Chasers for nothing, and it might be called Chasers for the Keyblade reason. Then again, it could be for the chasing reason.

Well, being Keyblades, their main function seems to be that of opening and closing.

So, it's possible that they were made specifically to open/close the Doors of Darkness and Light.

To perhaps keep a balance of each, or to control their flow. Like irrigation.

Could explain why VAT's Keyblades look so un-key like. Those may have been made specifically for combat.

My guess is that "Chasers" is the "group name" [for lack of a better term]that TAV belong to.

No. He would be more like a seperate ally who would attack enemies and continuously heal your health/magic. Being the ULTIMATE CHARACTER AND SUMMON

I thought perhaps Chasers referred to the fact that MX, along with VAT, at some point or another, were chasing 'hearts of pure light'. In other words, the princesses of heart. Chasing the light. Whatever. That sort of thing.

Though Cissy's hard-to-come-by definition definitely seems legit.
