I really didn't like it either. It messes up the relationship dynamics having two of them around. Not to mention it's a major deviation from the movie and TV series.
I know Conli had to approve it but that doesn't mean it was a good story choice but then again that's just my personal feelings.

If I'm being completely honest, I would have been 100% okay with it if Hiro had allowed the first Baymax to go with Sora, Donald, and Goofy. I, personally, would enjoy a new dynamic by throwing Baymax in with the OG SDG trio. But, I do agree that Hiro keeping 2 copies of Baymax doesn't really make sense.
At face value, I can see why people feel that having two Baymax's are jarring, but really think about the movie and the emotional weight that Tadashi's Baymax holds.
Tadashi's Baymax was one of the influences for Hiro to stop bot-fighting and enrol in college, Tadashi's Baymax unintentionally helps Hiro slowly recover from his depression by following the microbot that leads to the introduction of Yokai, Tadashi's Baymax shows Hiro footage of Tadashi building him in order to remind Hiro that Tadashi lives on, and Tadashi's Baymax's sacrifice of himself to save Hiro stay true to why Tadashi built Baymax.
So yeah, the original Baymax has every reason to be saved. It's also why Hiro refuses to give Sora either Baymax's. Tadashi's Baymax is a sentimental parting gift from his brother, and Hiro's Baymax is Hiro's Baymax.

What would Sora have even done with the first Baymax? Aside from a summon(which doesn't require him to physically leave San Fransokyo) would he just take him back to Destiny Islands? Guess Baymax could help Sora's mom around the house, lol
I mean in my head he would have filled a similar role to Donald and Goofy. It also would have been interesting for Baymax to be with Sora when he and Jiminy travel to the different worlds to save the guardians. Honestly, Baymax being there would have been much more interesting and made much more since than Jiminy. To me, it just doesn’t make sense that Jiminy somehow survived the explosion that sent Sora to the Final World. But I can see Sora waking up in the KG after that bit and Baymax, sans battle suit, standing over him, reading his life report.
Or build a third Baymax to be part of the original Kingdom Hearts cast. Merlin and Flora, Fauna and Merryweather are the Disney characters that are involved with the original cast, so that sort of solution wouldn't have been out of the question either.
Well in the cartoon they have mini max and still go by big hero 6 so i don't think so

I'm still so confused why everyone considered the combat chip HIRO made as the original Baymax. I liked San Fransokyo's story for the most part, but I can't understand one bit why they acted this way.
I don't believe they even had Hiro feel guilty that his chip is why the original Baymax body got corrupted.

Yeah i dont get that either. i do understand Hiro being attached to the body, seeing Tadashi made it, but the AI Tadashi made is in his Baymax not the one Rikunort retrieved. Or did I misunderstand the ending of the movie?
You'd think the fact that baymax's "heart" was in a new vessal would be a point of interest to them, but it's kind of ignored.

I didn't get it either. Maybe the red chip has unique additional data/memory in it from the movie that only it has. So the second baymax, as near the same as it is from the original, isn't completely the same? shoot idk
or maybe Hiro is just super sentimental about old useless things of his? I know sometimes I get hoard like about some of my old useless possessions.

Anyways. I thought the world’s ending was rather cute with Sora begging to have the other Baymax. And to correct OP, Dark Baymax was destroyed. When the darkness in your heart is gone, you only have light. In this case, I’m sure (and it’s implied) that Hiro gave the original Baymax a new heart (of light).
He assumed Dark Baymax would destroy them. It was hindsight on his part.

I don't think he was interested in the heart he was creating in the experiment. He was just interested in the results and if they could actually craft and recreate a heart with the collected data. He sill had the data from the Darkubes so, in theory he probably had what he needed.
What happened to the by product of the experiment wasn't of much interest to him.
