Fears and Phobias

I think my fear of the ocean along with my refusal to play this game. This game scared the beewax out of me when I was a little kid at daycare, the first time I saw it was when our daycare was taking a trip there for laser tag.

Here are the bosses that scare me the most:

Charbydis, pretty much one of the reasons why I try to avoid watching footage of the playthrough of the level called Tartarus Deep. I think Charbydis is named after a whirlpool or a monster that creates whirlpools. I believe Charbydis used to be a nymph, but for some reason she was turned into a savage monster that would sink ships by means of creating whirlpools. Anyways, this Charbydis is no beauty and the creepy thing about him just like real like Black Devils on whom he is based, they use lights on their heads to unsuspecting prey.

There is also this guy, Leviathan, who is pretty much a Jewish sea monster from what I read off of Wikipedia. Anyways, the beast he's based off of is long extinct, but they were called Megalodon. I've seen them depicted as giant Great Whites and I think Leviathan swallowed the protagonists: Torel and Chris whole. There was also that creepy narration from Rahab.

Rahab like I stated earlier is the main antagonist of the game. He created several sea monsters, because man was invading his domain and threatening his rule as a sea god. Rahab was later defeated by Torel and Chris (mainly Chris if you are playing solo, Torel is only there for two player mode). Rahab was pretty horrifying to see fighting. I mean, this guy is way scarier than Master Xehanort.

I have an innate fear of getting older and losing control over my body and mind. I see it happening with my Dad now and it kills me. He loses his balance and falls sometimes, he doesn't get around so well, he's had strokes and heart attacks, and most recently he lost my mom.

I'm also very much deathly afraid of losing my Dad. It's something that I kind of freak out over regularly. I'm so scared of him dying before my fiance and I can get married and buy a house and take care of him for a little bit before he passes so he knows that at least -1- of his kids gives a shit about him. I mean. My Dad is everything to me (next to my child, of course.) Which means yeah, he's even more important to me right now than my fiance - even though I'm so stupidly in love with him and we have a pretty damn near perfect relationship. Anywho. Yeah. I don't know what I'll do without him. He's my hero and taking care of him is something I've always promised I'd do from a very young age.

Those are really it. Well, besides my fear of my fiance leaving me, but that's only minor. I also worry that we won't make it and then I'll be alone in the world with no one.


I need to be on anti-depressants again. Clearly. Too bad they didn't seem to work the first time I was on them.

I also had something a little frightening happen to me the other day. I had someone pass out on my couch and later he had no memory of where he was at. His brother, my caregiver had to remind him where he was at. I can't imagine waking up and being somewhere that I don't know and not being told where I am at, in other words I am scared of being kidnapped.

seriously. i only go out to shop and with a handful of groceries it's hard to defend myself.

I, thankfully, do not have any serious phobias, but I did have an odd case of hydrophobia for many years that made it so that any time I wanted to dive that I would buckle my knees and start crying. I seriously couldn't dive for the first 15 years of my life, and even now I'm very nervous about it and am still far too skid-dish about it to try it off a diving board.

Other than that, I also have a sort of fear, and yet strange fascination, with losing my parents. I already have an idea of what their funeral would be like: I'd like to display a bunch of my dad's favorite music as a kid and as an adult at his funeral, and I would play the song "Shenandoah" as a euphonium/ tuba solo for the lowering of the coffin. However, the song to follow that is going to be funeral jazz, or graveyard jazz, since I do not believe this should be an entirely sad event. As for my mother, I will do something very similar, where the song Shenandoah will be played and all of that jazz. However, I have something unique if I end up attending someone's funeral, who, unfortunately, seems to be my grandmother at the moment: I will play All Time Low's "Lullabies." Why? This song, while sad and loving, also realizes that the person who it is being sang to made a lot of stupid decisions that ruined their life and everyone else's in the process, which is what she did by smoking for over 50 years and causing herself so many thousands of dollars in medical bills. I'll put a link to the song here, as it is a really beautiful piece that deserves to be listened to, even if that place is at her funeral

So I've been on /r/nosleep because I'm a diddlying masochist. I start reading this:

I'm a trail guide and backpacker. Years & miles. Seen lots of shit. I can't explain everything I've seen in the wild but I can tell you this: you will see things out there that defy explanation &, you'll spend the rest of your life wondering about them.If you ever take word of caution, take this like your life depends on it: Don't go into the wild alone. Don't stray from your camp at night. Don't answer or seek out anything that calls you mysteriously in the night. DO NOT believe everything you see with your own eyes.
I need to repeat that, Like your life depends on it: Do not believe things, especially 'out of place' 'people', voices, or suspicious things that you see, even with your own eyes, especially when your gut & instincts are warning you.
There's something out there, something that scares grown men even like me, something we won't talk about but it's real, has no consistent form, and it lures you.
If you are a wild thing & a hunter of human beings, there's no better hunting ground than our busiest national & state parks. Note I said busisest. If you are a hunter of opportunity, then there's no better prey than the young, the weak, the old, the alone.
There's something out there, so old, so skilled, so clever & cunning, not just a being but a species, that has or have developed a specialized survival skill: luring & preying on lost or solitary humans.
Can a predator in the natural world lure, trap, summon or even hypnotize their prey? A quick google search should yield you hundreds of examples of such species in the animal, fish, bird, and insect kingdoms.
What I submit, if exist such a species, old as man, who's success depended on the successful hunting of humans, not only would it be very clever and good at it by now, but we'd have no record or memory of it in our history, just as no insect has probably ever survived an encounter with a trapdoor spider.
I submit their hunting approach is case by case. They're lure different depending on their human prey's age, strength and size, but what I submit is that our oldest natural predator, an undiscovered predator, is still opperating due to it's skill of being able to read us like a book, hit us with lure (a lure I've distinctly recognized several times, particularly at night, just beyond the glow of the campfire) lead us into a trap, to never be seen or heard from again.
People I submit a thing exists, something's out there, a species, that's not too unlike Stephen King's "It".
I've felt the lure, tasted it, smelled it. It's the smell of food when you're hungry, company when you're lonely, music where there should be none, beauty where there's danger. Nothing can explain the sensations, but deep down you'll feel it, in your gut. Something's not right. Something's waiting. Something's watching. Ask any man who's survived long enough alone in the wild. There's a Siren like hunter out there. It'll own you dead to rights, if you don't listen to your gut.
Having said that. I have questions. These stairs, do they move? There one minute, gone the next? Do others always see them? Or are they visible only to 'targets'? Do they see stairs? Or for them are the stairs another lure, like an apple pie, a warm bed, something to surrender to?
What I'm getting at are these stairs def sound like the work of the It. A cave or door might be to scary to enter, but stairs, a perfect lure for the "Search" & rescue mindset. Perhaps the vison of stairs are perfectlyt taylored to what's on 'your' frame of mind. "If I could only find some higher ground to spot that lost kid. If only I had a ladder or a..."

I seem to fear a lot of things vaguely with my anxiety. Like loneliness, abandonment, etc.

I am not fond of big spiders at all. I'm growing more able to take care of them if necessary but man I don't like the idea of them on me at all. I nearly crashed my car last month because one was in my car swinging around on a thread. NO THANK YOU GET OUT OF MY CAR NO STOWAWAYS.

I'm also REALLY not good on the idea of falling from heights. If I know I'm safe up high, I'm fine in skyscrapers and whatnot, but roller coasters and bungee jumping aren't fun to me. I'm not big on scaring myself for excitement.

I'm actually terrified of dogs. Big, small, doesn't matter. Even since a huge dog chased me around my school bus back when I was in third grade and not that much bigger than the dog (while my friends on said schoolbus laughed), I can't feel comfortable or safe around dogs in the slightest.

Oh, actually now that I think about it, I do have a specific and serious fear of abandoned, decrepit concrete buildings. I... don't really know why. I just know that one of the worst nightmares I've ever had- the kind that quite literally leaves you absolutely terrified to move a muscle- involved getting trapped in a place like that, all maze-like and filthy and... ugh. Just thinking about it, I can't. It scares me even now. And I've had dreams where I've stabbed people (in self-defense, okay?) to death or gotten shot in the head, but they have nothing on that diddlying deathtrap... I'm not claustrophobic. I don't know why I'm so scared of it.

Speaking of the paranormal.. Not long after my mom passed away and my siblings left, it was just my dad and me in his RV. I'd opted to stay with him for a bit and help out.

My mom has a music box from the 50's that her dad bought her. It hasn't been in production for a very long time and it was one of her most treasure possessions- even stating she wanted it to be buried with her when she died (she was cremated so the music box is still there).
This is it:

Some of the keys are broken and it hasn't worked at all in well over 20 years. I know this 'cuz the last time I tried to play it, I was like 5 or 6. It would barely do anything and what little it did do was very quiet.

ANYWHO. I was in the bedroom laying on their bed taking a nap. My mom's urn was somewhere in the living room of the RV and the music box was somewhere else. My dad moved the music box to put beside my mom's urn and I'm not kidding, the damn thing played almost all the way through clear as day. I thought my dad had maybe wound it up and thought nothing of it. When I got up, I asked my dad if he'd wound it up. His eyes went wide and he was like "You heard that too!?"

After my dad bought his new RV, he kinda chuckled and joked that my mom definitely must've had something to do with picking out that particular one because he wouldn't be able to move a girlfriend in even if he'd tried (it's much smaller than the old one). Immediately, the door to go outside flew wide open. The RV was still brand spanking new, so the door was a little hard to get open due to the handle sticking and stuff. There's no way it could've opened on its own.

I've never dreamed of my mom since she's passed. Maybe once or twice, but she mostly stays with my dad. I did, however, find one of her lighters in the bottom of one of my laundry hampers. A small Bic with a clear & pink plastic case around it to make it bigger & easier to find. It's one that I forgot even existed/hadn't seen since I freaking -lived- with my parents in 2012/2013 (lol like I pay attention to lighters). The laundry basket I found it in was one that my fiance already had before I moved in with him. I'd used it countless times to do laundry and I'd done countless loads of laundry- before and after her death. I lost it. It sits in the little cubby hole in the dashboard beside the steering column of my fiance's car now for good luck. And yeah, I found it in the apartment we're living in now. So like in the 8 or so months of living in NYC, never did I see the lighter until I found it in the laundry basket.
