The fourth dimension is time.
...um, what?
Avatar is already 4D. The fourth dimension is time.
4D = watching a movie, see an explosion, feel your chair shake.
THIS. THIS. THIS. THIS.I feel on the media side of things -- video game designers, movie directors, etc. -- they should focus their efforts in improving the storyline, the cinematography, and the level of audience immersion in the medium, instead of trying to make a '3D' product.
What surprises me is that despite the lackadaisical response to it, the industry remains determined to implement 3D into virtually all tech products. 95% either hate it or are apathetic towards it, and only 5% actually like it.
I want 3D porn
Like, what the fcuk is the problem? 3D is optional. You don't have to see something in 3D. It's a GOOD thing that movies and games are moving towards 3D standards, because then in 10 years when 3D technology is everything we could hope it to be, all our old shit will WORK WITH IT.
I never said there was a problem. What I said was that there was a lukewarm response from consumers, which should have dissuaded companies from further continuing down the line of development. If the majority of people don't want a feature, developing it would only incur losses to the company.
It is great that they still are developing it, because, like you said, in the future, 3D technology may improve. I just don't see the motivation for them to continue development now, when they currently stand to gain little profit from it.
when they currently stand to gain little profit from it.
I look at it like this, 3D was very popular in the 50s and 60s. This is now 2010 so why are we trying to beat a dead horse and bringing back a technology that seems somewhat regressive. Hell next thing we know cell phones are going to be in bricks cause that is the "new" cool fad.
