[FONT=&quot]It was the start of a new and prosperous era. The Northern and Southern Imperial courts were officially established and Japan’s economic status had finally begun to improve, it was excruciatingly difficult to fathom any sort of downfall in this system as everything began to advance technologically and socially. Agriculturally everything was becoming more efficient and socially acceptable as the farmlands began to recover from Japan’s previous devastating war that scarred the lands leaving everything inhabitable. And although the Northern and Southern Imperial courts often bicker and fought over the sovereignty of their respective powers everything was peaceful. Down in the domestic homeland the lower-class samurai as a half-tax policy was employed for recognizing the legality of the samurai estate, in essence the samurais were essentially being coddled.

[FONT=&quot]All that did not fall under the parameters settled by this half-tax policy were forced to pay after barely being ushered back into the system. As this continued the lower-class samurai rose in ranks and eventually were hand-picked to serve the daimyos* as a part of an official imperial army. Against such a force all in the lower class, even those samurai who remained there, were stuck there, trapped in the rigid society. The Northern Imperial court – ran by the shoguns** - and the Southern Imperial court – controlled by Emperor Go-Daigo – were oblivious to the domestic affairs and instead of resolving things decided to take matters in their own hands and engaged in open war. In order to obtain and conduct espionage acts both sides used the assassins-for-hire ninjas. The war had lasted for almost sixty years, and at the same time the samurai had assumed control as a result of this schism created from the two courts.

[FONT=&quot]Eventually the daimyos overlooking the samurai had played their hand in this and jumped into the war, the already weakened courts could not possibly be able to take on the samurai and their newfound power so as a result both courts were taken down. The daimyos had let the shoguns around but executed the Emperor. Contrary to the war’s aftermath both the ninja and samurai clans had flourished with the help of the economic support from the courts and the daimyos respectively, and although the ninjas were not given credit or even compensation for their assistance in the war – in fact one of the daimyos accused the ninjas for meddling – they had branched away for the newfound government under the daimyos.

[FONT=&quot]For a moment everything was serene, although the affects from the economic eroding from both the war and from lax taxation to the samurai was taking its toll as Japan was dropping in terms of economic prowess. Confident, however, the daimyos shrugged off the potential social downfall and continued to squeeze their control over Japan. The seeds of fear were planted after that faithful night.

[FONT=&quot]Seven daimyos had convened to discuss the commerce power they were attempting to obtain since the 1336; the meeting was secretive and clad in the veil of conspiracy as all seven of the bodies were found dead; there were no external wounds as they were poisoned.

[FONT=&quot]Naturally suspicion was aroused and the blame immediately went over to the ninjas, but rather than question and interrogate the proud ninja clans the samurais and the remaining daimyos built up an extremely negative image of the ninja. The people had it in their minds that the ninjas were cowards who would rather hide in the shadows than to face someone in an open battle, they were weak assassins who take refuge in the shadows. Due to this the ninjas were forced to take a more domestic image, they were forced to take a peaceful role as farmers or as poor laborers. Because of this there was literally nothing left to oppose the samurais.

[FONT=&quot]戦国時[/FONT][FONT=&quot]代 [/FONT][FONT=&quot](Sengoku Period) – 1467[/FONT]

[FONT=&quot]Under the veil of peace for nearly 120 years the ninja clans have grown exponentially, many clans have become juggernauts in Japan, which means there were dozens upon dozens of bloody rivalries. At the same time the samurai clans have become larger as well, they were more organized and more formal when compared to their opposites. The Iga clan became a largely prominent school of ninjutsu while the Hosokawa clan became a prominent samurai clan. The Iga clan became a huge threat for the Hosokawa clan as they were becoming much larger in numbers and in techniques, to prevent a possible overthrow the Hosokawa clan issued an open challenge to the Iga clan. Each of their respective leaders would engage in an open duel until a victor is made.

[FONT=&quot]The Iga clan was suspicious, after all, the duel was under the pretenses of a peace treaty, maiming and killing were prohibited but the Iga clan couldn’t believe it. After all of the animosity between each of the groups it was hard to believe it would all be blown over after one duel. Even though the Iga clan was only supposed to bring three of their members – the leader and two bodyguards – they planted their ninjas all around the Hosokawa home. The duel went as normal, Hattori Hanzo, a former samurai, accepted the challenge as the leader of the Iga clan while the opposite, Hosokawa Katsumoto was the one who fought for the Hosokawa family as the leader. Katsumoto became the victor but moments before he could claim his victory Hattori Hanzo fell over dead. Outraged when they searched for a probable cause of death to find out that he had bled out tragically because of the wounds inflicted by the fight the Iga members accused the Hosokawa leader of foul play and retaliated by beheading him right there.

[FONT=&quot]The other Hosokawa members came out to see the bloodied remains of their leader and his bodyguards and attack the Iga ninjas. The Iga’s reinforcements came out from their hiding spots and a battle broke out. The Iga members came out of the fight barely alive but they lost 10 of their members that night including their leader, going back home they reported the news.

[FONT=&quot]The samurais acted quickly and fiercely, they had accused the Iga ninjas for assaulting them at their own home then disgracefully running away. 1467 was the first year of war. The Hosokawa clan had grouped up with the other samurais and under the power of the daimyos they had swiftly killed off a huge majority of the ninja clans. Within the 7th year of war nearly 1/4th of the clans were killed off, within the 10th year those numbers doubled. The war ravaged on and the samurais gripped the control over Japan with an iron fist, all those who had refuted or ignored their taxes were branded as traitors and sentenced to prison life or even death.

[FONT=&quot]Today only a handful of ninja clans remain, the ever powerful Iga clan is currently reduced to pathetic numbers while on the opposite in order to garner support for the war effort the daimyos had recruited large numbers of samurais, although the samurais had saw this as disrespectful they had superior numbers and a large economic base. The Ikko-Ikki*** had conjoined with the ninja clans and even the animosity between the ninja clans were gone in an effort to avenge their ancestors. But still the numbers are stacked in favor of the royal army, it would be difficult, or even impossible, to recover.[/FONT]

Daimyos* - The feudal lords over Japan, they have extreme political, social, and economic influence over everything. They are considered the wealthy class right in front of the shoguns. Very rarely is a samurai made into a daimyo.
Shogun** - A military general, they are able to command forces and even have influence over the samurai. Once again it is rare but samurais can be made into a Shogun.
Ikko-Ikki*** - literally "single-minded leagues", were mobs of peasant farmers, Buddhist monks, Shinto priests and local nobles, who rose up against samurai rule They follow the beliefs of the Jōdo Shinshu (True Pure Land) sect of Buddhism which taught that all believers are equally saved by Amida Buddha's grace. They are organized to only a small degree. They are aligned with the ninjas.
Bushido**** - Bushido, meaning "Way of the Warrior", is a Japanese code of conduct and a way of life, loosely analogous to the concept of chivalry. It originates from the samurai moral code and stresses frugality, loyalty, martial arts mastery and honor unto death.

[FONT="]The heavily organized body of likeminded swordsmen. They are strict with rules and nobility and follow Bushido****, with Bushido they follow a code of conduct which makes them of proud nobility. Samurais are armed with two swords nowadays, or daisho, the shorter sword is usually a refined style of fighting, it takes a masterful hand to be able to fight expertly with it. So far the samurais have been unified to form a large conglomerate to fend off the combined forces of the Ikko-Ikki and the ninjas, although despite that some rivalries exist among the samurai clans. [FONT="]Large and powerful samurai clans often marry off their heirs or heiresses to combine the forces to further augment the clan’s power.

[FONT="]Samurais often put heavy emphasis on speed and technique, however higher ranked samurai often concentrates on strength and power. Samurais are extremely loyal to their clans and take their clans teachings to heart employing the techniques from their clan in their everyday life.[/FONT][/SPOILER]

[FONT="]These assassins of the shadows have been around for centuries, the first known ninjas migrated from China in order to escape the oppressive rule over there. Since then the ninjas have lived a relatively peaceful life as farmers or low-income workers, however behind the scenes ninjas have been involved in multiple clandestine jobs that involve, but are not limited to, political assassination, espionage, kidnapping, sabotage, and other black operations. Despite all of this the ninjas are very spiritual, they believe in the way of nature and as children they go out to master nature with extensive and intense training like standing underneath a freezing waterfall, jumping off cliffs or learning the ways of assassination.

[FONT="]Ninja clans are rarely very spoken about and some don’t even believe their existence, ninja clans often kidnap young children from villages to teach them the way of the ninja. More often or not the children rarely survive into adulthood. Ninjas are equipped with many weapons like shuriken, kunai, explosives or even katanas. Ninjas are often thought of as wizards or demons because of their supernatural abilities, myths about them are often raised about them being able to summon giant frogs, control elemental powers or even being able to walk on water.

[FONT="]Ki is a universal system of strength normally utilized by the ninjas. Originating from China as “internal energy” the ki system has been used to further augment someone’s strength by utilizing the personal energy from within. Ki is often used as a method of training one’s body to withstand normal attacks, back in the 1300s people often trained their inner body with ki to be able to essentially have a powerful defense. However the ninjas utilized ki as a way of life and employed it within their techniques, it is said that ki is often used to make the user at peace with themselves and nature. Ki is very difficult to utilize and people often have to spend their entire lives trying to master it.

[FONT="]In this case ki has been used in different ways that starkly contrast the old Chinese belief of inner strength. The ninjas have been able to use ki to strengthen their bodies and as a way to synchronize with nature to become an effective weapon of destruction. By using ki it is said that the ninjas are able to use supernatural abilities which in turn go along with the myths of the ninjas. Whether or not this is true is relatively irrelevant. By using ki the user can temporarily garner some sort of supernatural element, this is extremely draining and exhausting to even attempt but I shall talk about the two main types of ki.

[FONT="]Dou is a ki type in which the user expends and radiates ki. Dou users are more prominently heavy hitters; by using their ki they can become stronger, faster and more resistant in battle. However dou users utilize their ki with strong emotions and often can lose sight of the main goal and be caught in chaos. As the fight drags on the dou user actually grows stronger exponentially, whenever one encounters a dou user they [I]need[/I] to finish him fast or they will die.

[FONT="]Sei is a ki type that is the complete opposite of dou. Sei consumes ki and builds it up within their bodies to augment it. Normally sei fighters are extremely calm and relaxed; they stay back and calculate their next move rather than rush in like Dou users. Sei users usually radiate an eerie calmness whereas dou users radiate power.

[FONT="]Most ninjas are dou users while the samurais are sei users. The ninjas use ki to essentially garner up their energy and fire it in a frenzied blast, while the samurais use their ki to refine their sword techniques and become stronger that way. [/FONT][/SPOILER][FONT=&quot]

[SPOILER="Power Tiers"][FONT="]Power Tier –
[/FONT]
[FONT="]Right then, let’s get down to it. This will mostly be a realistic RP, supernatural elements will certainly exist but for the sake of the RP it will not be pushed to the levels of Naruto. Perhaps an example should be provided.

[FONT="]Let’s say Naruto is at tier 10, the ninjas in the show are able to use ninjutsu like crazy often spitting out fireballs, summoning animals or even doing heavy hitter moves like Rasengan or Chidori, this is certainly not possible here. If Naruto is at tier 10 then this RP is at tier 5.

[FONT="]Let’s take Sakura for example, she is able to use chakra flow to augment her strength to superhuman levels, in this RP Sakura would only be able to let’s say crack a thick tree slightly with her strongest punch. Rock Lee is often looked upon as the epitome of speed in Naruto, he is able to become literally undetectable when moving at full speed often crossing distances that would otherwise take 10 seconds to traverse in only 2 seconds, the fastest person in this RP will only be able to run say 20 mph in a full out sprint. Samurais are quite different when it comes to speed; they concentrate on drawing and redrawing techniques so they could attack much faster than normal.

[FONT="]A high ranked samurai would be able to slice a tree in half in one hit; they would also be incredibly fast and highly skilled in their area of expertise. A Jounin ninja is seen as the high rank of their clan, they would be able to utilize their specialization very well and be a perfect weapon of stealth. [/FONT]

[FONT="]When it comes to ki I will need to remind you that some realism will be involved in this RP. In comparison to say Naruto this RP will be at 4 when it comes to ki while Naruto is at 10. The ninjas can use supernatural techniques using ki but nothing earth shattering like rasengan or chidori. Think of it this way. Let’s say a ninja is a dou user and he radiates ki from his body to make his fist stronger, using full strength the dou ninja can essentially break a tree in half with one punch but that is only when he uses all of his ki. A sei samurai can essentially make their sword “sharper” by using ki flow to augment their swords and their techniques. [/FONT]

Clan Name – Iga Clan
Leader – Deceased, hasn’t been replaced.
Specialization – Stealth techniques and assassination. The Iga clan is extremely proficient in stealth, they are essentially able to blend into any environment even while using the most flamboyant colors, as children they are taught the ways of stealth early and are powerful assassins. Their main technique is “shadow-walking” where they are able to combine their flexible bodies, speed, and ki to essentially melt into the shadows. With shadow-walking they are able to still their heart rate and move in dead silence and they can only be seen if a light is shone on them.
Weakness – With shadow-walking they are unable to move as fast as they normally should and because they have to “slow down” their bodies in order to move in stealth their reaction times are heavily increased making this an almost last resort technique or an ability to scout. This is not a good ability to use in the middle of battle as it drains one of ki. Also the Iga members are generally not proficient in long range battles involving shuriken or long-swords.

Bio – Being one of the oldest clans the Iga grew in the early 1300s as a large political and warfare force against the daimyos. They usually take on assassinations or sabotage but the members of the Iga clan are extremely loyal to their clan and would never deter from their philosophy. Since the death of their leader the Iga clan hasn’t been able to replace their leaders so they switch out with the Jounins of the clan. The Iga clan was the first to wage war against the Samurais and the peace treaty extending to the other clans to assist in the cause.

Clan Leader – Yamamoto Seishin
Specialization – The Seishin clan was the first to bring over the philosophy of ki over to Japan from China. They were the first to be able to enhance their spirits by utilizing ki and so essentially every member of the Seishin clan is extremely proficient in ki techniques. They created elemental techniques such as producing fire from using a combination of ki and weaponry or manipulating water, however since the downfall of ninjas and ninjutus they have forgotten the old ways and now are only 1/4th of their original strength. Seishin members are generally thin but radiate pure ki because of their spiritual beliefs.
Weaknesses – Seishin members while they have powerful ki lack in stamina, they are unable to last long in fights and usually strive to finish fights relatively fast. Also Seishin members are rather weak when it comes to hand-to-hand combat, they will usually be clever with fighting and avoid direct confrontations.

Bio – The Seishin clan rivaled the Iga clan but after the rise of the Samurai they fell in numbers and became weaker as their old techniques were lost. However after the Iga clan waged open war with the samurai and the imperial army the Seishin clan ignored past disputes in order to assist the Iga clan in the cause.

Clan Name - Masaki

Clan Leader - Hitomi Masaki (Current), Rika Masaki (Next)

Specialization - The Masaki clan is especially effective as deception and seduction, a well as poisons and aphrodisiacs. While their background hints little to no combat value, they are one of very few ninjas capable of going toe to toe with a samurai. The poisons they craft range from common to rare, and antidotes for them are always kept in stock as much as the actual poison is. Within the ninja clans they are perhaps the most known, but if known by anyone, they are never crossed. Despite choosing often, but not always, not getting involved in the Ninja affairs they will join a meeting if necessary. No clan holds sway over them, and in return, they hold no sway over any other clan. However, they do produce 55% of the poisons that their fellow ninja use, bringing in a good deal of profit for them.

Aphrodisiacs however are kept among themselves and are only given for ‘special’ assignments of the utmost importance, and are highly expensive. Any attempts to cheat them or steal from them are quickly halted, as those who take such an action are dealt with quickly. Due to their deceptive nature, the Masaki clan is mainly composed of females. Males too populate the plan but cannot complete the more important assignments, those that need the charm of a beautiful woman. 80% of the clan are female.

With beauty, stealth, deception, and poisons, the Masaki are very well known among certain clans to have energy that it hard to match, as well as flexibility that no ordinary person could make use of. There are also certain techniques among the clan that they make use of. They are capable of being used and hired, for the right price.

Weakness: The Masaki use their supreme agility and flexibility to their advantage, thus they are not able to endure too many blows at any given time. They are also not as physically strong as most others.

Clan Emblem: None, if they use Emblem’s they use the Emblem of the clan that hired them to cover their tracks.

Bio: A clan respected in their field and having been a wide producer of the poison clans effectively use, the Masaki are the difference between a failed mission, or an efficient one. They were present years ago when the war was first escalated, and they survive to this day, still remaining strong, even if not pushing themselves directly into the conflict.

Clan Name: Murakami - 村上

Clan Leader: Akira Murakami [Deceased]. Though Riko Murakami was the next inline to be the Clan Leader, the complete slaughter of her clan has rendered her as the only surviving member.

Specialization: Those of the Ripple, The Murakami. The Murakami Clan members, since long ago, established themselves as one of the most deceptive and deadly clans of their eras. Their specialization in their own evolved art of ninjustu techniques and their unprecedented knowledge of the human body have put them ahead of many ninja clans; reputing themselves for their unique usage of their Ki and trademark art, the art of the Ripple. The Murakami were among the first clans to utilize their study and knowledge about the secrets of the human body with their applications of Ki which gave birth to their art of the Death Touch as well as the Ripple. Fast and agile to almost an unmatchable level, thanks to their hard cultured techniques of the Ripple art, the clan has been famed for being highly proficient in their lethal accuracy and swift ways. Precise, swift and stealth is how they deliver their mission.

Their unconventional way of training since childhood and their extremely special care in selecting their own members have resulted in making the clan one of the most powerful assassination clans of their time, despite their low numbers compared to their counterparts of the ninja clans. Each member was very carefully handpicked, keenly observed and set by an experienced master on a path of rigorous and harsh training conditions, both mentally and physically. Although not many usually survived these almost inhuman conditions of training, those that passed were praised for being exceptionally skillful and adept in their ways.

The true power of the clan members lies in their ability to adapt and blend to whatever their environment offers them, their ability to wield any weapon with acute efficiency and mastery adds an element of unpredictability to both their attacks and capabilities. For a Murakami member, anything can become literally a deadly weapon in their own hands. Furthermore, thanks to their unique usage of their Ki, the clans methods of stealthiness and speed is almost unrivaled by any other.

Weakness: Members of the Muarakami clan although remarkably swift and precise in their skills, generally lack in the strength department. They tend to focus more on delivering their strikes fast, sharp and precise to make up for the lack of their strength. This may stands as a problem when they face enemies who highly depend on their strength since they'll have to deploy elusive ways to bring their enemies down. Though they have a good amount of endurance and stamina, a fatal wound would still greatly reduce the effectiveness of their hand to hand combat against their enemies, marking a rather troublesome scenario. That's why they rather raise their dodging and running speed to avoid a slow down in their attacks or meeting their enemies attacks, defending only when the situation really calls for.

Clan Emblem: Clan symbol

Bio: The Murakami clan's roots traces back as far the late 1300s, roughly around the time the Clan first started. With Lord Oda's guidance, the first leader of the Murakami clan, the clan established itself well by the beginning of the 1400s, having garnered enough members and skill to rise among the ninja clans. By that time, it had both really grown in power and political influence, having been hired by a variety of agents and political forces that opposed the power of the daimyos. One could claim that it was their golden age. Despite their small numbers compared to the other ninja clans, The Murakami were widely famed and respected, well known for their extreme loyalty and the value of their honor, They were hardly ever crossed by any other clan.

By late 1400s, the numbers of the Murakami clan have greatly dwindled and fell due to the war waged against the Samurais. Their role had receded as a powerful political force and the Clan had resorted in sheathing their techniques and recovering. They were literally striving to survive and keep their ways of the shadow alive and existent in an atmosphere of rivalry among the ninja clans and against the rising threat of the war. After allying their forces with the Iga Clan, having considerably recovered some of their former numbers and power, the Samurais feared their rise once more especially after their newly formed bonds with the other clans.

A plot was threaded, the plan's letters gleamed until the ink dried. The Samurais simply couldn't allow it. It was the April of 1503, on exactly the 7th night, when the Samurais raided the hidden village of the Murakami under the darkness of the night, slaughtering down the majority of the clan on that bloody day and killing off their leader Akira Murakami. Those who survived were hunted and finished off in the subsequent days, till they were sure that every last member of them was no more.

The incident left the Murakami clan barely another sad story of a fallen ninja clan, and their ways and methods thought forever lost. Though once in a while, word does fly about a surviving member, or one who claims he was among their few selected numbers. But they were merely tales, just tales...unless there was what proved otherwise.

Specialization – Hosokawa sword techniques. The Hosokawa clan puts heavy emphasis on their sword techniques and often trains in the art of the quick draw. They feel it is dishonorable to allow their opponent to see their sword so they use quick draw to attack before their opponent has a chance to see their blade. Taking in the philosophy of ki Hosokawa members employ ki in their techniques often creating almost supernatural attacks.
Weaknesses – Even though they put heavy emphasis on speed their running speed is rather lacking and more often than not they will be outmatched when it comes to speed, but their sword techniques are extremely refined so watch out when meeting their blades in combat.

Bio – Being the first to wage war against the ninjas the Hosokawa clan find the ninjas as weak assassins who hide in the shadows like cowards. They hold a heavy grudge against the Iga ninjas since their original leader was killed off by them.

Clan leader: Yusuke Watanabe

Specialization: The Watanabe clan specializes in precision strikes, focusing on wearing ones foe down and aiming for areas that are vital. Capable of searching feelings and watching even many of the fastest patterns, they like to end things quickly and move along, instead of pointlessly torture a foe who has little to no chance in one on one combat with them. While this is a generalization, members can be known to taunt a foe to attack and cause them to gradually suffer as the battle is dragged out purposely, letting blood be lost and stamina burn up into nothing. Their power not only comes from their eyes, but their speed with their upper body.

Weakness: The Watanabe clan is not known for its speed foot wise, so they will not be faster than any other average joe when it comes to running speed. They are average at best, and do not train their speed. Secondly, they are mainly ones for one on one duels, and are not perfect in fights where the numbers overwhelm them. Sometimes there is too much for them to account for.

Bio: The Watanabe clan’s history is kept to themselves and isn’t well known, mostly because those that face them can’t recall what had happened when encountering them. Usually the battles end rather quickly. This clan has been around for a very long time, and had only joined together with the Kurokami clan about fifty years ago in good faith. While the Kurokami clan can appreciate the Watanabe’s precise and calculated movements, the Watanabe admire the Kurokami’s speed and agility.

With great respect for one another, the two had considered uniting as a single, powerful clan but the idea was never invoked upon. The joining of the two had never gone farther than a close partnership/friendship until just recently, when a young and beautiful, although excitable and sometimes inappropriate female heir of the Kurokami clan had joined with the handsome and skillful male heir of the Watanabe clan. The marriage widely celebrated between the clans and perhaps outside of it, the two start their new lives now in the midst of this war.

Watanabe are known for trying peace before unnecessary violence but this doesn’t pertain to everyone. While they enjoy the challenge, they enjoy fairness as well, and loath fighting unfairly unless it has to be done.

The Kurokami clan places agility and speed amongst the rest. They believe that in order to success speed is the only thing that can determine that. Training their bodies at a young age members of this clan can utilize ki flow at an early age, then they train to become flexible yet fast. Undergoing rigorous training their bodies are no stranger to dexterity as they can bend almost unnaturally.

Weaknesses:

They are weak when it comes to physical strength as they rely on their speed and cleverness to win their battles. So if one were to catch a Kurokami member they would be dead. Also when it comes to sword techniques the Kurokami clan is incredibly lacking.

Bio -

Being a rather new clan they had nothing politically but with the help of the Watanabe clan they became a large political force. They don't have much of a history and thus are very fresh only being about 100 years old. They have recently conjoined with the Watanabe clan as Yahiko Watanabe and Ui Kurokami married.

• Adrenaline Control: By controlling the natural production of adrenaline within his body, Ryou can use it in such a way that it seems as though (to him) time is slowing down. But to use this skill mass amounts of adrenaline must be reserved. It can take a whole week for his body to produce enough adrenaline for time to slow down for two minutes. This adrenaline rush also causes him to have increased strength, speed, and awareness.
• Precision Sight: A technique taught to him by his grandfather. Precision sight allows him to narrow, or lengthen his field of vision. By narrowing is vision on one target, he can take notice to everything his foe is doing. Lengthening his eyesite lets him see what a surrounding group of people are doing.

Weapons

• Bokken: A basic wooden sword used for training.
• Tachibana katana: The only remaining heirloom to the Tachibana clan. What's special about the blade is that the handle fits into the sheath, making look more like a Bokken than an actual katana.

Ryou is considered a tall Ronin, standing around six foot one with a strong build. His eyes are light blue, while his hair is brown. For clothing he wears: traditional kenjutsu-dojo styled pants, and a skin tight shirt. While this lets move quickly, he has no virtual protection from other blades. In fact the only real protection he has is the one brown piece of armor going from his left shoulder, down to his wrist.
Personality
Ryou is a keen, & sly character who suffers from inner tension. Even though he is now nineteen, he has trouble understanding other people's ethics & morality (due to his departure from society at a young age). His 'preppy' childhood caused him to become somewhat inconsiderate when viewing different situations. And even though he says he believes in equality, he also suffers from being open to common stereotypes, and can easily hate anybody. When fighting; Ryou feels a strong sense of responsibility to defend his family's honor. Such pride, & self entitlement makes him act in childish & bashful ways (with this he often lashes out towards anybody, even his own peers).
History
Ryou was born into the wealthy Tachibana clan. The Tachibana clan served as bodyguards to the feudal lords. When the Ninjas first arose his father was one of the first to be ambushed by them. Instead of fighting, his father ran away: Leaving a nobleman behind to die. Such cowardness marked the clan with shame, his parents were executed. The rest of his clan was exiled. The only exception being his grandfather, who served as a private bodyguard & kenjutsu teacher to the sons of the shogun.

Ryou was also sentenced to exile, though his grandfather secretly took him in. Claiming that the baby Ryou was not of his own clan, but instead an orphan found on the street. It was there Ryou learned the ways of the sword, and was trained to be a samurai. He almost completed his training; when his grandfather was poisoned by a ninja. The grandfather was a very respected man, so instead of just taking the land the government gave Ryou all of his grandfathers belongings... [Leading to today]
