Here's the second to last chapter of the fan fic.
The Second To Last Chapter: Hard To Say (The Used)
Gerard sat back into the queens desk. Asuka stood, once again, behind him. Gerard contacted Tatsuki once again. He set up the connection and Tatsuki was on screen. She and Gerard exchanged pleasantries before Gerard could talk. "Tatsuki, take me home," Gerard said. Asuka felt a little ache in her heart.
"Sorry about what you saw last time you contacted me. I felt it too," Tatsuki apologized. Gerard smiled with a laugh.
"Don't worry... I.. I got over it,"
"Y'know, they think you're dead,"
"I know, I know,"
"No, I'm serious. It seems the High Summoner is umm... Throwing a funeral party thing,"
"Funeral party? Is that an oxymoron?"
"I don't know. You want footage?"
"Well, alright," Gerard rolled his eyes.
Blame it on the weather, but I'm a mess
And this February darkness has me hating everyone
And I know I give you comfort, but this trouble makes me sick
And the longer I lay here I know it's harder to get up
without you.
The footage appeared on screen. Gerard watched as they moved his casket to the dock. They put his casket on a pedastal, while Yuna stood crying on a podium. Gerard watched everyone. Yuna wiped a tear from her eye. She wore a black dress. Her veil covered her face. Gerard looked at Rikku. Gippal stood by her, wrapping his arm around Rikku, who was crying as well. She too, wore a black dress with a veil covering her face.
Lose another day here
Lose another year here
I'm with you
Find me something out there that's making sense
And it's just another trend carefully hidden in your dress
And the cycles neverending and the fashions overdone
And the further that I run away, the further I'll come back
to shelter...
Yuna cleared her throat. She was about to read her eulogy for Gerard. "Ladies and gentlemen. Citizens of Spira. We have come together to commemorate a man who had shown that love is boundless. I feel it is not right for me to read this eulogy. Rikku, here, was his lover. It's only..." Yuna paused to wipe a tear from her eye, "to tell us about him,"
You are the fire on my apartment floor
Sixteen stories, I'd rather burn than fall
It isn't fate that took us all by storm
It's just the turn of a card.
Rikku quickly left Gippal. She walked slowly towards the front. Gerard watched her in despair.
Rikku... Don't cry... Gerard thought. She cleared her throat and went on the podium. "Gerard... We fought. That didn't mean I didn't love him..." Rikku pulled off her veil to reveal a smiling face. "Even if we did fight, he was... My hero," she said. She pulled a ring off of her finger and threw it at Gippal. "Sorry, dear. But, I can't," she smiled. Rikku ran out of the ceremony.
Goodbye, old friend
Goodbye, goodnight
I'll move on
You'll call it fate, I'll call it karma
We had our time, it was fun
while it lasted
Gerard feigned a smile. As the words end transmission flashed on the screen, Tatsuki came back on the screen. "You alright?" Tatsuki asked.
"Yeah. I sorta... Cried for my own funeral," Gerard joked. Asuka and Tatsuki laughed.
"Hey Asuka, how's your sister?" Tatsuki asked. Asuka pushed Gerard aside and talked into the microphone.
"I haven't heard from her in a week. Is she out of the organization?"
"Well, she wasn't supposed to take over a large part. Indeed, she is booted out. I think your Dad would have been proud of her more though. He passed on his power to her,"
"It's fine. I'm not mad. You sent me here for a reason,"
"Okay then. Gerard?"
"Yeah?"
"You ready?"
"Uh huh. Take me home Tatsuki,"
"Alright. We'll be there tommorow. Don't forget the gil Gerard,"
"It's always money with you huh?"
"It's not like I wasn't worried about you,"
"Thanks Tatsuki," Gerard said. The connection was closed. "I'll be leaving tommorow," Gerard said. Asuka frowned.
I'll look back with honor
and no regrets
I won't be mad, won't feel bad
These memories will never leave me
Don't be sad
cause life goes on, life goes on
It's getting too late
Tomorrow is here
"I only have one more day with you..." Asuka said.
