You should also look up consumer reports for all the specs and details on the best and worst cars taking into consideration price, fuel, cost of maintaining, reliability, safety, etc. etc.

They rate both new and old cars.

A Ford Taurus or Focus could work. (that, plus it'd keep my dad in his job!) Ford's got pretty good ratings and good cars. And the price isn't too bad for used ones, either.

My dad told me Fords rust. The only good fords out there are the sexy mustang cars, other than that, I agree with _Nadie_. And other than that, thanks for your advice Eternal_Dream. I'll rep you for trying to help me out.

If you want a VW go with a GTI or a Jetta. If you want a head turner get Corrado. But for reliability get a Honda Accord.

The cons for VW is the repairs cost alot depending on the problem.

Honda's can be a pain to fix which often results in taking it into a mechanic and importing parts.

Your best bet is to get something cheap and save about a grand for repairs. And make sure you take the car in for a diagnostic.

For gas mileage a focus is a good choice. I don't know much about dodges but I often hear mixed reviews. Just get a carfax report and use your head and you'll be fine.
