The Most Important KH Character Returning for MoM

Firstly forgive me if this has already been revealed in a more recent trailer. I have only watched the release trailer and have decided to abstain from watching any others.

A revelation occurred to me that if MoM is planning on showing Kairi's lost memories from her days in Radiant Garden, then one of the fandoms all time faves may make a return, Kairi's Grandmother. We may finally learn if the woman has some higher significance to the overall story once and for all! Maybe she is the Master himself!

In all seriousness I think it would be nice to have a scene of Kairi remembering her Grandma telling her the fairytale that stemmed into a whole new saga now. It'd be nice to rehear it in the context of this new era, and also it would be interesting to learn more about how this character could have some significance to this new saga.

Do you think we will get more Kairi's Grandma in MoM? In all her 3D glory?

Yeah, I definitely think there's a chance we will see Kairi's Grandmother. If they can give her a cameo in BBS they can show her in MoM. In addition to giving exposition about the age of fairytales Nomura might confirm she is the older version of a certain Keyblade Master....

seeing Xehanort strike down Kairi's grandmother. Give her a little bit of agency trying to protect Kairi (and bow into that age old trope of elderly protecting the young too) and it would explain why she never returned to Radiant Garden after KH1 (or Kairi is just the worst granddaughter ever and never went to visit her grandmother).

I know that can be explained away by Kairi "forgetting" her grandmother due to young age but I'd still feel bad for her if she's been alive this entire time, in her old age, and wasn't able to reconnect with Kairi.

Plus her dying would mean the end to all those "x is grandma" fan theory that I find just ridiculous

We see Kairi's grandmother in X, too, so hopefully she gets some screentime here! I want to know if she is dead, or if she's been restored to Radiant Garden after KH1, but Kairi hasn't had a chance to see her yet, has she?

The only time we see Kairi in present-day RG is at the very end of Re:Mind when they wake Namine up, right? No time to say hi to grandma, then.

I do look forward to the end of the "[Random female character] = Kairi's grandma" theories.

Yeah this sentiment is exactly why I posted this thread with "most important character" because I don't think any other character in this franchise has ever been so completely over hyped when it comes to crazy theories. IF she does end up being really important I am gonna facepalms so hard.

Seeing this seems to be dealing with the fall of Radiant Gardin, I feel it'd be odd for them not to include Kairi's grandma. She's the only family we know of that Kairi had at the time and it's not far fetched to assume she was with her right before the heartless swarmed little Kairi.

Ohhhh, I never thought about that as a possibility. Now I hope she is a star and that Kairi was unknowingly tethering her to the Final World. That's a great concept that I hope Nomura utilises.

Exactly, either her desire to say good bye to Kairi or Kairi's wish to see her Grandma again could have tethered her to the final world.
But I wouldn't be surprised, if Nomura wouldn't incorporate it. I mean it's been 2 years now since Kairi learned about her home world and she hasn't even attempted to find her bio-family, at least to our knowledge.

I always thought of this one to be of a parent, though I guess it could also easily be a grandparent. Especially one as involved as Kairi's seems to have been.

It would make sense for her to appear, but also leaving logical-to-include things just offscreen in the storytelling is something Kingdom Hearts keeps doing too (i.e. the continuous ignoring of the actual town part of the Destiny Islands), so I feel like there's absolutely many realities where Grandma remains unmentioned.

There was also a Star who was determined to hold onto a memory and not let it slip like the others. That memory could have been her granddaughter and the thing keeping her in the Final World

Anyway, I think it would be interesting to have Kairi's Grandma appear. Another very minor aspect of KH1 is clearly coming back in a big way (The Ark), so I don't see why she can't be used in some capacity. I'm just wondering if Nomura will pull the trigger and make her someone from KHUX, to give Kairi a bigger character/relevance boost - this would be the game to do it.
