i chose the staff just 4 an extra magic bar, but in real life i would pick the sword, it kicks ass!

Just Try every 1 of them on new saves, Its just for fun and with 3 of them you can done the game.
But if you start and want to be strong, take the sword.
If you want good magics and full heal(help a lot at hollow bastion and another bosses) take the staff.
And if you want defense, and destroy things easy and in a lot of time, and in fun, take the shield.

Well, If you know how to paly good, Its a very good choise.
