In the beginning of the two kingdom hearts games, there was an Awakening. What I dont get is why Roxas had one in the beginning. I know it was to show people how to play the game, but i think it could easily be a plot hole, because u only have one the before u get/awaken ur keyblade, and since everybody knows he used it in days, i dont get this. discuss plz. s1eyeballs oh, and if there is a reason, plz dont flame...

Well when DiZ puts him in the fake Twilight Town, I think Namine changes his memories so he doesn't remember his time from the organization. So to Roxas it is his first time using the Keyblade, because he has no memory of using it before.

You'd think it was important... the more I think about it, the more of a plot hole it seems to be.

the awakening in kh2 was the result of roxas regaining his memories as well as namine restoring sora's.

There's really no proof that an Awakening has anything to do with getting a keyblade. It's just a common assumption.
Sora's in KH1 didn't even have a keyblade in it, and he wasn't able to use the keyblade until the night of the storm.

Rather, the Dive to the Heart may simply have to do with the strength of your heart and the connection it has with others.
- In KH1, the dream may be indicative that Sora's heart has become strong enough to wield a keyblade. However, it's not like the Dive grants him the ability.
- In KH2, Roxas' Dive revolved around reconnecting with Sora, which just so happened to also give him the ability to use the real keyblade as opposed to the digitized version.
- We see the Dive again with Sora vs. Roxas, showing an inner conflict.
- Even in CoM, Riku has a Dive in which we witness him fight his inner demons with the help of Mickey.
- Ven's Dive in the beginning of BbS shows his heart connecting to Sora. Like with Roxas, this has more to do with the connection and less to do with the keyblade. Granting him the ability to use the keyblade again is an effect of the Dive, but not the purpose.
- Ven vs. Vanitas can be equated to a mix between Riku's fight in CoM (fighting his inner demons) and Sora vs. Roxas (coming to terms with oneself).

So, overall, while the examples we've seen so far deal with similar themes, there's no one reason as to why someone dives into their heart. It doesn't seem to serve a specific purpose, but basically acts as a metaphor for inner struggle/strength, or some other feat of the heart.

I guess it does make sense then, if Roxas didn't have a heart to dive into anyway.
...Except. He did. So why didn't he have a Dive showing him connect to Ven, whenever that happened...

cause roxas is sora's nobody for one. even tho vens presence in sora did affect him
and secondly tav wasnt thought out much at that point in time

I meant, at some point, Roxas does become connected to Ven's heart enough to obtain his Keyblade, and you'd think that would involve some kind of Dive.
Are you kidding. TAV have been thought out since KH2; Nomura has said this in multiple interviews...

nomura got by that by saying xion caused his obtaining of vens key
not to that extend or so i thought...or he's lying...either way doesnt matter.

Well, Xion was thought of by Kanemaki, a while after KH2 was already made, so that part of course wasn't developed.
But many other things were, which is why dual wielding exists (and we were told that the secret behind it is related to Xehanort's past waaaaay back when FM+ came out) and there are many other clues, for example the things that Xigbar says.
In other words, the catalyst for dual wielding (making Roxas not want to forget Xion) wasn't thought of, but the idea of the connection between Ven and Roxas and Sora and how it causes dual wielding has been around since KH2.)
