It really is one of those words that is extremely subjective. Depending on the context, kokoro can mean heaps of things, including 'mind'. Don't hear people saying Nobodies have no minds, though.
For the record, I didn't know it was different in Japanese and always used to use 'kokoro' for all sense of the word 'heart', and Japanese people never used to know what I was talking about. I take this to mean when they hear 'kokoro', they don't get any 'cardiac' images at all, becase they couldn't make the connection between what I meant (shinzou) and what I was saying (kokoro). (This was more than one person, too, old and young... because I am retarded. Thank god for electronic dictionaries)
