All the other Nobodies with proper names were named by Xemnas, weren't they? Hence the X in their names and so on. So why did Naminé not get "X-ed"? I know she's not part of The Organization, and where did her name cone from? As it's obviously not from Kairi or Sora?

Naminé is not a true nobody, that's why.

Her name means "Ocean wave" which ties in to the water theme of female protagonists (Kairi, Aqua etc.).

Namine isn't a member of the Organization for one thing, and second she is a special Nobody...being barely made of anything at all. She has a tiny piece of Sora's body and a bit of Kairi's soul or whatever you wish to call it...essence of Kairi.

Nami mean "ocean wave" which definitely represents her character, having "pushed" her way into Sora's memories, sweeping away the memories of Kairi. Like Sephiroth said, it also fits into the theme of the main females having water-based names.

Kai (for Kairi) - Ocean
Nami (for Namine) - Wave
Shion (for Xion) - (sound of the) Tide
Aqua - Water

Well, you are right that Namine isn't part of the Organization, but she is Kairi's Nobody. And, so her name has six letters instead of five like Kairi, her Somebody has. I think when Nomura was developing her character that he chose Nami, because it means wave in Japanese, which is pretty close to Kairi's name that means sea. And, he probably added the n with an accent over the e to make the name longer, so that it would be similar to how most of the Organization's names happen to be one letter longer than their human counterpart.

The name a nobody has doesn't have to have any significance to the name of the person whose nobody it is. The lesser nobodies don't even have individual names. The Organization is special because Xemnas gave the members their names, and he made them so they're somewhat related to their human names, with the addition of an x. Naminé could've gotten any other name since she's not an organization member. But the meaning of her name is connected to Kairi's.

I actually really like Namine's name since it doesn't tie her only to Kairi, but to Sora as well - since waves are the ocean reaching out to the sky. It's basically what she is X3;;;

Though what with their names being written in Katakana and not Kanji, name-meanings are one of the funner aspects of the series xD *looks at Beaver-Kairi*
