Ok, so I'll try to keep updates from my phone.

so just arrived and looked at song list. There are doing dearly beloved and hikari as well as a lot of stuff from ff 7 like one-winged angel.

I'm at the Whole Foods across the street, should be in shortly. If we're doing any sort of meetup it should be after the show though, gonna be cutting it close.

I'm just curious, how much was it?

They start at $100, which all things considered isn't bad but I really can't afford to be spending that much right now.

Well it's over, and it was great! Sorry we couldn't meet up destiny seeker, hope the meet-and-greet was awesome!

I actually got to talk to Shimomura during the intermission... and she declined to have a photo taken of us. :<
She said she needed to get back to her seat, she was really shy and jittery! But still so glad I got even that lol.

And I got a picture with the composer of Castlevania, Kinuyo Yamashita!

Recorded a few of the songs, I'll upload Hikari and the FF7 suite for you guys, just gotta give it a bit.
They also included a couple Western video game songs, the theme from God of War and Still Alive thrown in as a surprise at the end!

Overall, it was amazing, really glad I went. c:

Ok everybody, shows over! I got a lot of great stuff to show, and yes I did meet Yoko XD
All of it was amazing, it was the best thing I ever saw.
But since it is very late I'll give a good summary with pics later.

P.S I feel so bad I didn't get to see you. There were so many people and I was hard to get around. Still I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. We'll talk about it soon.

Super jelly about the VIP event, you'll have to tell how that went! I went to absurd lengths to try to get a ticket after I found out, and then when I saw the bouncer-dudes for the VIP area as I was walking out, I just wanted to book it in and hug Yoko even though I am pretty sure she was terrified of me.

I'll pass on the impressions, I'm sure destiny seeker is in a better position to give them considering she got the whole package, but I will say that Kingdom Hearts got one of, if not the, loudest round of applause from the audience. Go right ahead and use the video!

Here's the FF7 suite, or part of it anyway. My camera ran out of memory 3/4ths of the way through it, so I had to whip out my phone and record with that lol. And I'll have to upload that second part later, pain in the ass trying to get it off my phone.


EDIT: Also if you couldn't tell, at the beginning of the Hikari video, I was zooming in on Shimomura in the audience. Camera couldn't handle the lighting that well, unfortunately.

Sounds like the concert was fun, thanks for bringing some of the music to us!

I didn't get a photo with her, but I did get a photo with Kinuyo Yamashita (Castlevania).

She's the one in the center. Had a shawl on over that earlier.

Side note, the guy on the right, the last to leave, Noriyuki Iwadare, was hilarious, very theatrical.

In terms of when I first saw her, I had no clue she was sitting in the audience, so when the conductor pointed out, I had a difficult time telling where she was sitting but I finally caught a glimpse of her and kept looking over there toward the end of the first act, because I wanted to reach her during intermission and wanted to know where she was/going (basically stalking her).

Then I ran down there, but she had already left at that point and I wasn't sure where she had gone. So I... hung around where her seat was, chatting to a staff member and other people scouting out the composers. That's when that picture was taken. After waiting for a while, I got dejected and started walking back to my seat, and bumped into her as I was walking down one of the aisles!

Basically it was 30 seconds (if that) of me babbling about how amazing she is and how much her music inspires me, and then I asked if she could sign something and/or take a quick photo. She got a bit nervous (maybe I was too enthusiastic!) and stuttered, anxiously laughed, then turned to her body guard and said something in Japanese. He turned to me and said, "Sorry, she really needs to be returning to her seat" and they scurried off.

I was simultaneously really crestfallen and ecstatic.

If people are still interested in being filled in on what Yoko said at the little panel I went to, not a lot of it was about Kingdom Hearts. The panel at my school was more interested in how all the composers got into their careers, so as to advise our current Film Scoring students on how to approach their careers after graduating. Yoko talked about how she tries to compose at all times of the day and that when she first started out she had some disadvantages, such as the fact that she had no idea how to arrange for bass and drums. Regarding Kingdom Hearts, she talked about how she composed Dearly Beloved, and it really reminded her of the sea, and that the directors didn't really see a place for it until they were looking around for title music a while later, and decided to go with it way after it was composed. I'm sure thats pretty much common knowledge though.

In other news, Kinuyo Yamashita was kind of ditzy and says she doesn't even play video games, and I smoked a cigarette next to Hitoshi Sakimoto afterwards. Other than that, it was just pretty career advice oriented.

Yoko seems quite shy, she really expresses herself through her music ^__^ Also, she has quite an arm...I wonder what she does when she isn't composing? Baseball anyone? jkjkjk
