KEY TO THE HEART​

Prologue:

“Where am I? Who am I!?” the confused teenager said. He did not know his name or anything about him in fact. He looked around and was in a very open, wide grassy field. The wind was blowing moderately fast and his spiky black hair flew back. He was about fifteen years old dressed in a black T-shirt. He also was wearing ripped jeans and a chain around his neck with a key-shaped figurine at the end of it. His sharp green eyes gave him a cooler look that made him look younger than he was. His shoes were ripped and his legs were bruised and bloody as if he was walking far too much to his capability. He got off of the ground and felt a sharp pain in his forehead. He screamed and fell back to the ground. After the sharp pain ended, he heard a voice.
“Relax child” said the comforting voice. He sounded old, maybe around fifty to sixty years of age. His voice was rasping and rigid, but at the same time welcoming.
“Um…Who are you? Or a better question who am I!? Or..!” the teenager stopped as the sharp pain returned and he once again fell to the ground.
“You must calm down. Let me talk. You should just listen…listen very carefully. My name is…” the old man was cut off as a man dressed in a black coat appeared right in front of the teen and picked him up.
“Well…well…Who do we have here!?” the mystery man spoke. He had long blonde hair that was jagged at the end of it. He was pretty tall, probably in his late twenties. His voice sounded very cool, with a bit of a southern accent, and it seemed he knew exactly what he was doing and who he was dealing with.
“Let me go!” the teen barely grimaced because the pain was still too much for him to bear.
“Ha! Look at you! Do you even know who I am?”
“….No…I don’t think I even want to know!” the teenager spit on the mysterious man. The pain in his head slowly disappeared again as he regained most of his leftover strength.
The man wiped it off his face. “You don’t want this, boy!” he threw the teen down and put his hands out. Unbelievably, two long, black metal spears appeared in his hands. He spun them around and the one-tipped spear split into a three-tipped spear creating a total of six tips to his deadly weapons. “My assignment was to bring you in! But the boss said if you resisted,” he laughed, “I could bring you by force!!”
The villain began to charge the defenseless teenager. The teen flinched, closed his eyes, and awaited his doom. “What!?” the mysterious man sounded shocked. When the teenager opened his eyes again, he was holding a long, white blade that was shaped like a key. The hilt of the blade was blue with a small chain coming from it with an “R” at the end of it. There were various blue marks across the blade that distributed evenly. Somehow, the teen blocked the mysterious man’s attack. The man jumped back and the teen glanced down at his blade. After looking at the “R”, the boy had the same pain once again and lost concentration. The mysterious man now looked blurry. He tried to stay conscious but soon fell to the ground, out cold.
“Hmph. Hardly gave up a fight…” the mysterious man was serious for once. He went to grab the body before the teen’s blade shined a blue-white beam that blinded the man. He flinched backwards and the blade darted upwards with the teen still holding on as he flew away off of the world they were on. “Damn! He got away. Who knows where he’s going. Better report to the boss…He’s gonna be pissed….”
He started to walk away and opened a dark portal and proceeded inside.

The teen awoke to a small child looking directly at him. “Ah!” the teen yelped as he jumped back and smashed into the wall. He winced and rubbed his head. He had a headache from the strange pains he was experiencing earlier. He still could not remember anything about him. He saw his weapon next to him and wondered what it was. Was it even his? He thought it would be best not to think too much because he definitely didn’t want those pains again. He looked at the little boy who was still there standing. He had dark blue eyes and curly brown hair. He looked around six or seven and the teen wasn’t sure if he could even talk. They stared at each other for a while…Suddenly the boy yelped, “He’s awake!! He’s awake!!” as he exited the room running down the hall. The teen looked at him with his eyes wide open and scratched his head in confusion. The tiny kid ran down the hall and took a left. The teen looked around his room. It was an ordinary room with a light brown paint on the walls and a white ceiling. It was the size of a small bedroom with a dresser, a bed, and a few shelves with books and other educated objects. He lifted himself up and sat on the bed. He was dressed in a white T-shirt now and short pants that athletes would wear. They obviously didn’t fit since his pants were much higher than his knees. “Well, look who’s officially in the cool club…” he grumbled. “…He’s awake!! He’s awake!!” the teen heard the boy again as he saw him running towards the room with two men behind him. They all entered the room.
“I told you he was awake!” the little boy said proudly. The first man patted him on the hand and the little boy skipped off out of the room. The first man was old, probably about seventy years old. He was bald with a white mustache and beard. He had wrinkles across his face but was built strong especially for a man his age. He seemed in very good physical shape. He was dressed in a silky, long silver robe. His eyes were a dark green however, which was very relaxing to the teen. The man next to him, the second one, was a lot younger. He was young, most likely twenties. He wore torn jeans, a T-shirt and a leather jacket on top of that. He had sunglasses and was wearing them inside, most likely to look cool. He had blond hair and was wearing a bandana over his head. He looked like a gang member, so the teen was a bit intimidated.
“Good to see you are awake. How are you feeling?” The first man asked.
“I don’t remember anything about myself and my head is killing me…I’ve been better…I think…” the teen responded.
“Well, I know this is very hard for you. Oh, where are my manners, my name is Kendo; I am the ruler of this world. This here is my assistant, Damian.”
“Sup?” Damian said.
“Excuse my assistant. He tends to be…straight to the point.” Kendo responded. He cleared his throat. “Your memory loss is very unique and I see it rarely. Do you have your weapon?”
“Do you mean that?” the teen pointed towards his blade.
“Yes! So it is true, you are the chosen one! The next Keyblade wielder!

I decided to make my own fanfiction about KH since I was inspired by seeing a few other members making ones. So heres the prologue, hope you enjoy it (for you who read it).
Any comments, questions, opinions, or concerns would be deeply appreciated. I'm only 14 but I want to be a writer when I grow up so I would like as much criticism as possible. Thanks and enjoy :smile:

Chapter 1: The Beginning of it all

“Keyblade? Chosen one?” the teen asked.
“Let me explain. The Keyblade is a powerful weapon, one that in the previous years, helped save the world more than once. Do you know of a person named Sora?” Kendo explained.
“Doesn’t ring any bells…So, this Keyblade,” he picked up his weapon and swung it around and examined it closely, “what exactly does it have to do with me?”
“The Keyblade chooses its next wielder. Once Sora, the previous Keyblade wielder disappeared, we assumed the Keyblade was with him still. But, my search team found Sora’s Keyblade on the ground in a world far, far away. When one of my searchers went to grab the blade, it vanished…” Kendo sounded concerned. “Luckily, we have found you. The Keyblade has chosen its next wielder, which might be terrible for Sora…”
“So, this guy named Sora was the previous wielder and now the Keyblade chose me? So is this the same one he used?”
“Not exactly…Once a Keyblade finds a new wielder, its appearance may or may not change, depending on the person. Yours is different in color but similar in shape and structure which surprises me. I remember what Sora’s Keyblade looked like…”
“How do you know Sora, and why is so important?”
“Ha! You don’t know much. Have you been under a rock for the last couple of years?” Damian chimed in.
“What?” the teen was puzzled.
“As the brother of Ansem the Wise, I would think, I’d be good friends with my brother’s close friend. You see, last year, Sora defeated Master Xehanort, a tyrant of his time. Sora fell into the Realm of Darkness after Xehanort sacrificed himself to consume both him and Sora. Xehanort died when he sent them both to the Realm of Darkness, but Sora had to suffer in the Realm of Darkness. After about three years of wandering around, Sora found my brother and they both escaped the Realm of Darkness. Before Sora could tell me more, he already ran off to solve another issue that was developing…That was the last time I saw Sora. Sora had enough light to exit the Realm of Darkness, but he knew he could not leave until he found my brother. My brother Ansem is the ruler of this world…Radiant Gardens.”
“Radiant Gardens…Why do I know this place?” the teen asked.
“You know Radiant Gardens? I thought you didn’t remember anything.”
“I don’t remember much, but once you told me of Radiant Gardens, I suddenly remembered, I’ve been here before.”
“Do you even know your name?”
“No…”
“….Hmm…This is a tough case. I think it would be best if I brought you to my brother Ansem, he may be able to help you. I’ll be waiting out of my room when you are ready.”
The teenager nodded his head. Kendo and Damian exited the room and the teen got up. He found his other clothes in the corner of the room and put them on. He noticed his chain with the little key figurine on it. What, a key? He looked at his blade and saw the same shape. What is going on? He rubbed his head again and got off of the bed slowly and walked towards the door. He grabbed his Keyblade on the way out. He exited the room and saw Kendo. He gave Kendo the nod to go and Kendo began walking down the hallway. Suddenly, a man with long brown, spiky hair in the back and shorter in the front came across Kendo. He wore a white T-shirt and a small leather jacket over that. He wore black pants, black shoes. His jacket also had a fur collar on it.
“Kendo! There are Heartless outside and they’re everywhere!” the man said.
“What? Heartless! How can they be here?! Try contacting everyone and keep on fighting. I will rejoin you soon with the King and Ansem! I must bring this boy to safety! Thank you Leon.” Kendo said.
Leon nodded and turned to start going down other way. The teen looked at his blade. “No! I have to fight them. It’s my duty, isn’t it?” the teen said.
“Well, yes it is. But that is out of the discussion! I have to bring you to safety. You have no idea what you are doing and…”
“No!! I must defeat the Heartless! The Keyblade chose me and I know I must protect Radiant Gardens!” the teen exclaimed as he ran out of the room and followed Leon who didn’t notice him yet.
“No!” Kendo chased after him as he turned down several hallways until he exited outside to see several hundreds of Heartless. “Oh no…I must get the King and Ansem!” Kendo yelled as he ran back inside.
Leon began slashing at Heartless and destroying them almost immediately. He was well trained and very fortified. “Cloud!” he yelled to a man with spiky blond hair, dressed in mostly black and red. Cloud turned around to see a huge Heartless.
“Damn! It’s a Behemoth!” Cloud screamed. He began jumping, trying to land on the Behemoth’s back. Leon was doing the same. Meanwhile, the teen was fighting the Heartless and holding his own. He looked like he had been doing this for years and was well suited to his Keyblade.
He slashed through several Heartless, while Leon and Cloud were joined by a girl dressed in black who jumped onto the Behemoth’s back. “Yuffie, now!” Cloud and Leon yelled in unison as she stuck her weapon into the Behemoth, ending it. The teenager was surrounded with floods of Heartless. He didn’t like his odds very much, but continued fighting anyways. He cast a Fira spell and followed with a Blizzara spell. He wondered how he knew those spells. But then again, he was in some place he knows but doesn’t know at the same time, fighting off strange creatures with a Keyblade which he didn’t even know existed until a few hours ago. He spun his Keyblade around in the air as it shined a blue-white beam. Hundreds of light shards shot out of his Keyblade defeating several hundreds of Heartless at once. He fell to the ground, exhausted, and passed out.

He woke up in a room with several people in it. He noticed Leon, Cloud, Yuffie, Kendo, the boy from when he first woke up earlier, and an elder man.
Everyone tried to speak at once when the elder man raised his hand. Everyone immediately was silenced, showing the great respect they gave him. “My name is Ansem the Wise. It is good to finally meet you.”
“My…” the teen muttered.
“Excuse me?” Ansem asked.
“My….name is Ryo…” he muttered and passed out again. Everyone in the room became loud.
“Ryo, huh? Well at least we know his name now.” Cloud said.
“Yes. That may show some good signs that he is getting his memories back. It looks like we should keep him here for a while. I suggest we take shifts to monitor him at all times.” Ansem said relaxed. Just then, Ryo’s Keyblade shined the same blue-white color as before. Everyone looked over at the Keyblade. It began to shake and then it disappeared. Everyone exclaimed in shock. Moments later, the Keyblade was in Ryo’s hand and the Keyblade darted up. Within a matter of seconds, the Keyblade shot in the air with Ryo with it.
“No!” everyone shouted. Leon jumped and grabbed Ryo’s leg and tried to bring him down but instead they both went up. The Keyblade smashed through the ceiling and proceeded up until it was no longer viewable. “This is awful. Not only have we lost Sora, but now we lost Leon and Ryo.” Cloud said disappointed.
“No matter,” Ansem sounded reassured. Leon is with him, and the boy is very capable. I can see it in him. His heart contains so much light. No wonder the Keyblade chose him. Unfortunately, I wonder what this will mean for Sora…”
“I suggest we send Cloud and Yuffie to search for Sora. I’ll send Damian to look for Ryo and Leon!” Kendo shouted. Ansem nodded and smiled with approval. Later that day, Cloud, Yuffie, and Damian left to different worlds to search for the missing heroes.

“Wake up...” Leon poked Ryo. Ryo was laying there unconscious. Leon looked around. He thought this place looked familiar, but he wasn’t sure. The area was a desert with a few towns scattered in the distant. The sand was rough and Leon could not see that clearly. “I gotta find some shelter. We both can’t stay out here like this.” Leon looked at Ryo.
Leon carried Ryo on his back and started to walk. Soon, he found an old and battered shack. He carried Ryo into there and set him down. The shack was extremely small, the size of a bedroom. No wonder no one lived here… “He shouldn’t be waking up anytime soon.” Leon sat against the wall and closed his eyes.
Ryo woke up quietly and saw Leon. Before he could say anything, a loud noise pierced his ears and the shelter began to crack. Leon began to wake up, but it was too late. They were both caught in a devastating sandstorm. Leon tried to talk but when he opened his mouth, sand flew in. A tornado of sand built up and Leon and Ryo began to spin around in it. It became larger and larger until Ryo was finally shot out. He flew for miles and miles until he hit into a small food stand. “Ugh…That wasn’t pleasant…” Where am I? Once he stopped thinking, he heard the Arabic man yelling at him. He was short, with black hair, a mustache and a turban.
“What did you do to my shop!!?” He proclaimed.
“Umm…I’m sorry sir…” Ryo said embarrassed.
“You will be sorry when you pay for it!!” his face was red with anger.
“I don’t have any money…” Ryo responded.
“Fine then….GUARDS!!!” he screamed. A group of six guards quickly came. They were extremely buff men with black T-Shirts and beige pants. They carried scimitars and began talking to the shop owner. “What’s the problem here?” The guard looked at the shop owner, then at Ryo. He examined Ryo closer and then confronted him.
“Haven’t I’ve seen you somewhere?” the guard said.
“Hey Razoul, why you wastin’ your time wit’ some kid?” The second guard said.
The first guard, Razoul, said, “Shut up over there! Where are you from kid?”
“I…umm…” Ryo couldn’t make any words come out of his mouth because he really didn’t know where he was from.
“Say something! Or else I’m going to have to take you to the ol’ jail cell.” Razoul started to laugh and the guards joined in. The shop owner then gave Ryo a look that Ryo interpreted as “RUN!!”
Ryo sprang up and darted down through the town. “We got a runner!! After im’ boys!!” Razoul screamed as the guards chased after Ryo.
Ryo looked behind and saw the guards coming at full speed. Ryo jumped on a basket of clothes and leaped on to a clothesline. He swung from that and flipped on the roof of a house. He started to jump across the roofs. “I can’t do much without my Keyblade…” Once Ryo said that, his Keyblade appeared in his right hand. “Wow…” Ryo was impressed. I still can’t fight them, they’re just the guards. Ryo thought. He thought it would just be best to hide from them. He hid in the shadows of a house. He overheard a conversation between two of the guards.
“Alright…I’m calling back the men. This one is special. He moves fast, thinks quickly. I’d say he reminds me a lot of Prince Aladdin in his peasant days.” Razoul said.
“We gotta fight those Heartless away too, so we have bigger priorities than some thief. Too bad our weapons don’t work against them…”
“That’s why Aladdin has been busy lately. He’s overworked from fighting all of those Heartless. Ah well, it’ll keep the Prince busy, which means he won’t be in town in case we get ‘rough’ with a criminal.” Razoul responded as the two men laughed and proceeded to find some more “fun”, they could have.
Ryo sighed in relief. “Who is Aladdin? I don’t remember him, though I don’t remember anything…Well if he’s fighting off the Heartless, I better find them and help out! How could I find them though?” Ryo wondered.
Then, Ryo heard screams and cries of “The Heartless are back! The Heartless are back! They’re in the Eastern District and are breaking through!! Run!!” the citizens screamed in panic.
“I have to help!” Ryo jumped along the rooftops. He looked at the scenery of this world and wondered what it was called. He also wondered what happened to Leon. Ryo felt responsible for what happened to Leon since he assumed he was the reason why they were here. He continued to jump and swing across the small houses. Ryo had great agility and strength which surprised him because he seemed a little bit scrawny compared to most people. He still didn’t know much about himself but he was confident that he must destroy all the Heartless and find Sora. He didn’t know where to start, but helping worlds fight off the Heartless until he could find a way seemed fine for him. Finally, he saw a large group of Heartless attacking a man dressed in a purple vest that didn’t quite cross his whole body. He also wore white pants and had brown bandages rapped around his waist and stomach. He also was wearing a small, red hat. He had a sword in his hand and looked capable of fighting the Heartless because he was doing a good job. There were still too many though, and they started to overcome him. Ryo jumped down and sliced a bunch of them. The man in the purple vest saw Ryo’s Keyblade.
“Gee, thanks Sora! What happened to your other Key-“ he looked up and saw that it wasn’t Sora.
“Sora?” Ryo began, “I’m not Sora. My name is Ryo!”
Ryo started to slash his way through the small Heartless. He cast Fira spells and Blizzara spells as well. He didn’t know any fighting combos but they just happened as if he already knew many combos. He threw his Keyblade, destroying several Heartless and it came back in his hands fast enough to block the Heartless’ attack. He countered and slashed a bunch of them. When all the Heartless were gone, Ryo was exhausted. He felt a little dizzy. He had to remember not to push himself too far. The man went over to comfort Ryo.
“Hey…Ryo was it? My name is Aladdin. I’m the Prince of this world. Nice too meet you!” Aladdin said and put out his hand for a handshake. Realizing, he was Prince, Ryo tried to be more formal.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you Prince Aladdin.” Ryo softly said as he bowed down on one knee. He didn’t remember his memories but he did know his manners. Aladdin laughed. “Don’t be so formal Ryo! I’m just another person, just like you.”
“Thanks Aladdin,” Ryo started to get back up, “How do you know Sora by the way?”
“I’ll let you know on the way back to the palace.” Aladdin began walking through the streets and was being bowed to and honored as the duo past by. “Sora and I go way back. He helped me become what I am today.”
“Wow, this Sora guy sounds really fantastic…” Ryo quietly spoke.
“Are you a friend of Sora?”
“I’m not sure…I just found out I’m the next chosen Keyblade wielder. I’m suffering from memory loss.”
“That’s hard to hear. Wait, if the Keyblade has chosen the next Keyblade wielder, then doesn’t that mean…,” Aladdin stopped and looked at Ryo who put his head down. Aladdin quickly looked back and kept on walking. “I think Sora is still alive. He never goes down without a fight. Trust me. I fought the Heartless with him on these same streets!”
“Really?” Ryo looked impressed and he felt like he knew Sora a lot better now for some reason he couldn’t understand. He thought if he found Sora, it would really help him. It could even solve his memory loss. He knew his memories were precious to him, even if he didn’t know them yet. Ryo just knew he had to get them back at all costs.
“Yeah, it’s true! Sora and I along with my buddy Abu fought the Heartless and he even saved me a few times. I can’t forget his friends-“
“Goofy and Donald.” Ryo somehow knew those names.
“Yeah…how did you know?”
“I’m not sure…Ugh...” Ryo felt dizzy again. The sharp pain came back slightly.
“Are you alright?” Aladdin asked concerned.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” Ryo responded as he rubbed his forehead. As soon as he remembered something, he got a sharp pain in his head as if floods of memories of the person he just remembered came back. Yet, he could not remember a single thing about them. They kept on walking. The palace was now in clear view. It was gigantic and beautiful building that was decorated perfectly and looked like an amazing place to live.
“…Anyway, Sora’s a good pal of mine, so if you find him, let me know.” Aladdin smiled at Ryo. Ryo smiled back.
“Oh yeah! That reminds me? Have you seen my friend, Leon?” Ryo described what Leon looked like to Aladdin.
“Nope. I don’t recall seeing him. Sorry Ryo.”
Ryo showed a sigh of disappointment. “That’s alright. It’s not your fault. Especially since you are so busy handling all those Heartless!”
“It’s not a problem. Those were the weakest ones, they’re called Shadows. There are many kinds of Heartless, but they all have weaknesses. If you find their weakness, you can take them down.” Aladdin said pounding his fist into his palm.
“Thanks for the tip Aladdin…I’ll keep it in mind.” Ryo said as they made it up to the main gates.
“Well, we are here. Welcome to the palace! This is the biggest building in all of Agrabah!”
“Agrabah huh? I’ll remember that name so when I find Sora, I’ll come back and tell you.” Ryo sounded confident and knew he must succeed because of all the friends and loved ones Sora has. Ryo knew he couldn’t disappoint all these people that were connected to Sora.
Ryo’s Keyblade began shining suddenly. It was a blue-white beam that Ryo couldn’t control. Like last time, Ryo’s Keyblade started to dart up. Ryo grabbed on and tried to bring it back down. Instead, the Keyblade pulled Ryo with him and they started to fly in the air off of Agrabah.
“Ryo!! I’ll see you soon.” Aladdin said knowing that Ryo was going somewhere and he hoped it would lead Ryo to Sora.
Ryo was heading into space and knew he couldn’t breathe. He didn’t know what to do. Once he hit space, the Keyblade shined lighter and an orb appeared around Ryo. He was safe and could breathe fine. Wow, how cool is that? Ryo thought to himself. He wondered where he was heading next. He had many tasks to do now. He knew he had to find and save Sora, find Leon, defeat all the Heartless, and finally get back to Radiant Gardens. He hoped he could solve all of his problems and he would get his memories back. He just had a gut feeling if he didn’t get his memories back, he’d never be complete and would never have a true life. Ryo’s Keyblade sped through space with Ryo holding onto it. He came across another world and his Keyblade began to descend there. Ryo wondered what this world was and what challenges it gave. Whatever it was, Ryo was ready…

This is awesome dude. So far I've only flicked through it (on a computer?) as I have to do an art project but from what I've seen of it, it is really good.

I'm about halfway through Chapter 2, but it takes a while to write and I'm a little off on time since I have a project due Wednesday that I didn't start I should have it by Wednesday or Thursday (I did get like an hour of writing before)

Here's Chapter 2, freshly out of the oven

Chapter 2: Animal Issues

When Ryo descended on his latest destination, he looked around and examined his surroundings. All around him was a huge forest. Trees and wildlife spread all across this massive jungle. This world was fresh and exciting. Ryo felt comfortable in this place and had a warm feeling when he landed here. The sun was shining brightly and brought this place to life. Gorillas were all over the place, swinging from tree to tree, looking for any food they could find. Ryo didn’t know where to start looking for Sora. Ryo glanced down and saw a yellow path along the lively, green grass and plants. Ryo decided that would be his best way to find something. Bang!! Ryo heard a loud gunshot that ricocheted around the forest. The gorillas became worried and nervous. They began jumping wildly through the trees which startled more animals and many other animals began to stampede through the forest. Ryo saw a large variety of animals, and they were heading his way…full speed.
Ryo turned around and ran as fast as he could. The animals were fast and were gaining on him. If Ryo turned, there would be no chance for him to escape before the animals caught up to him. And if Ryo kept running like this, soon the animals would catch up with him. Basically, Ryo was screwed.
Suddenly, he heard a loud, defiant, battle cry and a man’s shadowy figure through the trees. The man swooped in on a vine and grabbed Ryo by the shirt. They both swung up onto a tree and Ryo watched as the stampede of animals kept on going. They were headed for a cliff. Ryo looked concerned and immediately, the man began to swing through the trees. He got in front of the stampede and jumped in front of the cliff. He put out his arms and the animals began to stop as if they respected him as a leader. The animals were going too fast however, and were close to falling. The man got pushed back by several animals and was at the edge of the cliff, trying to push back a ton of weight. The animals stopped, but the man slipped and down the cliff. The animals all looked concerned but went back to their own business. The stampede ended, but the man may have lost his life to save the animals. Ryo was terrified and quickly ran to the edge of the cliff. He looked down and saw a figure swimming over the land. Ryo sighed with relief as the man fell into a huge lake and was alright. Still, Ryo wondered how he could have survived the fall.
“He must have been really strong… I wonder who he is…” Ryo muttered to himself. He was just glad that the man was alright. Ryo was impressed that the man was respected enough by the animals to stop. He wondered how a human could get such a good reputation with the animals of this forest. He decided it was best to continue searching for Sora. He also made it a second priority to find the man and thank him. Without him, Ryo could have been trampled, and he definitely didn’t want that. Ryo had a quick glance at the man. He was a little strange at first since he wasn’t wearing a shirt and was only wearing a cloth as his pants. He had long, brown hair that was thick. The man had a chiseled face and muscular body. Ryo was very good at analyzing people. He was too good in fact. Ryo thought something was familiar about him. He only got a quick glance at him, but somehow knew most about his looks. Ryo was even more confused now. He decided it would be best not think about it. Ryo also had to remember to look for Leon. He had a lot to do and he figured something bad was brewing up. He didn’t have much time…
Ryo found the yellow path again and began to walk along the path. In the distance, Ryo could see a large campsite. There were several tents set up and a few people. Many tables and large boxes were placed across the campsite. Ryo decided that would be his best bet to find someone. Maybe Sora was there. Ryo certainly hoped so…
Ryo was cutting through branches and bushes with his Keyblade to get through the forest. The campsite couldn’t be too far. He cut his way through a branch and appeared in an opening. It was a large circular opening with two ways to go. He saw smoke in the distant of one of the ways and figured that’s where the campsite would be. He began to walk until he heard a rustle in the bushes. He turned and faced the noise. The noise then shot behind Ryo. He quickly turned around and braced himself for whatever was coming. Ryo didn’t hear anything for a little bit. He carefully stood still and listened for something. He had his Keyblade in his hand if anything went wrong.
Out of the brush, a giant leopard leaped behind Ryo. Ryo turned around, but not quick enough. He was pinned to the ground with only his Keyblade between him and the leopard. Ryo struggled to fight off the leopard but used enough of his strength to push the leopard off. Ryo jumped up and went on the defensive. “The only way to beat you,” Ryo analyzed, “is to dodge, attack, and repeat”. Ryo was good at studying his enemies and learning their weaknesses fairly quickly. He was strangely adapted to battle for someone who doesn’t remember much.
The leopard jumped at Ryo again, who dodged out of the way and struck the leopard a few times with his Keyblade. He rolled backwards and got back in defensive mode. The leopard was fierce. He had sharp, green eyes, and terrifying teeth. He was almost completely yellow aside from darker colored spots with a black lining around them. He also had a white underbelly. His claws were sharp, no doubt used to rip apart his prey. Ryo studied carefully though, and learned that the leopard was not very smart.
The leopard continued the same method as before, with Ryo dodging and slicing the leopard again. The leopard cried in pain and then growled ferociously at Ryo. The leopard was about to charge again when his head quickly turned. He looked back at Ryo, growled, and then ran off into the jungle. Ryo put his arm over his back and lay his Keyblade on his shoulder and upper back. He let his Keyblade disappear and breathed a few times. “Wow that was close. I have to remember that this is a jungle.” Ryo panted and walked towards the campsite.
He entered through the pathway into a big complex. There were about four tents set up, large ones too. Boxes, books, tables, and plenty of scientific equipment were all around the camp. In the middle, there was a big campfire with a few men around it. They looked like scientists. Ryo seemed unnoticed by them, and for the ones who did notice him, didn’t bother with him. Several of the men were picking up boxes and moving them around. Ryo didn’t notice the man who saved him among these guys. As one of the men passed Ryo, he quickly tapped him to get his attention.
“Excuse me, who runs this camp?” Ryo asked.
The man quickly answered with an Australian accent, “Jane and the professor are the main scientists of this camp. The professor is out but Jane is in that tent over there.” The man pointed to the tent on the far left. Ryo thanked he man and headed for that tent. When he entered inside, he saw a woman in a beige T-Shirt and brown-green pants. She had brown hair and was studying something on a microscope. “Excuse me?” Ryo asked.
The woman looked up. She spoke in a British accent. “Oh, hello! I don’t remember seeing your face around here. Are you new?” she asked. Her voice was comforting and sweet. The lady was also very polite.
“Umm…yeah. My name is Ryo. I’m looking for a guy named Sora.” He explained what Sora looked like.
“You’re a friend of Sora? How nice! Sora hasn’t been here for a few years, I’m sorry. My name is Jane, why are you looking for him?”
Ryo explained how Sora went missing and Ryo’s story so far. He explained it quickly and left out most details since they weren’t really important. Then, Ryo asked about the man who saved him. “That’s Tarzan!” she said excited. She explained who Tarzan was and all about his life as a half gorilla-half human.
“Raised by gorillas? That must have been tough…” Ryo said.
“Not really. Tarzan loves the gorillas and has become the local hero over the years…as you can surely relate.”
“Yeah, I wanted to thank him before I headed off. You know where I could find him?” Just as Ryo finished saying that, the men outside began to scream with alarm. They began screaming for help. Ryo and Jane ran out of the tent. One of the men quickly ran up to them.
“Heartless are back!! They’re all over the campsite. We got to get you outta here Jane!!” the man said as he picked up Jane and carried her off to safety. Too bad that left Ryo alone, fighting a large group of Heartless.
“Aww, mannnn!!” Ryo exclaimed. He took out his Keyblade and examined his foes. They weren’t like the previous Heartless he had been fighting before. They were more detailed and looked more powerful. Suddenly, Ryo heard the same battle cry from before when the man saved him. He was sure that he would be meeting Tarzan again now. A shadow of a man flew down and a few Heartless were taken out with a couple of swings from his spear. He leaped by Ryo, surrounded by a bunch of Heartless. “Tarzan?” Ryo asked. Tarzan nodded.
“…Soldiers…Powerwilds…Stronger Heartless…” he muttered.
Ryo understood and prepared for a tough battle. They both charged separate ways and began to fight. Ryo dodged the first Soldier and hit it a few times with his Keyblade until it disappeared. A Powerwild leaped onto Ryo’s Keyblade, holding it down. Another one leaped and Ryo’s face and started ripping at him with its claws. Ryo fell to the ground as several Powerwilds covered Ryo, attacking him. Beams of light began to form between the cracks of the Powerwilds. Soon, they all were blasted off of Ryo and were defeated. Ryo got up slowly to fight more. He was injured badly and he had no idea how he could summon enough strength to shoot a light blast from himself. He was just as confused as ever. Tarzan, who was busy fighting off several Heartless, did a back flip over Ryo and in front of him. He protected Ryo and started slashing at the Heartless.
“…Use Cure!” Tarzan prompted Ryo.
Ryo suddenly remembered the Cure spell. “Cure!” he yelled and his injuries were gone. He felt stronger again and resumed battling the Heartless. He slashed at them and this time prevented the Powerwilds from jumping on him. If he rolled backwards from the Powerwilds when they leaped, he could counterattack them and fight them off. It was almost the same strategy from the fight with the leopard. Ryo continued to defeat the Heartless until they were all gone. Ryo and Tarzan panted. They were both exhausted from the fight. Suddenly, a man in a black coat appeared in front of them.
“My…my…what a toll you have done on the Heartless.” He laughed. His voice was deep and powerful. His face was shrouded in his hood. Ryo got a terrible presence from him. It was a presence of compete darkness. Ryo felt awful just thinking about it.
“Who are you?” Ryo said with confidence. He remembered a man in a black coat that confronted him when he first woke up, but Ryo knew it wasn’t the same man. Their voices were too different.
“That is of no importance. If you would like you memories back, you better follow me.” And with that, the man teleported through the camp and back into the jungle.
“We have to follow him! If I can get my memory back, I may be able to find Sora!!” Ryo yelled at Tarzan.
“…Sora? I help Sora!” Tarzan sounded worried.
“Thanks Tarzan. My name is Ryo. I’m glad you are on my side. Thanks for saving me before.” Ryo smiled.
“Friend of Sora…friend of mine.” Tarzan smiled back. They both proceeded into the jungle. “Mermaid Lagoon.” Tarzan informed Ryo. Ryo nodded and let Tarzan lead. Tarzan climbed up a tree and began jumping from the top of the tree to the next one. Ryo followed and found out he was actually good at tree jumping. He laughed at the thought of it and kept on going. Tarzan jumped down and climbed a vine. Ryo did the same. When they reached the top, they were on the top of a large tree. They saw the hooded man in the distance. Tarzan began to jump through the vines, and Ryo, although he was a little frightened at first, did the same. When they reached the end, they climbed down a vine. They continued to follow the man all the way until the duo found him cornered in a tree house.
“Ha! Now we have you right where we want you!!” Ryo sounded proud.
“Don’t be so sure,” the man smiled, or Ryo thought he smiled because after all, he couldn’t see his face. The hooded man whistled and a giant leopard busted through the tree house. Ryo recognized the leopard immediately.
“Sabor!” Tarzan shouted. Ryo knew that Tarzan must have encountered Sabor before and that they fought numerous times. Ryo could see the leopard was steaming with rage and jealously. He wanted his revenge on Ryo and Tarzan.
“Good…good! Feed your darkness, Sabor. Thanks to our friend Ryo,” he laughed. “We can make you an unstoppable force!” The hooded man teleported in front of Sabor and touched his head. Sabor began changing color. The part of his body that was yellow now became pitch black. The spots remained the same color and so did his underbelly but it was obvious that Sabor had overcome to the darkness. “Now, Ryo…enjoy!” he laughed as he teleported off.
“That lying…” Ryo cursed under his breath. The dark Sabor looked terrifying now; even more than before. Ryo could see in his eyes that Sabor only wanted one thing…revenge. Sabor trounced at amazing speeds at Tarzan. Tarzan leaped up and over Sabor. Sabor quickly turned around and looked at Ryo and Tarzan. He roared loudly and the ground began to shake. In a matter of seconds, the tree house was surrounded completely by Powerwilds. They began flooding in the tree house while the others blocked the way out. The only way Tarzan and Ryo could live, was to defeat them all.
Tarzan and Ryo started to hack at all the Powerwilds. Ryo jumped back and dodged them perfectly. He had mastered the Powerwilds’ movement and easily defeated a bunch of them. Ryo could have handled the Powerwilds but Sabor provided too much of a challenge. He was faster and stronger now. Ryo had to make sure he was dodging the Powerwilds’ and focusing on Sabor. One wrong move and it could have been over for Ryo. He looked at Tarzan quickly for help. Tarzan nodded at Ryo and pounded his chest while screaming a battle cry. All the Powerwilds took this as a challenge and focused their attacks on Tarzan. Ryo figured if he could defeat Sabor, he could make all the Powerwilds disappear since Sabor summoned them. Ryo focused on his enemy.
Sabor was quicker now. Ryo knew if he got pinned down like last time, he might not be able to counter Sabor. Sabor charged at Ryo. Ryo hardly saw it coming and Ryo was slammed against the wall. Ryo held Sabor back by his Keyblade. Sabor grew more furious and became even stronger. He was being fed by the darkness inside of him. Filled with rage, his heart was becoming pure darkness. Ryo still saw a glimpse of light in his heart though. It was one way Ryo could succeed. Ryo pushed his Keyblade forward and ducked quickly. Sabor fell forward and hit into the wall. Ryo slid under Sabor and stuck out his hand. Ryo’s Keyblade appeared in his hand and he stuck his Keyblade on Sabor’s back. His Keyblade shined and Sabor roared. A small part of his back began to regain color but it soon stopped. Sabor growled loudly and ran out of the tree house. Ryo looked really surprised. Suddenly, all the Powerwilds disappeared. Tarzan looked just as surprised.
“Good work…Ryo.” He said quietly. Ryo thanked him. Ryo knew this wasn’t over yet. He suggested that they follow Sabor because Ryo thought it would lead them to the hooded man. Tarzan agreed and then they headed out the tree house. Bang!! Ryo’s ears rang from the loud sound of the shotgun that was fired. Ryo looked around but so no one. He looked at Tarzan. “Clayton…” Tarzan said with a fierce look on his face. He ran like a gorilla and jumped off the side of the deck that was outside the tree house. Ryo was shocked and ran over to the edge. He saw Tarzan sliding down a large, long tree branch. Ryo jumped down and followed Tarzan.
Ryo was jumping through trees and through vines, so he thought this wouldn’t be much of a challenge. He was wrong. As soon as he landed, he slipped and fell right on his man parts. He cried out in pain and almost fell off. He regained his breath and tried not to cry from the pain. After a few seconds of grimacing and pure pain, he got up and tried again. He began sliding down the tree and was making good progress. He saw Tarzan again who leaped over a bunch of tree branches in the way. Ryo’s eyes widened when he saw them and leaped over, but not fast enough. His shoe got caught in the branch and he got stuck in the branch. He tried to get loose and pulled at his shoes and laces. The shoe came off, but Ryo fell off the branch. The last thing he saw before he blacked out was the big tree stump he was about to land face-first on.

Ryo woke up a bit later, with a big bump on his head. “Never…again….” He rubbed his forehead which frankly got hurt way too much. No wonder why he had memory loss, Ryo thought to himself. He looked at the sky. The sun was going down, which meant he must have been blacked out for at least an hour. He needed to find Tarzan quick. Whoever this “Clayton” was, he didn’t sound very nice. Ryo didn’t know where he was exactly, so he just wandered off in a good direction. “I’m not lost…” he reassured himself. He wandered around for a few minutes and cut through the branches, getting cut and bruised on his arms and face. He cut through until he finally found an opening. He sighed in disappointment. He was right back where he was. He could tell too because the tree stump still had his forehead blood on it. “I’m in way over my head.” He looked up at the sky with annoyance. Suddenly, the brush began to move. Ryo prepared for the worse. Clayton? Sabor...? Could it be that hooded man? Ryo braced himself and as soon as the figure moved out of the brush, Ryo wailed them in the head with his Keyblade. Ryo shouted with joy, “Yeah!!!” Ryo then looked down and saw Tarzan, on the ground, knocked out. “Damn it…!” he grumbled to himself as he sat down.
A couple of minutes later, Tarzan regained consciousness. “Ouch…Tarzan thought Ryo was friend….”
“Yeah…sorry about that Tarzan.” Ryo said with a grin.
“Where did you… go?” he said with a little trouble.
Ryo stepped in front of the bloody stump and replied. “Nothing…I just got…lost! Yeah, that’s it! Silly me!” he began to laugh but it was so obvious he was trying to hide something. Tarzan grinned. Then they heard a gunshot…again.
Tarzan turned around and knew exactly where the gunshot came from. Tarzan gave Ryo the sign to follow him. Tarzan led Ryo through the jungle. Finally, they came across the cause. Ryo saw a man carrying a shotgun. A gorilla lay dead on the ground and Ryo flinched in disgust. He grew angry at the man. He had a cold, stern face, and a tiny mustache. He had black hair with some patches of gray in it. His eyes were full of evil and enjoyment of pain. He wore a dark, yellow jacket and beige shorts. A pack of gorillas were mourning the death of their own behind the dead gorilla. Ryo knew this was Clayton.
Ryo and Tarzan leaped out of the brush. Clayton turned slowly and chuckled as if he knew we were coming. It was a trap! Ryo looked up and saw Sabor leaping straight down. He pushed Tarzan out of the way and stuck his Keyblade out. He had only a split second to prepare. The real battle was about to begin.
Sabor drilled straight down and bit right into Ryo’s Keyblade. Sabor pulled ferociously with his teeth and yanked Ryo’s Keyblade out if his hands. Tarzan went to help Ryo but Ryo told him to get the gorillas to safety. Tarzan nodded and ran off with the gorillas, assuring their safety. Ryo put his hand out but his Keyblade wouldn’t form in his hands. Sabor retreated behind Clayton. Clayton picked up Ryo’s Keyblade and the hooded man appeared. He took Ryo’s Keyblade. “Good work…I have no more assistance for you.” The hooded man spoke.
“What do you mean “no more assistance”? Give me the dark powers you promised!!” Clayton raged. Tarzan rejoined at Ryo’s side after getting the gorillas to safety.
“Goodbye.” The hooded man chuckled and he took Ryo’s Keyblade and slashed Clayton with it. Clayton fell to the ground and disappeared, just like a Heartless. Ryo screamed at the hooded man.
“What is wrong with you!? Why did you do that? Leave…him…alone!!!” Ryo yelled. Tarzan looked stunned and felt bad for Clayton. Not even he deserved that. Ryo looked at Tarzan as “I got this…” so Tarzan went to distract Sabor and they both began to fight.
“Yes…let your anger feed your darkness.” The hooded man laughed. He stuck out Ryo’s Keyblade in his hand and the whole blade part of it turned a deep black color.
“There is no darkness in my heart.” Ryo calmly spoke. He stuck out his hands and closed his eyes. He concentrated and when he opened his eyes, his Keyblade was in his hand, back to normal color. The man was astonished and looked angry and nervous.
“Ryo, you are a fool. If you let the darkness consume you…” the hooded man began to rise in the air, “You can have unbelievable POWER!!!” he roared as loud as he could. He was in the air and dark pulses and energy shards shot all around him.
“Stop this Kagai,” Ryo suddenly remembered, “You will die if you let your darkness consume you!” he reasoned.
“How do you remember my name?!” Kagai panicked. “I will assure you, I will DESTROY you and every god damn Keyblade wielder!!!” he exploded with rage and darkness. One, giant, two-handed energy sword appeared in Kagai’s hands. He charged Ryo at incredible speeds, but Ryo countered him easily because of Kagai’s carelessness.
“Your attacks of pure darkness are driven by hatred and power. You think it will make you stronger, but you leave your mind wide open. I could analyze you before you even attack by the way you positioned yourself. Face it Kagai, it is over!” Ryo claimed.
“It won’t be over until I kill you!” he roared. He jumped back and screamed, unleashing more of his darkness. His hood flew off and his true face was revealed. His silver, spiky hair shot up. His eyes were a sharp red and he had a bit of a tan. His hair was spiked more at the back and jagged in the front. Ryo looked carefully at his neck, for on it, was the symbol of the Heartless. Ryo encountered this man before…once. He remembered now. Much more was clear. Floods of memories shot back. Ryo fell on one knee. Kagai got ready for a full-powered dark blast. He stuck his blade backwards and then in the air. A dark energy ball was beginning to form. Ryo did not remember where, but he met Kagai before. They fought before…Ryo suddenly remembered. Where he first woke up, was when he fought Kagai. Kagai and Ryo were battling for the possession of the Keyblade. Ryo had it and Kagai wanted it. Kagai lost though, and using his dark powers, he scattered Ryo’s memories as revenge. Kagai shot his dark energy ball at Ryo.
Ryo regained focus and stuck out his Keyblade. A small beam of light came out of Ryo’s Keyblade and when the two blasts collided, Ryo’s light beam opened up and the darkness went inside. The light closed and the darkness was gone. Basically, Ryo used his light to open up a realm to transfer the dark energy and contain it.
Kagai fell to the floor. Ryo staggered but began walking slowly to Kagai. He had no energy left, but was still alive. Ryo kneeled down next to Kagai.
“The organization will not let you live…Once they find out you defeated me, they will track you down and defeat you. Just like they did to…Sora…” he laughed with a dying breath.
Ryo’s face became blank and cold. Sora…was defeated? That is impossible. Ryo didn’t believe it. He must have been lying. Ryo decided he would still search for Sora. But who was this organization? Ryo remembered about the fight with Kagai but that was about it. He still didn’t remember how he got the Keyblade or anything before that. He was starting to remember more now. He fought Kagai and then lost his memory. Ryo decided it would be best to return back to Radiant Gardens…but he didn’t know how. He also had to find Leon. Ryo then remembered that Tarzan was still fighting Sabor. He looked around but couldn’t find any trace of them.
Ryo’s Keyblade began to glow a familiar blue-white glow. Within a few seconds, Ryo shot up and sure enough, his Keyblade darted up, towards some other destination. “Aww….not again…” Ryo sighed as he left the world with so many questions.

This chapter gets confusing at the end, but more will be explained as the story progresses. (Ryo is just not an animal type of guy )

I haven't worked on Chapter 3 at all yet Ive been playing a lot of Re:Coded and Fallout lately. I'm going to start it sometime today though (Hopefully now)

Chapter 3: New Threats

Ryo landed in a familiar place. He knew immediately it was Radiant Gardens, but at the same time it wasn’t. The whole place looked dull and sad now. Ryo wondered what happened to Radiant Gardens so he ran into the main district. He found a man in a black hood there. As soon as the hooded man saw Ryo, he began to run the other way. “Hey!” Ryo yelled at him and began to chase him after summoning his Keyblade. As they got to an alley, the hooded man ran to the end of the alley which was blocked by a wall.
“Ha! Now I have you where I want you.” Ryo proudly said.
“No.” the hooded person said. Ryo recognized by the sound of their voice that it was actually a girl. Oops! Ryo thought and look a bit embarrassed. She continued to talk. “I have you where I want…you!” she yelled. She took off her hood. She was very short. She had bright blonde hair that was straight and in a ponytail. She had little green eyes. Her voice sounded high pitched and snotty. Ryo realized that it was a little girl, probably six or seven years old. Ryo fell on the floor and started laughing hysterically. “HAHAHA!!!” It’s just a little girl!!” he cried.
“Hey! Don’t be a meanie!!” she whimpered and frowned.
Ryo got back up and put his hands on his knees. He regained his breath. He stared at the girl for a minute. He smiled and began to crack up again. He fell on the floor once more and started to laugh and point at her.
The girl grew embarrassed and enraged. “I’ll teach you!!” she yelled. She concentrated and closed her eyes. She clenched her fists together and yelled. Ryo stopped laughing and looked at her. Suddenly, dark beams shot out of the ground in the distance. Ryo heard a giant, defiant roar come from way behind the girl. Ryo saw a monster of darkness begin to form.
“Darky is coming to kill you now!” she jumped up and down with joy. One after another, Ryo heard monstrous steps, the footsteps of a giant beast.
Darky? I don’t like the sound of that. Ryo thought to himself. A giant monster broke through the wall they were near as if it was normal to smash through walls with such ease. The monster was completely black, usual for a Heartless, Ryo thought. He had dark purple chest armor around him that had a little cage inside. Ryo got a worried look on his face. His brain went into fear of this giant monster. Ryo’s legs took action and he turned the other way and sped off.
“Get him Darky!!” she laughed. Darky reached down with his terrifying hand and picked up the little girl. The monster opened up the cage and placed the girl inside. “Full speed ahead!” she imagined she was a pirate. Upon hearing this, as Ryo ran away, he screamed, laughed, screamed and so on. Darky began to charge Ryo. Every step it took was easily equivalent to ten steps by Ryo. It would be very soon that Darky caught up to Ryo. Ryo noticed someone flying towards the monster. He saw the man had a Keyblade in his hand. He darted down at an incredible speed. He was like a missile that was shooting down at its target. The girl noticed and gasped. Darky turned around but it was too late. The man slashed downwards past Darky. Darky roared as his right hand vanished. Whoa… Ryo thought astonished on how fast this guy was. He had long, silver hair and blue-green eyes. He wore a black shirt with a yellow and white jacket over that. He had blue jeans and sneakers. “Riku!” Ryo shouted as he remembered that name.
Riku looked questionably at Ryo. Darky roared again and Riku leaped back next to Ryo. “We’ll have to work together to defeat him…” Riku spoke analyzing his opponent.
“Right!” Ryo agreed. He thought something was odd about Riku. He knew him immediately and felt a special bond between them. He felt as if he knew Riku for a long time. Ryo couldn’t think of it now. He focused on Darky and prepared to take him down. The girl may be from the same organization as Kagai. If they could question her, Ryo might be able to finally get some answers. Ryo and Riku charged Darky. Ryo leaped at Darky first. Darky caught Ryo surprisingly. Darky threw Ryo in the air and formed a ball of darkness. He shot it at Ryo. Ryo blocked with his Keyblade as the giant ball of darkness collided with him. Ryo had never felt such immense power from the darkness. Ryo was shot in the air screaming. His Keyblade began to shake and it flew out of Ryo’s hand. Ryo was hit with the massive blast. He fell from the sky, barely conscious. As he was falling down, he glimpsed Riku fighting hard against Darky. Ryo lost his vision, but it came back. His vision was blurry and his body was covered with little sparks of black and yellow. He couldn’t move a muscle. The blast must have been a dark paralyzing blast.
Ryo began to regain his vision but still could not move. He couldn’t even feel any of his muscles. He couldn’t even summon his Keyblade back. Riku was still slashing at the monster. It looked good for Riku, until the monsters armor came off. Riku hit the armor with a vertical jab. As it broke, a small black light appeared. When the armor fell off, a powerful purple beam shot out at Riku. Riku was propelled all the way back into a wall and hit his head. He fell down unconscious. “That’s what you get for being mean to Darky!!” the girl laughed cheerfully. “I wonder where that other one went?” she questioned.
Luckily she didn’t notice Ryo. Sure that was lucky for Ryo, but Darky began to walk towards Riku. Ryo could only watch in sadness. He had to help him. Ryo just knew that Riku had some sort of special bond to him. He had to help him. Ryo closed his eyes and began to struggle. His muscles started to move. Darky got closer to Riku. Ryo struggled more, fighting off this paralysis. He could move one of his arms. He tried to push himself up with it but fell. His body took too much damage. Darky was now against the wall. He picked up Riku. The girl laughed and said, “Let’s bring this one to the boss Darky!” she giggled.
No! Ryo thought. He broke his paralysis and jumped up. A dark portal opened beneath Darky. Ryo ran towards them and he summoned his Keyblade. He didn’t have time for an attack. He had to get inside that portal and rescue Riku. He dove for the portal but it closed before he could reach it. Ryo banged his head against the pavement and crashed into the wall. He was unconscious, just like all those other times he tried to help.

Ryo awoke in a bed gasping. He failed Riku. Riku gave his life to help Ryo get away and yet it looked like Riku had no idea who he was. Ryo felt terrible, especially in his heart. He felt like his heart was cold now that he didn’t know what they would do to Riku. He had to stay strong. There must be a way for Ryo to reach Riku. He looked around and this place was familiar. He knew it was the place in Radiant Gardens where he met Kendo. But the room was trashed now. It was battered and everything looked old and lifeless. Ryo got up slowly. His hand was hurting a lot. He had no idea how he didn’t lose his head with that insane stunt. His back hurt even more though. He must’ve hit it against the wall when he flipped over his own head into it. He wasn’t wearing a shirt, but instead most of his back was bandaged up. His black T-Shirt was on the end of the bed. Ryo grabbed it, put it on and headed out the door. He went down the corridors that were once so full of life. Now they looked bland and deserted. Ryo ran outside of the main entrance. As he exited, he was disgusted with what he saw. This wasn’t Radiant Gardens. It had gone back to its previous state. Hollow Bastion… Ryo remembered and looked down sadly. He has been to this place as well, though he remembers nothing of it. He just knows it’s a bad place. He had to get Hollow Bastion back to…to…What!? Ryo shrieked. He couldn’t remember the name of the place it was. Ryo felt a hand on his shoulder. He leaped around and screamed. The man screamed as well. It was Kendo.
“Don’t scare me like that Kendo!!” Ryo shouted.
“Me? You are the one who scare me!” Kendo argued. His touched his forehead and closed his eyes. “This isn’t the time for wasteful arguments.” He opened his eyes again. “Come inside. You must explain your journey so far.” Kendo and Ryo entered and walked into Kendo’s room. Ryo explained Ryo’s entire journey so far ranging from losing Leon in Agrabah to fighting Darky and encountering Riku at Hollow Bastion.
Kendo listened carefully and analyzed what Ryo explained. “It seems like there is a new organization on the horizons; a powerful one too. I believe you have encountered three of them so far. The one at the very beginning of your journey, Kagai, and the girl you met here. It doesn’t make sense though. Sora closed all of the Keyholes which should have caused most of the Heartless to disappear. But why have so many returned?” Kendo evaluated.
“Maybe the new organization has the power to summon Heartless? That girl could summon that dark beast and Kagai also had the ability to summon the darkness in Sabor.” Ryo suggested.
“I think you could be on to something… Maybe this organization could be similar to Organization XIII. Maybe this group could be the most powerful group of Heartless. It would make sense that they would go after the Keyblade wielders.” Kendo theorized.
“Only Sora, Riku, and I are the Keyblade wielders though. And Sora and Riku are missing…which means…” Ryo gulped.
“Yes. This means they will go to extraordinary means to track you down. I’m sure that sending that little girl here was to accident. I believe that the Heartless have returned from this organization’s power to summon them. If we can eliminate them all, then we might be able to destroy all of the Heartless.”
Ryo thought to himself. “Hey, wait a minute! Didn’t you say something about only one Keyblade wielder at a time? Riku was still out there with a Keyblade and Sora is still alive…I know it.”
“Riku is the exception to the rule. He’s a special case… You, I can not explain. If Sora is not gone, I am astonished on how you have a Keyblade. If Riku was here, we might be able to get some answers.”
“So what did happen here…?” Ryo looked around confused and saddened.
“Oh yes! I almost forgot in all of this news! You see, this world became Hollow Bastion once Maleficent, a dark and evil queen, took over. It seems she has returned and retaken it. We stood no chance since Leon and the others were gone. The only ones left were Ansem and I. The King was gone by the time you even got here the first time. He went to go find Sora before you met Ansem. The Heartless came here though and Ansem was taken and locked inside Maleficent’s castle. They didn’t take me because I was…hiding…” Kendo looked ashamed.
Ryo looked saddened. “I’m sorry to hear that. But it isn’t your fault. You couldn’t have done anything against the Heartless! How did you fend off the Heartless?”
“I actually received help from a Keyblade wielder. Now that you told me of your encountering of Riku, I’m sure it was him. I messaged for him to come. He agreed once I told him of Sora. We need someone to help get back…umm…what was it called?”
“I couldn’t remember the name of this world before either! Once I remembered Hollow Bastion, I forgot the true name of this town…I got it. I’ll go and save Ansem and defeat Maleficent. Then, I’ll continue to look for Sora and Leon along with Riku.”
“No!” Kendo warned. “You cannot take on Maleficent by yourself! She has command over the Heartless as well and she has grown stronger in power. I advise you to find Sora, Riku, or Leon first and then come back here and face Maleficent. In the meantime, I will hide so they won’t get me!”
“Hmm…It’s a risky idea. I don’t want to leave you alone. Is there any way I could at least restore Hollow Bastion to….whatever it was called?” Ryo asked.
“No. You must defeat Maleficent first. But you are just not strong enough yet!” Kendo pleaded.
“…Alright.” Ryo swallowed his pride. “But once I find help, I’m coming right back!”
“Good. Wait a minute!” Kendo ran behind his desk and searched around. His lifted out a small spark of light and handed it to Ryo. “This…Ryo…is an ability orb! There are a few of these around the universe. If you find them, they will merge with your Keyblade to unlock more strength in your Keyblade.”
Ryo summoned his Keyblade. He held out the spark in his palm. The spark floated in the air and went into Ryo’s Keyblade. A light appeared from it and soon vanished. Ryo’s Keyblade now had one silver line down his Keyblade from the top of it, down the middle, and to the end of the hilt of his Keyblade. “You should now have more strength in your Keyblade as well as learned new spells.” Kendo explained.
“Thank you Kendo.” Ryo smiled.
Kendo smiled back and nodded. “Now, how do you expect to travel from world to world?”
“Umm… I haven’t figured that one out yet. This Keyblade usually just shines and then takes me to random places.” Ryo laughed a little embarrassed.
Kendo chuckled. “The Keyblade is a very powerful weapon. I believe wherever and whenever it may take you, that is the place that needs you the most.”
Ryo nodded. His Keyblade began to glow. Ryo smiled and knew it was time for him to go to another world. He ran back outside with Kendo. Ryo’s Keyblade did the normal routine and Ryo began to leave Hollow Bastion. He waved to Kendo on his way out and looked at this world. It was covered by darkness…by Heartless. Ryo knew that when he came back, he would fix this world. A couple of minutes later, his Keyblade began to dart down, and Ryo got ready for another part of his adventure. He just hoped it included Sora, Riku, or Leon.

Ryo landed outside a huge castle. As he looked around, he gazed at the beauty of this world. The night was dark and starry as Ryo got a great feeling of warmth and happiness. There were magnificent walls and structures everywhere. He looked at the grand castle. It had to be at least two stories tall and it was as long as a mansion could be. While being caught up in the castle’s beauty, something struck Ryo’s attention. What is this…Ryo wondered to himself. He felt a strange feeling of darkness looming in the halls of this castle. He also felt a creepy presence of the gargoyle statues at the main door. He thought it would be best to check it out. As he headed forward, the gargoyle statues began to move. Heartless?...Bring it on!” Ryo challenged them as his Keyblade materialized into his hand. Two Gargoyles were charging Ryo. He dodged the first one which swung the stone weapon it was holding. Ryo studied them as he dodged their moves. He quickly noticed that the gargoyles were powerful, but extremely slow in their attacks. Ryo saw a huge window of opportunity that the Gargoyles left between the charging of their attacks and their actual attacks.
As one of the Gargoyles missed Ryo and the other one began to charge up its attack, Ryo leaped behind the Gargoyle and slashed his Keyblade a few times. The Gargoyle slowly turned around and looked unharmed. Note…apparently Gargoyle Statues have incredible defense… Ryo thought to himself as the Gargoyle slashed its weapon horizontally at Ryo, sending him flying into the main door. He hit against it and fell on the ground. He stuck his Keyblade in the ground and used it to push himself back up. The two Gargoyles lined up adjacent to one another with a small gap in the middle. They were a few yards away from Ryo. Suddenly, a black-coated figure appeared.
“Oh ho! I applaud you on your tremendous work!!” the coated figure mocked. The man had a deep, powerful voice that echoed through Ryo’s ears. His voice sounded mean, just what Ryo would expect from a punk.
“Who are you? What organization are you from?!” Ryo ordered.
“Don’t be so hasty pawn,” the man took off his hood and smirked. He had dark, red hair parted down the middle. It branched off into different clumps of hair. “My name is Duuran. I am the second in command of the most powerful Heartless. We are known as the ‘Human Heartless’...The eight chosen ones of darkness… The only Heartless strong enough to take the shapes of humans. Our darkness is so powerful, we can summon the Heartless at will. Darkness fears us!” Duuran proclaimed.
“So strong? I already defeated that arrogant Kagai!” Ryo retaliated.
“He was a weakling compared to us. He was the weakest member…by far. We are Keyblade Hunters. We kill those who wield the Keyblade for a living. We will defeat you, pawn, and the next wielder as well. We will do this forever. To destroy all those who think that light is superior to darkness. No…Darkness is immortal. It lives forever. We will live forever. As long as the Keyblade wielders shall live, then the Human Heartless shall as well.” He chuckled.
“Not if I have anything to do with it!” Ryo glared.
“You couldn’t even beat that weakling, Darky! Oh…and don’t worry. We have already taken care of that pest Riku, and it’s almost a matter of time until we find that even more annoying Sora.” He smiled.
“What did you do to Riku!!” Ryo fumed.
“Settle down pawn, there was nothing you could do…nor will there ever be! Ha, ha, ha!! One down…two to go…We would have already defeated you already…but you are too much fun!! Besides, you play a part bigger than you’ll ever imagine! Enjoy the present we left in the castle…” he smiled and snapped and with that, he was gone.
“Aaaaaah!!” Ryo raged. He charged the first Gargoyle and slashed it with his Keyblade. “Thunder!” he yelled as he shocked the Gargoyle. He leaped behind it before the Gargoyle could counter and used Fira. He blasted the Gargoyle down and leaped downwards with his Keyblade. He stabbed into the Gargoyle and it disappeared. As the other one began to charge, Ryo tossed his Keyblade at the Gargoyle. “Strike Raid!” he commanded. The Gargoyle was hit once with the Keyblade and then it came back and hit it down. Ryo got his Keyblade back in his hand and flipped forward with a slash, finishing the Gargoyle. “…” Ryo stared at the ground. How can he defeat the remaining seven Human Heartless if he couldn’t even fight off Darky. Ryo wondered if this was pointless. No way! Ryo decided to himself. He knew he would keep on fighting. He had to help his friends. And sitting around, moping, isn’t helping. At least now he knows Sora is out there and that he was right about the Heartless being controlled by Duuran’s men. Still, he wondered how powerful they could be. And even how powerful the first in command could be… Oh well, he knew he could get stronger. He looked ahead at the door and had to go in. It bothered him that Duuran left a “present” in the castle.
Ryo walked up to the door and pushed it. When he entered, Ryo gasped with amazement. The castle was even more beautiful from the inside. The entry room was huge with doors all over the right and left sides of the room. Straight ahead was one staircase that led straight up to another door. From the staircase, two other staircases sprouted off of it and went right and left. Ryo heard a vicious roar.
“GET OUT OF MY CASTLE!!!!” the monster screamed. The scream was so intimidating that Ryo almost fell down in fear and began to shiver a bit. He got the chills but regained his cool.
“I’m just trying to help.” Ryo answered, looking around as he walked towards the center of the room. Ryo heard big footsteps and then saw a shadow behind the staircase. “Who’s there…?” Ryo asked nervously. The shadow leaped out and began leaping around the room. Ryo could only get glimpses of it. He only saw blotches of mostly brown fur. It was like it was some kind of bear or worse…Ryo braced himself and got ready to protect himself. The monster stopped on one of the support beams. Ryo could see it clearly now. The monster had a vicious looking face. It had brown fur with a mixture of black in it. It also had sharp, dangerous claws and mean, clenching teeth. Basically, this monster was a ferocious talking beast.
“Get out….OR ELSE!!” it roared at Ryo.
“No! I’m not leaving!” Ryo stood his ground.
“Fine then…YOU WILL DIE!!” he roared as the monster tackled Ryo at an incredible speed. Ryo was pinned on the ground as the monster began to clench its teeth into Ryo. Ryo quickly reacted by maneuvering his Keyblade in a position where the point of the blade was pointing up towards the monster’s head. “Stop!!” Ryo yelled and his Keyblade shot out a small beam at the monster. The monster froze as it was about to claw Ryo to pieces. Ryo got away quickly and hid behind a support beam. The monster exited from its trance. It looked around, confused, and roared viciously. It looked around, hunting its prey. Ryo had to get a plan. But before he could think of one, the monster crashed through the beam and slammed into Ryo. Ryo was squished against the wall. The monster roared and picked up a large piece of the beam. He picked it up and through it like a spear towards Ryo. “Aaaaaah!” Ryo reacted in fear. He quickly pointed his Keyblade down and cast Blizzara followed with Fira. The floor melted and Ryo fell through. Ryo fell quite far until he hit the ground. He got up, nothing was hurt too badly. He looked up and saw the pieces of the beam scattered across it. Hopefully, the monster thought Ryo was dead. Ryo looked around. He was in an old, dreary basement. Ryo was quite disappointed at what it looked like compared to the rest of the castle. Ryo began to walk when Shadows and Soldiers appeared.
“Heartless!” Ryo concentrated. They gathered around Ryo in a circle. He thought it would be the best way to try out his new move. Ryo smiled and then spun his Keyblade in his hands. He spun them faster and faster and then let go, screaming “Spin Cycle!” The Keyblade spun around Ryo and slashed all the Heartless as they were defeated. Niiiice! Ryo thought to himself. As Ryo progressed through the basement, he came across a dead end. “…Nothing here…” he looked disappointed.
“Nothing here? Look down lad!” a voice appeared.
Ryo looked around confused and glanced down. Believe it or not, there it was: A walking, talking candelabra. Ryo flinched in surprise and tried not to laugh. “Umm…hi?” Ryo smiled.
“My name is Lumière. It is nice to meet you.” He spoke with courtesy as he bowed.
“Hey, my name is Ryo! Nice too meet ya Lumière! Say…why are you a candle?” Ryo questioned, pointing at Lumière as if he was fake.
“Excuse me, sir! I am a candelabra!!” Lumière cleared his throat (if he had one), “If you must know. An evil witch cast a spell on this whole castle, changing our master and us servants from humans into these objects!!” he proclaimed.
“That’s awful,” Ryo sounded sad. “Wait, what do you mean ‘us’”?
“Oh, where are my manners? Everyone, come out!” Lumière cried. If Ryo wasn’t freaked out before, he was now. The furniture in the dead end began to move. The small pendulum clock began to move towards Lumière as did a teapot and a little cup. A dresser began to become lively in the corner. “I would like you to meet Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts and her son Chip. Also, in the corner is Armoire.” Lumière spoke as if this was normal. All the furniture began to talk and greet Ryo.
Ryo chuckled, confused, and waved weakly. “So, these are your friends?” Ryo looked a little freaked out. “Umm…anyway, do you guys know there is a rampaging monster upstairs?”
All of the furniture looked at each other, saddened. “We had hoped the master would have fought off the darkness. It seems he has been enraged again. We thought those nasty Heartless would have been gone, but now they’re back. They caused Beast to throw us all down here and lock Belle in her room…” Lumière looked down depressed.
“Wait…that monster is your master?!” Ryo looked astonished.
“It seems like he has succumbed to the darkness again…” Lumière spoke silently. Cogsworth broke in, “Only the Keyblade wielder can relinquish the darkness from Beast’s heart and return him back to normal. And Sora is no where to be found!!”
Ryo, recognizing that they knew Sora, got excited. “You know Sora?! Wow…so he was here! Don’t worry. I’m a Keyblade wielder, I can subdue the Beast’s darkness.”
All of the furniture began to cheer with joy and happiness. “All we have to do now is get through the secret exit and make our way back upstairs. Once there, you can confront Beast and get rid of the nasty darkness within.” Cogsworth smiled. Lumière glared at him and said “I was going to say that!” They began to argue.
“Hey, hey guys!” Ryo said a bit uncomfortable. “How come you guys haven’t gone through the secret exit yet?”
Cogsworth and Lumière stopped arguing and Lumière answered. “That would be because we are not high enough to reach the latch that will activate the gate to open so we can exit!”
“Alright! Just take me to this gate and I’ll get us out of here!” Ryo said heroically. The group guided Ryo through the basement until they came across a gate. It was covered by chains and a black mist was surrounding it.
“That’s odd…I don’t remember that there…” Lumière questioned.
“It’s probably nothing. I got this.” Ryo walked coolly to the gate and saw the latch. Time to be a hero he thought to himself. Just then, two giant dark purple, cold hands of darkness reached out from the gate and one of them grabbed Ryo.
“Hell, hell, hell, hell!!” he screamed as he got lifted up. The furniture gasped in horror and ran off in different directions to hide. Ryo pushed vigorously to get out of the grasp of the hands. He struggled but couldn’t get out. The monster was different from other Heartless. The gate had chains over it and two dark portals came out of it with the hands coming out of them. The mist around it gave them the opportunity for a sneak attack and Ryo fell right for it. Damn! He thought to himself. The right hand, which was holding Ryo, smashed him into the ground by flattening his palm on the ground. Ryo howled in pain. The hand picked him up again and tossed him to the left hand. The left hand began to clench its fist in an attempt to crush Ryo. Ryo screamed louder. The left hand threw Ryo into the wall opposite of the gate. Ryo flew into it and hit into it head first. He smashed against the wall and fell down. The hands retreated back into the gate as the mist disappeared.
Ryo got up slowly, injured from the immense dark powers of the hands. Ryo was sure that the hands must’ve been some sort of powerful Heartless that was summoned. He wondered however, who summoned it. “Cure!” Ryo yelled to himself as he cast a cure spell on himself, healing his wounds. He took out his Keyblade this time and slowly approached the gate. He knew his fight wasn’t finished yet.
Both hands shot out of the gate and the left one immediately tried to grab Ryo. He rolled out of the way and countered with an uppercut strike from his Keyblade. He cast Fira on it and leaped onto the arm of the hand, away from its fist. He began to slash it until the right hand went for Ryo. Ryo saw the opportunity and leaped up. The right hand missed Ryo and he slashed downwards into the right hand, clashing it with the left one. The left hand got enraged and began to attack the right one. They began to start attacking each other when Ryo jumped in front of them. “Strike Raid!!” he commanded and he dealt the finishing blow to both of the hands as they disintegrated into nothing. The chains of the gate fell off and the mist disappeared as well. Ryo let out a sigh of relief. He used Cure to heal his wounds.
“How about that?” he smiled to the furniture which came out of their hiding spots.
“Ehh…Sora was better.” Cogsworth said.
“What?!” Ryo said. “Aww!!” he crossed his arms and began to grumble.
“Oh, there’s no time for nonsense! We have to save Beast!” Lumière ordered.
Ryo nodded and pulled the latch. The gate went up and Ryo went up the stairs with the furniture. Ryo and the group made their way back to the entrance hall. “He must be in the Ballroom!” Lumière suggested looking at the time on Cogsworth. They argued a bit but Ryo ignored it. They headed into the ballroom and saw Beast.
Beast turned around and roared. Realizing it was Ryo, he got even angrier. “It’s YOU!!” he growled.
“Come on Beast? Are you scared to fight me?” Ryo taunted. Beast glared and then howled ferociously. Beast charged Ryo. Before they collided, Ryo leaped over the Beast, striking with his Keyblade and landing his few hits as he flipped over. Beast hit into the wall and growled. He climbed up the wall and went to the edge of the railing above. He leaped down directly towards Ryo. “Spin Cycle!!” Ryo commanded as he spun his Keyblade in the air and let it go. The Keyblade darted at Beast and hit him several times. Ryo dodged by rolling backwards as Beast smashed onto the floor. Ryo’s Keyblade appeared back in Ryo’s hand and Beast lay defeated. Ryo, realizing the battle was over, let his Keyblade disappear. Suddenly, a dark spark descended out of Beast. It landed on the ground, several feet away. The spark exploded as darkness flew everyone, forming a new monster. A very powerful Heartless was being formed. When the darkness settled, a monster with haunting, red eyes and a hunched body. He had a dark blue color to him. He was thin throughout his body but very tall. He had long, red spikes all over its back. At the end of his hands were sharp, red claws. The same for his feet. On its chest, a heart emblem was etched into his skin. Darkness surrounded the beast with chains all along its arms. The dark beast roared its name in a coarse, demonic voice, “Red Haunt!!!” Ryo gulped and took out his Keyblade and got prepared for the fight of his life.

Took me a while to write this. Longest chapter so far...Hope you all enjoy!!

Chapter 4: Unwelcoming Sleep

Red Haunt was one of the most vicious and evil looking things Ryo had ever seen. Ryo felt the energy of the powerful darkness he was exerting. A thin coat of darkness could be seen surrounding Red Haunt. Then, Red Haunt began to the offensive. He started to charge towards Ryo. Not only was Red Haunt scary, but he was tall. Very tall… He was easily taller than Darky and he was tall enough! As Red Haunt came in front of Ryo, it threw a powerful punch downwards. Ryo dodged left but when Red Haunt’s fist hit the ground, a dark pulse of energy hit Ryo and pushed him further a bit. Ryo lost his balance and the Red Haunt did not miss this opportunity to strike. It ran towards Ryo and kicked him like a soccer ball. Ryo flew towards the ceiling. He covered his face as he was near the top. Before he hit, he felt a painful tug. When Ryo looked behind him, Red Haunt’s chain on his right arm was fully extended and wrapped Ryo’s legs together. Red Haunt laughed maniacally and pulled. Ryo darted down towards the ground and hit. Red Haunt pulled again and started to spin Ryo around and smashed him into the walls. Ryo cried out in pain. Red Haunt spun Ryo in the air and then tossed him up. Ryo shot like a rocket and flew up, crashing through the ceiling. Ryo got way too high because his ears started to clog from the air pressure. Suddenly, Ryo felt himself being pulled back down and he remembered about that thing called “gravity”. Aww crap… Ryo thought to himself as he began to fall back down. Ryo smashed back into the castle and onto the ground. Ryo was pretty much already out cold. But Red Haunt wouldn’t stop until Ryo was completely dead. “Well, that’s about it for me…” Ryo said weakly.
His vision was blurred as he saw Red Haunt, coming towards him. Ryo saw a brown figure get up behind Red Haunt and then he saw the figure jump on Red Haunt. Red Haunt howled in pain and tried to reach the area where the figure was. He couldn’t reach it and the figure continued to slash Red Haunt’s back. Suddenly, Lumière appeared next to Ryo. “Here, take this Mega-Potion! Quickly, use it!!” he yelled. Ryo slowly took the Mega-Potion and used it. Whoa!! Ryo reacted to the potion. He felt full strength again. He thanked Lumière who then pointed out that Beast was fighting Red Haunt. Ryo had to react quickly. “Lumière, go into the other room with the other furniture and hide. Beast and I will handle Red Haunt!” Lumière hesitated but then commanded the others out.
Ryo locked his eyes on his enemy. Red Haunt was furious. He yelled and dark pulses shot out of his back. Beast was shot off and landed not too far from Ryo. “Cure!” Ryo yelled, healing Beast’s wounds. Beast got up and quickly ran to Ryo. “Thank you…” Beast said. Ryo smiled and nodded. The two had to work together if they wanted to beat this monster. Red Haunt was as mad as ever. It charged again towards Ryo. Ryo leaped to the left and then rolled behind Red Haunt. He started to slash his Keyblade at Red Haunt. But nothing happened. “My attacks…aren’t working!?” Ryo said astonished. Beast jumped forward, trying to hit Red Haunt. He was blasted back by a dark energy ball summoned from the hand of Red Haunt. Beast hit against the wall. He got back up slowly but not before he was blasted by two beams of dark energy. Beast was hit against the wall with two black chains holding him against him. Great, Beast is stuck and my attacks are useless… Ryo thought hopelessly. Red Haunt’s chains whipped around and grabbed Ryo by the arms. Ryo was flipped over in front of Red Haunt. Ryo managed to get out of the chains though and Red Haunt recoiled a bit. Ryo saw a chance to attack. “If my Keyblade attacks from behind didn’t work, let’s try from the front! Strike Raid!!” he yelled as he sent his Keyblade towards Red Haunt’s face. Before it collided, Red Haunt recovered and quickly got one of his chains to grab the Keyblade. He took the Keyblade and threw it back at Ryo....faster. Ryo barely dodged it as it whizzed by. As it came back around Ryo cast Stop on it. Not the greatest way to get it back, but it worked. Ryo ran over and grabbed his Keyblade. Then Ryo learned that rule number one against Red Haunt was…Don’t turn your back against him. Ryo felt two chains wrapped against his legs. Ryo started to get pulled back and Ryo slammed his Keyblade in the ground. It proved little resistance as Red Haunt pulled much harder and Ryo lost his grip of his Keyblade. Ryo flew towards Red Haunt. Red Haunt dangled Ryo right in front of his face. He laughed and when Ryo looked down, darkness surrounded Red Haunt’s feet. Red Haunt threw Ryo down into the darkness.
“What the hellll!!!” Ryo screamed as he traveled down this mass of darkness. Ryo went unconscious from the power of the darkness. He woke up, what felt like, several minutes later. Ryo got up and looked around. “Ugh…that guy must have a weakness…Where am I?” Ryo was surrounded by nothingness. Wherever he was…he felt so empty and lonely. He couldn’t see much except a small light surrounding him. “Hellooooo!” Ryo’s voice echoed as he tried to find out if anyone was here.
“I see you…” a demonic voice laughed.
Ryo turned around. “Who’s there!?” he yelled. He looked carefully, trying to notice anything differently.
“Welcome to my world of darkness. This place is called Nightmare. I am a special Heartless with the power to send people into this realm. Defeat me and you can leave. If not…” the voice of Red Haunt paused and began to laugh.
Damn! It’s Red Haunt. And I’m in his world…Nightmare? I better be on the offensive. For all I know, this world probably gives advantage to Red Haunt’s power. But if I can beat him, then I can leave and fight him from the outside again! Ryo planned. Nothing happened for a few moments but Ryo took out his Keyblade. It worked somewhat like a flashlight since light shined off of it. Ryo felt warm next to his Keyblade. He knew as long as he had it, he’d be alright. Suddenly, chains came in from all directions. The chains were just like Red Haunt’s. Ryo was easily grabbed and all of the chains glowed bright red. “Ahh!” Ryo felt the pain, but it was more than just the restriction. These chains were special.
“Do you feel the pain of my improved chains?” Red Haunt laughed. “These chains will drain your power and transport it to me! That’s my ultimate power. My Power Chains will suck the life out of you until you die and I become more powerful than ever!”
“I’ll never let that happen…” Ryo barely could speak because the Power Chains were really taking a toll on him. Ryo found enough strength to push his hand out. He grasped his Keyblade tightly. His other hand, unoccupied with the Keyblade, began to glow a clear, white color. Ryo screamed and let out a ball of light energy. It hit the ground and exploded into hundreds of light shards, breaking all of the chains. How did I do that! Ryo stared at his hands, sizzling a little bit from the light energy.
“Argh…How does he know how to do that?” Red Haunt grumbled to himself. “That damned Sora kid was the only one who could pull that stunt on me.”
“Is that all you got?” Ryo taunted.
“Ha! Don’t test me kid. Let’s see how much you like this!” Red Haunt laughed as his voice faded into the darkness. Ryo got ready for another attack. A chain whipped out and lashed Ryo on the back. He fell on one knee and winced in pain. The chain retreated back into the darkness as Red Haunt chuckled. Ryo got back up slowly. Another chain came out and tripped Ryo. It retreated and another chain came from above. It started lashing at Ryo’s back. More chains came from the top and held Ryo down. The chains started to glow red and they began to suck the power out of Ryo again. “And just to make sure you don’t move!” Red Haunt spoke deviously. Suddenly, a slightly larger chain came down. It had a sharper point at the end that glowed black. The chain shot down into Ryo’s back.
Ryo was in so much pain he could not even speak. “…” he gasped and then coughed up blood. “…the…pain…” he said extremely weakly. The bigger chain began to glow brighter than the others. It was more powerful than the others. More chains came and started to drain the power out of Ryo. His only chance was to use that light attack he used before. He slowly turned his head towards his hand. He saw his hand and started concentrated. He tried to send all of his power to his hand without the Keyblade. He closed his eyes and when he opened, it glowed the same color as before. Ryo screamed, letting the stored energy unleash. Light shards flew everywhere, smashing all the chains except the big one. As more shards flooded out, the big chain started taking more and more hits.
“No…impossible!!” Red Haunt yelled. The big chain started to break as thin scratches were surfacing all over it. The light shards shined brighter and finally the chain broke. Red Haunt howled and Ryo smiled with relief as his body began to float in the air. Ryo shot upwards. As he got higher and higher, he saw a light. As he got closer, the light shined so brightly that he couldn’t see. But Ryo didn’t care; he knew he would be escaping. When Ryo opened his eyes again, he was standing in front of Red Haunt with his Keyblade. Ryo looked a little confused. Red Haunt looked mad. For once, it wasn’t laughing and had a frown on his face. Ryo noticed that his wound was completely gone but he felt as if it was never there.
“Damn! You are the first person to escape the Nightmare world!” Red Haunt snorted.
Ryo realized why he wasn’t wounded. “Aha! I get it now! I never fell in the darkness in the first place. Your dark powers put me into a sleep where it seemed like I did but I really was out here. You came into my mind as a “Nightmare” and tried to kill me there. But it didn’t work,” Ryo smiled. “Because my light will always prevail the darkness!” he roared with newfound confidence.
Ryo charged Red Haunt with his Keyblade and leaped over his head. “What?!” Red Haunt gasped as he looked up. Ryo was a few feet in the air above Red Haunt. He pointed his Keyblade down and shouted. “Light always wins!!” And as he said those words, a spark of light appeared on the tip of Ryo’s Keyblade. It shot off in a small, single beam and hit Red Haunt, traveling down until it reached his upper chest, right where his heart emblem was. Red Haunt yelled nervously and upset. He scrambled his hands at his chest, trying to stop the light. When he covered the light, shards exploded everywhere and the light blasted Red Haunt. The light covered the whole room and Ryo was blinded. He jumped backwards and landed, closing his eyes. He heard Red Haunt scream. When the light cleared, there was nothing there except two chains.
Ryo sighed and fell down, looking up. “Oh man…How did I do that now? I’m a strange kid…” he laughed. He got back up on his feet and looked at the wall. The chains that were holding Beast were broken and gone but Beast was unconscious. As Ryo passed through the center of the room, he made his way towards Beast. As he was passing over the chains, they began to rumble. Ryo looked down only to be ambushed. The chains wrapped around Ryo’s legs and held him on the ground. Darkness formed in front of him and Red Haunt appeared, but there were holes through a big chunk of his body all over the place. “How are you still alive!?” Ryo looked unbelievingly.
“You’re little trick may have gotten me a bit, but it didn’t kill me!” he roared. “I guess now would be the best time to show you my true form!” he snickered. Red Haunt growled ferociously and transformed. All of the holes in his body were filled with chains and his whole torso was wrapped in chains as if some kind of armor. His legs and arms then became covered with the chains. Around his head, chains started to make a helmet. The chains covered most of his face except his eyes. Everything else was covered with chains. The chains rattled and half of them changed black while the other half became dark purple.
“You’re time is up. The Keyblade warrior shall fall!” he bellowed. Chains shot out of his hands and formed a sword made of chain. It was at least four times as large as Ryo’s Keyblade. Ryo gulped as the other hand transformed into a sword too. Great. Not only do I have to fight through his armor of chains, but I also have to prevent being chopped into tiny Ryo bits by chain swords!! Ryo complained.
Red Haunt began to charge towards Ryo. Ryo had to act fast. He smacked his Keyblade against both chains, getting loose. He jumped backwards and the chains followed him. Ryo had to keep rolling from getting caught by the chains. He came up with a plan. It was a long shot but it was worth it. Ryo rolled strategically, dodging the chains while also dodging the mighty swings of Red Haunt’s swords. Ryo made a circle around Red Haunt as the chains followed him. Ryo ran until he ran out of space and was against the wall. He flinched and pressed against the wall. The chains stopped in front of Ryo, unable to move. Yes! Ryo thought proudly. The chains tried to push forward and when they did, Red Haunt fell over them. Red Haunt crushed the chains and was stuck. That solved both of his problems. “It’s time to finish this!!” Ryo ran over to Red Haunt. He was about to start wailing him with his Keyblade when Red Haunt had a pool of darkness underneath him. Red Haunt laughed in his evil way and descended into the darkness. Suddenly, the whole floor was covered by darkness. Ryo cursed under his breath. Almost had him! He thought.
Ryo got ready for a surprise attack. He waited carefully for Red Haunt to resurface. The darkness on the ground shook and Red Haunt shot out. Covered in darkness, he stared at Ryo with pain and anger. Red Haunt was free from the chains. Now, four chains came out of the ground. They quickly lashed and grabbed Ryo’s arms and legs. Red Haunt charged towards Ryo and when he came in front of him, Red Haunt lifted its chain leg and kicked Ryo. Ryo flew rapidly and smashed into the wall, leaving a big crack in the wall. Ryo heard a loud shake and what sounded like a cracking noise. Ryo looked up and he saw that the support beam broke and the part of the top floor he was under was caving in. Ryo tried to get out of the way but it was too late. Ryo was pummeled to the ground and buried with the broken debris. The portion of the floor above his was completely collapsed and Ryo was invisible. The debris covered him completely. Red Haunt laughed at his victory. “I knew I would win…but I have to make sure…” he began as his chains shot from his body into the debris. They searched around until they found Ryo. The chains pierced through Ryo’s limbs as he was pulled out painfully. Ryo screamed horrifically with pain. When he came out, there was dust and blood all over him. His black hair was all messed up and his face was sad and in so much pain. Any human would’ve found it unbearable to watch but Red Haunt was a Heartless… Red Haunt ripped the chains out of Ryo’s body and they latched back onto his body. He laughed at the sight of Ryo, battered and defenseless. Red Haunt came closer to Ryo.
“How do you feel? Pathetic? Defenseless? Good. You deserve it. All Keyblade wielders deserve to suffer! I will make sure all of them are dead. As you know, I’m no ordinary Heartless. Before you die, I might as well tell you a little secret…” Red Haunt taunted. Ryo glared confused. He coughed weakly and awaited this “secret”. He knew it must not be good but at least it could give him more time. If he just could figure out what to do in a situation like this! “You see,” Red Haunt began. “I am not just a Heartless. I…” Red Haunt’s chains opened up as black smoke came out. Ryo saw a shadowy figure arising from the smoke. It looked like a human. Ryo could see a black coat on the figure and as he recently knew, that was always a bad thing…As the figure stepped out, Ryo was stunned in disbelief. Out of Red Haunt came a man. A man Ryo recognized. It was Damian. The apprentice of Kendo. One of the men Kendo trusted with his lives. How could he be evil!? “Damian…!” Ryo muttered unbelievingly.
“That’s right. I am one of the eight Human Heartless!” Damian cackled with darkness and arrogance.
“How…could…you be a Heart…less…?” Ryo barely could form the words.
“I was always a Heartless. This is my true form. As Red Haunt I am powerful enough, but as Damian, I am unstoppable. You see, it all started when I was chosen. Once I become one of the Human Heartless, my master wanted me to infiltrate the system. I was young when I became a Human Heartless. My master thought it was the perfect opportunity. He cloaked my heart with light, pure light, that got Kendo’s attention. I was placed in Hollow Bastion where that fool took me in as an apprentice. I did everything he asked but at the same time, I recorded all sorts of information for my boss! So once I left to go find you, I saw it as the perfect opportunity to visit the master. I went there, he got rid of that fake light, I told him all the news, and bam! He makes me more powerful by giving me this ability.” Damian explained as he pointed up towards Red Haunt which seemed like it was “deactivated” to a point. “I use this form to hide myself from being known. I used it to defeat those losers that Kendo sent out.” Cloud…Yuffie…Leon! Ryo thought angrily. He felt so useless, listening to all of this. “The boss says its better that way so no one finds out I am a double agent. Well, now that I told you everything, I guess I can kill you.” He laughed.
“…Wait…Can you at least tell…me…what happened…to Ri…ku…and So…ra..?” Ryo could barely say.
Damian laughed. “Ha! Fine…Riku…that weakling we have locked up in our world. The boss said something about using him as a weapon. I don’t get it but that’s probably why I’m not the boss.” He shrugged. “And for Sora…that little punk…he’s been evading us so far…but we’ll get him soon enough.” Damian grinned.
Riku…No, what will they do to him!? At least I know Sora is safe… Ryo thought. “Now, I’ll have to kill you. No hard feelings right?” Damian laughed as he walked back into Red Haunt. Ryo tried to move but his legs were injured to badly. He couldn’t get up or grab his Keyblade which was a few feet away from his hand.
Back in control of Red Haunt, Damian said, “Feel my wrath Keyblade wielder!!” He lifted up his right sword and got prepared to skewer Ryo and finish this. Well…this is it… Ryo thought to himself. Ironic…this is probably the third time I said that… he laughed to himself. Ryo somehow had a feeling that it wasn’t over. He had a sure feeling that he would live. But how could he? Damian was about to kill him! Ryo closed his eyes and waited for something to happen. Ryo heard a loud sound and a man’s voice. “Finally…” Ryo opened his eyes and turned his head. Damian also turned, puzzled. Standing there was a man. Well, he actually looked more like a teenager since his face was a little bit more “babyish” than others. Sort of like Ryo’s. He had spiky brown hair and relaxing, pure blue eyes. He had a light colored tan but it was fairly obvious he was white. He wore a red shirt and a black jacket over it. He wore a chain, a lot like Ryo, but he couldn’t see what the figurine at the end of it was. He had black shorts with yellow lining on the bottom of each pant. Then Ryo looked at his hand and got really excited. The man was holding a Keyblade; a silver blade with a yellow hilt and a keychain on it with a figurine that Ryo couldn’t make out either. His vision was a tad blurred because of his painful wounds.
Damian yelled with anger. “You?! Of ALL people, I have to run into you?” he put his head down and sighed. “Now my plans are screwed.”
“You bet they are.” The man chuckled. He moved so fast that Ryo though the teleported through Red Haunt. He started from one side and was at the side opposite within milliseconds. Red Haunt screamed with pain. When Ryo looked at him, he saw a big gash, cut through the chains and his darkness. Ryo was surprised at the power of this person.
“Damned Keyblade wielders always ruining the fun!!” he scowled. The man maneuvered himself so perfectly that he slashed while jumping backwards and spinning, getting maximum hits with his Keyblade on Red Haunt. Red Haunt howled with pain, unable to do much. The chains fell off of him as Damian descended out of Red Haunt. Red Haunt disintegrated into tiny specs of darkness and then disappeared. Damian was holding his side, clearly cut badly. He’s in no position to fight!!...and that’s coming from the guy who can’t even move Ryo thought.
Damian waved his left hand and opened a dark portal. Damian ran inside of it. The man started to chase into the portal before remembering about Ryo. He went over to Ryo and said, “Curaga!!” Ryo’s wounds were completely healed and he felt fine. Whoaaaaaa!!! Ryo thought to himself in disbelief. He felt even better than before the battle. He got up and looked at his body. Not a single scratch… Ryo thought impressed.
“I have to go!” the man said as he ran towards the portal.
“Wait, who are you!?” Ryo asked.
“My name is Sora!” he answered as he jumped through the portal in time and it closed. Ryo laughed... “WHAAAAAAATTTTTTT!!!!!????” Ryo screamed louder than he ever had before. He then fell on the floor unconscious.

“I just met Sora…” Ryo muttered to himself as he woke back up. He opened his eyes on the ground of the same place he fell. He was staring at the Beast. And thankfully, he was back to normal. Ryo got up as the furniture marched over.
“Thank you…” Beast said ashamed of letting the darkness overcome him.
“You’re welcome! Although I couldn’t have done it without Sora…” Ryo said still amazed that it was the great Sora he has heard about. Well I found him…then lost him… Ryo scratched his head at the thought.
All of the furniture thanked Ryo for saving the Beast. “I must go see Belle!” the Beast remembered. He started to run out of the ballroom before turning to Ryo and thanking him again. They said goodbye and Ryo turned to the furniture.
“Thank you so much Ryo. We could not have done it without you!” Lumière thanked. “You are a true hero!” Cogsworth complimented.
“Thanks guys.” Ryo smiled. He noticed a small figurine on the floor where the dark portal was opened. Ryo walked over to it and picked it up. The figurine was a crown piece that looked like it belonged on a keychain or necklace. He put it in his pocket and decided to ask Kendo when he saw him again. He knew he had a much longer journey ahead of him now. He’s learning of new threats. How powerful could these Human Heartless be? Damian wasn’t even number two and he still was extremely powerful. How could have Damian been evil? Kendo trusted him and he was a traitor. He had to report this to Kendo before something happened to him. At least he knew that Sora was okay. Ryo certainly knew that Sora could take care of himself. But…what use am I? Ryo stared at his Keyblade. His smile faded away.
“So, will you be staying?” Lumière asked courteously.
“Oh, sorry, I have to leave!” Ryo said zoning back into the conversation. Just then, Ryo’s Keyblade shined and he knew his time was done here. “Well, that’s the cue.” The furniture didn’t know what Ryo was talking about but they soon did when his Keyblade darted up and he flew away, on to another world…to meet new friends…and new foes…

I started the first three pages of Chapter Five but unfortunately, I disliked where I was going with the chapter so I decided to start it over. So now I'm starting Chapter Five from scratch

I actually wrote tonight. I haven't the past week (because of MvC3 ) but I finished three pages of Chapter 5. So, still a long way to go but I'm liking the way this chapter is going so far

For those who have actually been reading my fanfic (first of all, I'd like to thank you), and wondering why this hasn't been updated, is because I'm taking a break for it. Hopefully I'll come back to it and finish it (I was probably only going to write 10-15 chapters anyway).

But the good news is that I am writing a new fanfic. I'll be posting it in a new topic within the next few days.
