You have to find them on twitter and just own them dude. Mods respond to pwnage. Epic pwnage. I once pwned Spockanort so bad I took her mod status for a month. By the end of January 2017 I had made over 600 dollars in mod revenue and I already got Nomura's phone number and private snapchat. It got to be too much pressure so naturally I gave her the position back.

It ain't easy

I mean thats a lot different what I remember. Before we had visitor messages, usually you got PM'd by an administrator, baby oil was involved, and a lot of stroking from what Cloud told me years before I got modded after they retired. I could be wrong though. Something about foot rubs for Ty.

I'm a retired mod btw.

imagine having a full time job that involves dealing with a horde of angry fans

now imagine doing it for free

i do think you get a lanyard once a year to pack yourself in a building overfilled with the finest fortnite players in all the land to wait 3 days and 3 nights in line to play children’s video games. if you buy a plane ticket

From an old forum I used to mod we used to say that if you ask to be modded, you probably won't be. Not to discourage you or anything, just be active and helpful whenever you can. If the forums need more mods they'll reach out. Not sure if that's how it works on KHI but I can't be too far off. Don't force it and don't romanticize it.

Yeah, that's a common rule used in many places I go to as well.
Not saying that's always the case, but asking to be a mod usually conveys the impression that you just want to be that special member and/or you want to take the forums into your own hands. It's like you care more about the title than to be on the forums. Lately, this was also proven true for Twitch and Discord chats.
Anytime I got to be mod or admin was because I was asked to or in very specific circumstances where the staff was actually recruiting (and even there the last call was still up to their judgement anyway)

Oh, okay. I've been trying to keep this really quiet but I'm a member mod on RPGamer. I can tell you; most places (including there) frown on any begging to be a mod. THEY ASK YOU.

That said, it is not a very glamorous job at all. I could burn your ears with tales..Like the time I had to deal with a spammer that erm, posted this really gross porno pic that I had to nuke real faaast! (I really wanted to get out the bleach bottle and wash my eyes out after that one.) Yes, spam shows up on every board, it's not as bad over there as it once was, but..ugh. Don't remind me. And spam is the biggest thing any mod has to deal with, not to mention rulebreakers and such. ^^

That said, not sorry I was asked to be one over there, tho it's gotten a lot quieter over there recently. ^^

I get requested to be a mod once every few weeks due to my squeaky clean track record as a poster but I'm really busy with musical theater, so next time I'll put in a good word for you homie.

Oh yeah, that happened at my place as well. It was one night when all the admins were away, and 4-5 spammers started posting all kind of stuff.
It was actually me being there and giving a hand that prompted them asking me to join.

Darkos; With me, it was a FAQ I wrote for the forum and the fact that I was pretty active over there that prompted them to offer me the job. So you can say, same sorta reasons. I still am active over there, it's just a lot quieter forum now.

Anyway the spam flood happened one day/evening when they just SLAMMED that forum; we're still cleaning up after that years later (since some of them just made a account with spammy sig/profile and ran away. Those take a lot longer to catch/ban, especially on a site as old as RPGamer since we have to go though thousands upon thousands of names), and it prompted the guy who installs the scripts to slap in a anti-spam plugin on the forum. It just got so bad, we were banning up to 3-10 a day at the worst of it. UGH..but you know what I mean.

(If you didn't guess, spammers get banned over at RPGamer. I think that's the case in a lot of places.)

The actual secret to becoming a mod is that you have to be a total ass. You seem too nice.

Only the Adminator Taochan can make people mods. Let tell you, after she stole our site owner’s five favorite wives, she’s been lost in the sands. Also I hear you can sometimes hear her cry about Aqua at night in the distance. Idk. These are just rumors, though.

I heard there's a ritual involving spam, three sheep, and deeds that would be better left in dark basement dungeons of creepy shops in the middle of complexes in a lot of downtown cities.
