Thirdly, I'm now leaded to believe that Master Xehanort summons Kingdom Hearts within the "Crossroads". Maybe because of the relevance to the paths that lead off to what is 'light', 'dark', 'dawn' and 'dusk'?

I'm inferring this could be related to when we see Master Xehanort summon Kingdom Hearts near the "Crossroads" in Secret movie, Birth by Sleep? That the two are link via this idea?

Yes, we believe so. If it was summoned, then it was most likely was locked with a Keyblade by one of the Keyblade warriors, that or Master Xehanort had closed it.

I think VAt closed it, but doing so cost them.

I'm thinking maybe their mission was to find and stop whatever it was he was doing, which is get kh.
The question is what does he want it for?

He's powerful enough to make cliff's.
The only thing I can think he'd want it for is knowledge.

Actually, both Dawn and Dusk fall under Twilight... The middle road is twilight, not just dusk or dawn... We do not know what the path that takes us to Castle Oblivion is...
