Chain of Memories

Could someone explain to me how Chain of Memories is considered a "spin-off or side story"? Although it doesn't bear the name, CoM was the sequel to KH, therefore is part of the main story, and it is neither a side story or spin off in anyway.

No, it is the bridge between KH1 and KH2. It should be where it is.

And it had another story running simultaneously with it (Days). A full-fledged main game would probably occupy its own timeframe.

COM was indeed a Side story.

It had very little affect on the overall plot of Kingdom Hearts and was not necessary to Play Kingdom Hearts 2.

COM is not the Sequel to Kingdom hearts, If it were it would have been called KH2 and KH2 would have been called KH3.
