He was influenced by Walt anyway. In the particular Fantasia sequence towards the end as he raises his eyebrow at Mickey(making him nervous) is a nod to how Walt raised his eyebrow when he got angry.

let me explain this to you, take how long ago the movie fantasia was released, subract that amount of time by 2 months, and thats about when people found out about yen sid's name
