Will Kingdom Hearts ever be referenced outside the series?

Every new Disney movie I always expect someone to ask "I wonder how that spiky haired boy with the oversized key is doing"? :frown:

Like would it be so hard to even ONCE just give the KH fans a little wink by showing remains of heartless occupation by having the characters in the movie say stuff like, "I sure am thankful for that Knight Dog, Wizard Duck, and Keyboy helping me save my world" even as background dialogue? Sometimes I swear Disney intently keeps out any chance of a possible KH reference to be made.

Pretty sure KH has a different Disney canon than the movies. Best I'd expect is a small reference to it for the lulz.

I can't think of any other movie they could reference and have it make sense.

Especially if Kingdom Hearts III is coming out in 2018, I can definitely see a Kingdom Hearts nod in Ralph Breaks The Internet.

Honestly, I thought they would make a nod in Wreck-It Ralph, seeing how Disney owns series, but alas.

Maybe if KH had a larger following it would have had more pop culture references. But it's still a pretty niche franchise so a lack of refrences is hardly surprising.

Probably not. Disney's got games that are bigger than KH, and those likely won't be referenced either. If it didn't happen in the movie that was about video games, I don't find it likely to happen in a future movie.
