this title may sound weird at first, but why are the guardians key blade wielders and not the seekers of dark nesses! Not all of the seekers use a keyblade, and ansem can't because he is a heartless, it is suppose to be a keyblade war, but not all of them use keyblades though. Does this make sense? are they going to be given a keyblade, when a piece of the X blade is in them, are they going to be able to summon a keyblade? and how exactly is the 7 13 suppose to work how are they going to find the pieces? or is it just going to conjure it because it isn't half anymore, because I thought the pieces were lost in other worlds and would needed to be founded by sora and the gang. and in dream drop distance, when sora tells xigbar that his friends are his power, everyone is there, except for namine. but xion is there, is that because he sees namine turn into xion that one scene he is running at her???

The keyblade war is a clash between light and darkness. When these 2 powers fight the chi blade will be conjured. So it's not necessary for them to have keyblades. We also know that master xehanort placed pieces of his heart into the 12 other darkness, so maybe that makes them able to use a keyblade but as said before its about the clash of light and darkness so having to wield a keyblade doesn't seem te be necessary to form the chi blade. I hope that cleared it up... it's quite hard to explain

That's true! Only Mickey assumed that the guardians had to be Keyblade wielders, but the final line up won't be known until it happens and Nomura's already hinting that it won't be what it seems.

Personally, I feel like Donald and Goofy are going to be guardians, but who knows.

Seeing as the Princesses of Heart were Geezernort's go-to plan for gathering lights, it was never stated at any point that the seven lights had to be wielders. It's more likely that wielders (due to the great power that a Keyblade grants) would probably have the best chance of going up against whatever Geezernort might have in store and make it out alive.

The second Keyblade War isn't the battle between 7 vs 13, it's what happens after.
Xehanort's belief is that by creating the X-Blade and bringing about Kingdom Hearts that it will lead all of the Keyblade Wielders who are scattered throughout the cosmos to come together to fight for it. That fight, after the X-Blade is forged, is meant to be the second Keyblade War.

Thus it's not necessary for the 7 and 13 to all be Keyblade wielders.

I think audo summarised it the best. To conjure the chi blade and kingdom hearts 7 lights and 13 darkness have to clash. After that it's said that keyblade welders from every world will be attracted to that place and fight over it. That is MX true desire, to see what is beyond the keyblade war

Xehanort wants to start another Keyblade War, he wants to reforge the X-Blade. And it just so happens, that his main plan is to reveal Kingdom Hearts so other Keyblade Wielders flock over to that area. And its hinted that its going to take place in the Keyblade Graveyard, but the final battle with Sora and Xehanort might take place inside Kingdom Hearts itself. Anyway, Xehanort's true goals are that of using Kingdom Hearts to gain his wishes and ideals. (Which won't end well, for anyone living...maybe?)

Somewhere, surely procrastinating
Easy answer: Nomura has a huge keyblade fetish and apparently forgot Donald and Goofy even exist in this universe. If they were more grounded in reality, Sora, Riku, Kairi, Donald, Goofy, Mickey, and Aqua would be completely fine for the guardians. Practically any combination would be fine. But Mickey seems to have a drive to make everyone that wields a keyblade a guardian, and if that's how Nomura wants it, it looks like that's what we're gonna get.

As for Xehanort, at least he thought that side through. They at least have options.
