Did he ever say in interviews why exactly the Shibuya cast shows up in 3D? If I'm not mistaken Nomura mentioned before that Quadratum is not the Shibuya from TWEWY, but it'd be really frustrating for the characters not to show up especially after they promise to meet Sora again in Shibuya.
I personally think we’ll run into the TWEWY squad again in KH4. If not, then at least mentioned or referenced in some capacity.

I say this with moderate confidence because I’m playing DDD again and just finished Traverse Town and Joshua says the following, which I found particularly interesting:

"In their world, something happened that brought their existence to an end. To keep them from fading altogether, I gathered up the very last remnants of their dreams and looked for a place to give them refuge. It was then this world appeared to answer my call, and Rhyme's dreams allowed us to reach it."

"Here, I thought they might have a chance—that the pieces of their dreams could make them whole again. Imagine my surprise when I realized dreams take bodily form in this world. It struck me—by linking their dream pieces back together, maybe I could make them exist again. Maybe I could give them another chance."

"Well, why can't it? By ourselves, we're no one. It's when other people look at us and see someone—that's the moment we each start to exist. All they needed was someone to see them, connect with them. And the two of you were a big part of making it happen."

To me, what he’s describing here bears a lot of parallels between Sora’s reality erasure, ceasing to exist, staying refuge in a special location to cease disappearing for good (Sora’s forced placement in Unreality), being shattered into various pieces and having to be put back together again (Final World, KH3).

And much like Time Travel in the series, I suspect that for Sora to return to his reality he’ll need someone from his reality to remember him or see him. I assume that role will belong to Riku - as he’s already on his way there by the end of KH3.

All massive speculation but the parallels make too much sense and fit together almost perfectly. Same Shibuya or not, it would be a massively missed opportunity for the TWEWY squad to not greet Sora in KH4.

I'm warning you all right now, because I've had it about as much as I can take it, that Audrey is infamous of getting her translations just wrong enough to be a pain in the neck in terms of tackling misinformation.

You should scrutinize any fan translation, regardless, but keep copious pinches of salt nearby when reading anything that has come from her.
Damn, really? I was under the impression she natively spoke Japanese. Never seen her under fire for getting translations wrong either but thanks for the heads up regardless.

I like your idea! The themes of recompletion and second chances really do fit like a glove. Though the last thing about beeing seen is probably not meant literally. Sora's friends all remember him and have connected with him prior to his disappearence.

All of the TWEWY characters were outcasts of some kind, and so their experience and growth in the UG made them learn more about themselves and be able to open up for new connections. I'm reaching a bit, but my interpretation is that in 3D's scenario, they already have ties to each other so Sora and Riku are the ones who serve as their way to learn to trust and connect to others outside their inner circle, meaning if the parallels you pointed out are somewhat accurate to the themes or plot of KH4, then Sora would need to connect with and befriend the people of Unreality and have them recognize his virtues to be able to exist again.

Massive speculation, of course. I find it enjoyable!

I remember when someone asked about NEO or SoP showin' up but they phrased it badly so the question Nomura answered was along the lines of the actual worlds of the games crossing over rather than just characters altered for KH.

The funniest thing about the KH4 drought is the rampant speculation. From that initial trailer, this seems to be the kookiest premise and setting for a KH game yet, the most out-there from the rest of the series. Will the TWEWY cast appear? Will Sora only go to live action worlds? This trailer was really serious, maybe Sora won't be so upbeat in this game!

To be honest, while I think KH4 will be the most 'different' KH title yet, you may be shocked when you play it and realize it's still 60% regular old Kingdom Hearts. The secret endings of the past have always made the next title seem like it was going to be so fucking crazy and dark and epic, only for the Disney curtain to be pulled back and reveal Huey Dewey and Louie screaming "QUACKAROONIE" loud enough for your dad to hear. But I am hoping they'll at least keep this illusion up for most of the marketing. The dichotomy between Disney fun and spooky Quadratum is very important to sell us on Sora's predicament.

The Disney silliness is definitely part for the course. We need more Vanitas being chucked through 10 layers of doors mid-monologue and less characters saying each other's names followed by awkward pauses.

As long as KH continues being a Disney series, it'll always be goofy with a sprinkle (but just a sprinkle) of serious undertones/circumstances. The mainline FF games are right there if people want heavy doldrum tones or melancholy.

The melancholy tone of KH combined with the utter wackiness of having Donald tell you that the ship's fuel is smiles has always been my favourite element of the series.

Hopefully we don't have to wait this long for Missing Link
For additional context, Rainbow Six Mobile was announced in April 2022.

Here's something interesting: Disney announced "World" pins that seem to be inspired by Kingdom Hearts. They'll be available at D23 next month - including Coco and Zootopia ones 👀

Each set is priced at a fat $75.

Is there a source that these are official by Disney?

I'm actually having trouble finding one but that's probably because they're not going to be sold until August at the convention.

I should also note that pin-trading sites have their product numbers and credit the makers as Disney Imagineers, so, I believe they're official.

Never heard anyone say that. Maybe he misunderstood people say it in a cool way "Nomura is sick (slang)" and he thought they meant he's really sick (disease)
I kinda think he's just told made-up rumors about him now cuz both this and the Papa Nomura thing are just not things that people said at all. I've seen the opposite actually. Aka people callin him a hack and hoping he gets fired.

I believe the health concern thing came about when he appeared in the video message ahead of Advent Children. There were some people commenting on his appearance and health at the time.

Back on topic, before D23 2015, they announced KH3 would be there on 7/13. (For those who were wondering if anything was ever announced on 7/13, here’s your example. Lol.) There’s still time for them to tease something. But if they don’t tease anything ahead of time like they did both in 2015 and 2017, I doubt anything new will be there.

At this point, I’m leaning toward an early 2026 release with marketing starting around April-June next year. If it were coming out in 2025, I don’t think they’d skip D23.

And there were also many people who made such comments, only because the lighting was bad 🙄
There are people here who commented exactly that.

I don't get those who expected, or expect, the KH4 re-reveal at the D23.

In my opinion, the only chance it had to be there was if it was re-revealed before. D23 is not a big event with enough viewers to start the marketing campaign.

For me, what is reasonable to expect is Missing Link, because in this case there is no better event to promote the game. And the timing is perfect if it ends up coming out this year.

Makes sense, but maybe Disney is looking for a big win for their games this year? What better way to generate hype than KH4

I just don't think we're gonna get anything, unfortunately :( I hope I'm wrong, but Square hasn't given me any hope that they would promote it ...
