What is AP?

I have 71 AP on Sora, I keep getting AP boosts everywhere..But what is it? what is it used for?

It stands for Ability points. The more you have, the more abilities you can equip, like combo plus, explosion, MP rage, and more. In the first game, there weren't enough and barely any AP for Sora, I had only 17 when I beat the game, so they went over the top with the abilities and included several dozens of AP boosts for the second one.

when i beat the game i had like 48+

When I beat KH1, I had 17 AP. I picked an opening combination of the sword/sheild/staff that gave out the lowest AP.
