Vanitas and Dark Riku's Outfit

I don't want any spoilers. I just want to know if there's a reason Riku and Vanitas rock an almost identical outfit. No need to tell me why cause I'm avoiding spoilers, just tell me if there is a reason or not.

Actually, there is a reason, but it does involve spoilers unfortunately. Master Xehanort created Vanitas from Ven's heart, and he was born wearing that suit. 10 years later after Master Xehanort and Terra became Xehanort, Xehanort's Heartless possessed Riku giving him an identical suit. It's possibly just a suit that Xehanort is fond of. If you notice, both Vanitas and Riku hold their weapons the same, that could also be from Xehanort's influence.

He had it for the first Hollow Bastion fight, which was before he was possessed by Xehanort's Heartless.

Also, he wielded his weapon like that before he even met XH.

Before that he simply just had a lot of darkness in his heart.

it's true, it was scene when sora fought riku in hollow bastion. anyways, remember the line of riku when he said "become darkness itself", maybe that was the reason why, his body was slowly turning to darkness.

Well Xehanort could still be the explanation, because he was influenced by him anyway. So maybe his influence was the reason for the dark suit.

Riku isn't possesed by XH until after the first Hollow Bastion fight, XH literally walks up to him, and Riku, being distressed by his loss to Sora and loss of the Keyblade's control, allows XH to possess him seeking power. There is no connection between the suits other than the fact that they both are worn by people who weild pure darkness.

The OP asked the question under the assumption that the answer is within Birth by Sleep, in which case, it's not. So, until known otherwise, there's no connection between their dark suits. What you said is plausible, but nothing more than speculation.
