the poeticity is reflected in Yen Sid's book at the beginning of the game, but it DID provide a bit of an outline to the game's story if you go read it over.
And also in KH1 toward the end in this place i cannot remember the name of...where you go to each pink teleporter thing that take you to all the different worlds, there is a mystery place and a giant orb with a bunch of machinery and black orbs about it. There is text in front of it that is extremely poetic and i don't remember a word of it but i don't think it revealed any story, just blabber about darkness and light and blah blah blah...
But yes, i think the poeticity is just for emphasis as Dual-Roxas has stated.
