Quite possibly. But it's also interesting that it and The Castle That Never Was has virtually the same internal design... Unless Org XIII just liked the wallpaper so much they copied it for their new home.

Well Riku was an in between being so maybe MX was as well.

I'm trying to think of ideas here.

Some ideas for now:

TAV's master who lived in the world of in between like Yen Sid sent them to find MX.

During the course of the game their master's castle somehow got turned into Castle Oblvion and was used for experiements.

Their master was somehow was defeated and locked away.

Master Xehanort had somehow passed the boundaries of light and darkness sort of like Riku and tried to take this new kingdom Hearts for something.

He somehow had made his apprentice apart of himself while away.

Something happened which led to TAV and MX's dissapearance.

It probably has something to do with a spoiler in Days. I've seen you in the spoiler section, figure it out.
There are a couple other pictures here that indicate something toward that spoiler as well.

I can see how Audo could slide around the spoiler by applying only the concept (and not mentioning the particular instance where it applies to Days) but...
