I've been wondering this for awhile, and it's probably been answered within the game or on some thread here, but why exactly did DIZ need Roxas to "merge" with Sora? From the end of KHI and throughout CoM Sora's memories were intact eventhough Namine fabricated some memories. So any feedback would appreciated.

Sora was asleep the whole time,so DiZ wanted Roxas to merge with him so that Sora can wake up once more and take revenge(unknowingly) against the Organization (his former apprentices) for him.It was all part of his plan

yep she is right. diz needed roxas for his plan to work.
diz wanted sora to awake, and so he putted roxas back in him. just like bluesky-x said. diz wanted revenge on xemnas and used the keyblade wielder for that. but he blew up himself XD (not very smart...)
Also because Roxas might have tried to stop Sora if he had not abducted him.
Diz: Come with me little boy
Roxas: No! Xemnas told me not to talk to strangers.
Diz: Umm... I have candy.
Roxas: Where's the van?

obviously not, cuz sora had no abilities, was back to low levels and had lost all his keyblades lol

if sora was only at half power, and he still beat some of the organization members, what does that say for the members? like marluxia, does that mean he really sucks?

If DiZ wanted Roxas to merge with Sora, why put him in a data Twilight Town? And why did he want to ger rid of Namine in the manga?
