Do you mean storywise? If so then, you're wrong. Sorry to disappoint you. However, I wouldn't be surprised if the rumors revolved around either:
A) The fact that Spectrobes is being made by the same companies as Chain of Memories.
B) A video trailer or interview concerning Spectrobes packed into the Chain of Memories PS2 disc.

the only reason that i can think of that these two can be connected in any way is because of Buena Vista Games.

Actully it's been said that after you complete certian missions in Spectrobes, it will give you a code, that will then be used in RE: COM to unlock certian doors.

Thus, making you buy it for the codes.
