Pokemon HG/SS question

Hey. I was just wondering if I should get Pokemon HG/SS. I played RBY when I was young and loved it. But the thing is, I have never played the original G, S, or C. Should I play one of the original ones first, then the remake? Or should I just go ahead and get HG or SS and play that as my first time?

Well, some call the Gold-Silver-Cystal games the best in the series. In other words, before the new pokemon became a little silly and there were TOO MANY.

Personally, I enjoy my HeartGold game. I actually have flashes of nostalgia now and again.

Well SS/HG have the same story as S/G/C plus lots more bonus stuff and pokemon so I think it would be fine to just play SS/HG.
