Kairi/Vanitas is my OTP. I love the dichotomy. It could be very Shadow & Bone if done right. But better because I hate how Shadow & Bone handled the Sun Summoner and Darkling relationship overall…

Vanitas/Kairi isn't a pairing I didn't think much of, but the potential they could have as Dark vs Light reflects much of what Sora and Vanitas are as "Brothers" but in a romantic sense. Sadly this crack pairing has more potential than Sora/Kairi has in canon imo :(

It’s also just so much more dynamic and interesting lol

Kairi having an antagonistic relationship with Vanitas over his callousness and also being a being of pure darkness contrasted to her being of pure light. The slow realization that even with their differences, they are both similar in having been housed in somebody’s heart, being a tool of Xehanort…And then there would be tension and palpable energy in their interactions.

I saw a comic where Vanitas tells Kairi that having a heart of pure darkness is painful and he sees her as the closest thing he has to a light. Plus the idea of Vanitas secretly simping for someone who he’s supposed to hate would be both hilarious and interesting

People say Nomura debunked Rikunami, but I don't agree. I feel like he just said that because Square Enix wants the Soriku fans to continue investing in the series and give them money. There is nothing wrong with shipping Soriku, but, let's be honest, it is not going to happen in a shonen series like KH.

I still think Rikunami has a big chance of happening, like Sokai, Rokushi, and Terraqua; they are all pretty straightforward, convenient, and underdeveloped. LOL

With KH becoming a full shonen anime, I can already see the time skip at the end of the story, just like DBZ, Naruto, and Bleach, which show all characters are married and have kids.

I agree that Soriku ain’t happening canonically speaking but I wouldn’t say Kingdom Hearts is becoming any more similar to Shonen Anime than any other story about a plucky teenage hero

RikuNami is the ONLY ship that Nomura has gone out of his way to say "Whoops, that's not how we intended that scene to be interpreted," and you think that that was just a way to keep the bait out for SoRiku fans? In spite of the fact that they're not exactly cagey about SoKai?

RokuNami was included in a sequence of Disney couples in the 2.8 credits so if those characters are going to be involved in any romance it's pretty clear what the "canon" couple is going to be.

For a post that says it's okay to ship non-canon couples you're bizarrely reluctant to admit that your preferred ships might not be canon.

Please no timeskip babies, I don't want a mediocre next generation story. And can Roxas, Namine, and Xion even have kids? The reproductive system is pretty complicated and surprisingly fragile, so I doubt Vexen prioritized it when designing the replicas.

I would believe that they are able to reproduce, comsidering the prefect replicas are said to be indistinguishable from non-replicas.
Alternatively the characters could create replica kids using both of their data or simply adopt. Though they are all still a decade too young to worry about that.

I know about the 2.8 credits, but to me, it feels like Nomura just doesn't care for that anymore, like in KH3, Roxas and Namine don't even interact, and Riku and Namine are not one of my preferred ships. The only ship I really care for is Sokai, and a little of Soriku too, because I am Bi and can't hold myself. I just think it made sense for them to be together. Call me delusional if you want.

And sorry if it sounds like I was rude or trying to impose my opinion on others.

I think the babies could be interesting, at least a Sokai one; the others are not really necessary, but I won't be surprised if they happen.

Define “cagey”? Like are you suggesting that Nomura is leaving Kairi out of the adventures so that she can’t interact with Sora?
No? How the hell did you come up with that interpretation?
cag·ey
/ˈkājē/
adjective INFORMAL
reluctant to give information owing to caution or suspicion.
"manufacturers are cagey about the recipes they use to create a wine"
Square Enix has shown no reluctance in portraying Sora and Kairi as the lead couple of Kingdom Hearts. It's been that way since KH1, but ReMind was especially clear on this topic. That doesn't mean it's the best ship, or that you have to embrace it. But SE has never portrayed the topic as "Who will Sora end up with? It is a mystery."

Namine and Roxas didn't interact in KH3 because Namine barely interacts with anyone in KH3. They decided to put off bringing her back until the very end, resulting in no developed relationships for her.

Ok then. I thought you were implying Nomura might have a bias against Sokai

I don't think Nomura like or dislike Sokai. It feels like he just doesn't care about the romance between them, unfortunately. It's like Nomura just creates the romance between them because it's an epic story and it is expected for the main character to fall in love with someone. Which sucks because I feel Sokai fans deserve better; even Soriku fans deserve better than this shallow romance we are getting in the games. That's why I don't blame Soriku fans for wanting a better romance for Sora. But even with all the flaws Sokai has, I can't stop loving them; they're so cute together.

You know there might be a reason most of the possible ships haven't fully sailed yet:

Their age.

There are a lot of writers who find the idea of hooking up teenagers to be uncomfortable or not something they can write well. This is why a lot of shonen series tends to avoid romance with the couple until the end and then time skips to their adult years. Nomura especially is most used to writing older teenagers/young adults. Even Tidus and Squall were seventeen in their games. Sora is now sixteen which means Nomura might find him closer to a more "appropriate" age for romance.
