Kingdom Hearts: The Three Doors will be a series of fanfics that takes place after the events in Reborn from the Darkness that will lead into this fanfic. The events in this series of fanfics are set to happen after Sora's scenario in Reborn from the Darkness is complete. However, I am writing this ALONGSIDE the rest of my first fanfic, but will be doing it in as much of a spoiler-free way as I can; the events in this fanfic, thankfully, do not tie in much with Reborn from the Darkness until towards the end, but instead are geared toward introducing a brand new villain, character development for Sora, and several new plot twists involving Kairi. Mysterious Figure will also make an appearance in this fanfic, and the new villain is NOT Xehanort.
Speaking of which, I am still in the process of re-writing what I have written so far for Reborn from the Darkness. I plan to extend the prologue a bit to give more context for some of the things that happen on Destiny Island before it begins (Such as conversations between Sora, Riku, and Kairi), along with editing much of the dialogue to give it what I think will be a better quality (More emotion, more description, etc). However, while I am completing that, I am also working on this fanfic.
Please read, then review and/or critique, if you have the desire and time to do so. I am open to any constructive criticism, whether it's a good or bad review! With that said, I now give you:
--PROLOGUE--
Sora's eyes opened as he saw himself on a stained-glass platform. As he briefly surveyed his surroundings, he noticed that the pattern was unlike anything he'd ever seen. There was a split-painting of Destiny Islands and Radiant Garden. Along the edge of the half that depicted Destiny Islands, there were normal blue eyes, but they alternated between looking like the eyes of Sora and Kairi. The rest of the border was filled with yellowish-amber eyes, all the same but having the look of Kairi's eyes. There were also portraits of himself, Kairi, and Riku altogether in one circular mini-painting instead of separately like in many of the murals he saw before of this type, smiling cheerfully.
Standing tall in the center of it was a woman who looked as if she was his age. She had light brown hair that was spiky on top, much like his, but her hair in back was medium length, going straight down to her shoulders, like Kairi's. Her right eye was blue in color, just like his, but her other eye was a yellowish-amber. Both eyes had a reddish-purple eyeshadow on the lids.. If Sora didn't know any better, just by looking at her head he thought that it was Kairi with a new hairstyle. But yet somehow… it also looked like himself! Just who was this person?
She also wore a dress that looked very much like one that Sora purchased for Kairi as a birthday present about a few days before they both left on their respective journeys. He had given it to his mother to keep a surprise, because the party would be held at his residence. Sadly, he wouldn't be able to attend, and he never expected that Kairi would be leaving the islands. But on the journey he recently remembered going on (except for the most recent event of it), she had indeed gone on her own adventure to find Sora, assisting him and Aqua in saving the worlds.
The dress he purchased for Kairi, and worn by the young woman in the stained-glass portrait who oddly reminded Sora of himself and Kairi, was a short kimono-style that featured padded shoulders, and around the middle was a large sash. The entire dress was lavender-colored, with the sash and shoulders being slightly darker than the rest of the outfit, and there were faint outlines of Paopu-fruits around the skirt, sash, and sleeves.
This young woman also had a Keyblade that was of a design Sora had never seen before. Its handle was shaped like a three-fingered claw of a Shadow Heartless, but with a bandaged middle-finger acting as the handle, and the other fingers bending to act as the guard. The rest of her Keyblade was similar to that of his Ultima Weapon, but instead of a typical pointed sword forming the base of the blade, it was a silver-colored version of Riku's Souleater. That weapon's light-blue eye was also on the "palm" of the claw that formed the handle.
The Keyblade she wielded also had the same trademark filigree of Ultima Weapon, but it was dark-gray in color and formed a zig-zag shape that made both sides look like jagged hacksaws. For teeth, instead of a crown there were three separated claw-fingers just like the one on the handle. They were similar to the teeth of Rumbling Rose, but their base was silver and they extended further to form gnarled black claws that were much more jagged and vicious in appearance. Just the very shape of it struck fear into Sora's being, and it was perhaps one of the deadliest-looking Keyblades he had ever seen…
Your very existence in the Realm of Light is now in jeopardy… a voice had said. It was the same one Sora was familiar with in his Awakenings.
"Wait, what do you mean…?!" Sora asked, curious about what was going on. Come to think of it, he didn't even remember how he got here! He had come back to Destiny Islands when he received a distress call on his Gummi Ship's radar, but everything after that was blank…
You have left something behind that was important to you. Now, delve into the past... How you arrived here, how you will continue… It will be revealed to you upon reaching the end of each path. Though I will guide you to the beginning of each, you must find the end of them yourself…
Three doors suddenly appeared in front of Sora. The one on the left was shrouded in light, the left door had darkness pouring out of it, and the third one… had pale, glowing, purplish mist emanating from the cracks and around the door itself in random patterns. Sora had never seen such energy before, but it gave off a vibe that felt like minor jolts of energy in all directions.
These three doors hold a secret to the past of each one involved. At the end of your journey through them, you will find an answer for yourself.
"How I got here… will be revealed after I find out what's up with these doors…" Sora thought to himself.
He had to enter all of them, and the one with the glowing mist he was most unsure about. Sora had seen what darkness and light held, for he has had encountered enemies which wielded one or both types. However, he was also somewhat curious about this new element…
Sora guessed that the door shrouded in light would somehow relate to him, and the one shrouded in darkness would be Riku's. But who could POSSIBLY have a door like the one with the energy he had never seen before?
That door only displays the energy you see coming out of it… The door itself is not of that element, nor is anything else in all the realms as of yet. Enter it first if you dare, but you must enter that door sooner or later if you are to continue.
Sora decided to enter it, just to get these feelings out of the way, and braced himself for what might be behind this ominous door…
