Now before you take up arms to defend your precious title, know that I am also a proud KH lover. But what they did to this glorious series is just gross and appalling!
Some of you may have never herd of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (FFCC). To sum up what its about: It is the BEST game SE has ever made. Note that I'm referring to the original game for the GameCube. NOT the bull crap they released for the DS and Wii.
Now what am I getting at?
KH and FFCC are both games that are reffered to as "side" franchises to that of the original Final Fantasy games. But obviously one gets far more attention than the other. As a matter of fact, I think it's safe to say that KH has evolved into a full blown monstrosity of it's own.
Now I understand that certain things are hit or miss. Most would just speculate that it was just luck the way KH was put ahead of FFCC. But I'm here to shed light on what REALLY happened between the two series.
It might not seem that either games have anything in common (aside from the standard FF elements of game play). And for a while this was true.
KH1 was released in 2002. All good. It was the story of a boy helping out Disney characters in a tangled mess of a quest that should have been concluded before even more loop holes could be created.
In late 2003 early 2004 FFCC hit the shelves. Adventurers embarked in an epic quest to not only protect their homeland from an evil force called "The Miasma" but also destroy the evil monster that was behind everything. To further aid you on your journey, you could collect MEMORIES that would further develop the tale and aid you in the final battle.
Well there are your two games. From there KH went off to become one of the greatest titles SE had ever created. While FFCC went on to become a retarded child's game.
But something doesn't seem right... Let us venture a bit further down the time line:
Late 2004 brought us the second installment of KH. Kingdom Hearts: Chain of MEMORIES. It continues the story of the boy who is in search for his friends. Inside the castle a girl named Namine tampers with his MEMORIES while he is in search of the Dark Cloaked figure which led him to the castle, and also his friend Kairi. The battle system is also unique in the sense that player now plays with cards. After the events in CoM it will be important for him to REMEMBER what has happened in the castle when he encounters Master Xehanort, the main antagonist of the game.
So what is my point in all of this? Kingdom Hearts RIPPED OFF the whole plot of Crystal Chronicles in order to advance its own story!!! This obviously explains why FFCC never really had any story development after its initial installment because KH had already stolen it.
And I know that really there is no damage done, since SE created both of the series. But to shoot down one just to advance another is terrible and I will hold an eternal grudge against them forever.
tl;dr: Square Enix doesn't care about their own series anymore, only the money in your wallets. This explains why all their new games like FF14 and Days are complete $h!+
