Caution: This post is very long.
Okay I'm not really new to these forums but a common theme that I see in here is the KH2 hate. Now I can't totally disagree because there are some problems that I have with KH2 but there is one thing that I thought that the sequel had that was much better than the original. And that is..... [Drum roll for added effect]....... The Final Boss(es)!!!!
Yeah I know some of you are thinking "What?! Xemnas sucked in KH2" but hear me out. Let me start out by discussing what I didn't like about the final boss in KH1. First, there was really no variety. First, you battle Ansem SoD on DI as he floats in the air which is pretty cool but the thing I don't like about that are his attacks. He really only has two or three basic attacks. Those being ones where he just attacks you and there’s the part where he yells "submit!!" and the guardian lashes out and disappears and then Ansem turns into a large orb and attacks you. It just gets annoying. Then after beating him DI is basically destroyed and opens up and you battle..... Darkside, (again for the third time). That’s just a little too repetitive for me.
Now I could break down every battle but I can tell I'm rambling but I want to get to what really bugged me. And that is the difficulty. Yes overall Kh1 is waaay harder than KH2 but during the final bosses it is too easy. I mean if you have enough hp and use aeroga you can get hit multiple times without it doing much damage and then you just use cure when it gets too low. Ansem's attacks just really aren't that effective and it really doesn't require much strategy.
Now this is what I really liked about KH2 and its Final Boss. The battles were much more diverse. [Except for the two battles Xemnas is in that chair that gets a little annoying]. But even those two battles are cool because it brings everything together. If you look around Xemnas, the weapons of all the org XIII are somewhere. Xaldin's lances, Axels chalcrams (Spelling?), basically everything except Roxas' keyblades and Xemnas even uses those as attacks. He uses a ton more than Ansem did in KH1. Finally, the difficulty (which was way too easy for the better part of the whole game) was great for the Final Bosses, especially Xemnas' Final Form. That battle actually required strategy, I mean yeah for a while you can just mash X but after awhile Xemnas starts shooting those lasers at you and you have to avoid those but then you always have to be aware for when Xemnas does that thing where he takes Sora and you have to play as riku as Sora's hp is drained. If you don't have full hp then Sora can die very quickly but also if riku dies you have to start over as well so you have to make sure that both have full hp before that. It’s the same with Xemnas' desperation attack, the one where the screen turns black and he starts shooting hundreds of lasers at you. I can’t remember how many times I died during that battle.
So this is my opinion but I want to know what you think about this so please discuss, tell me if you agree, disagree, or just want to complain about how long this was.
BTW I'm sorry I didn't realize this was going to be so long so I thank you if you actually read all of this.
