~Foolish Game~​

These dreams… these nightmares haunt us and we know they aren’t real but they still stalk us in the night.

They make us scream, hallucinate and above all they place fear into our hearts.​

It is a never-ending battle in our minds that no one can aide us with or even rescue us from.​

In this world where our nightmares rule, we must find our relief… our savior. Unfortunately there are none.

Biotech, one the most technological advance business in the world has created a loop hole into another dimension. This project allows the imagination to run wild, including mystical beast and even the creatures of your nightmares. Genesis or the “New World” as the scientist like to call it has been programmed to expand as new dreams enter the database. Each employee of Biotech has had a part in creating this world by allowing their dreams to be put in the database. Even though this world seems to be a wonderland… There is one problem. There have only been two things that have been sent to this world, a robot and an ape. The robot ended up being crushed by a large creature and the ape disappeared within two days of the experiment.

As these experiments failed, the leaders began to think of a way they could improve their “New World” and the only way possible is by sending the most advance creature in the real world, humans. They thought about how to get volunteers without the company suffering. The employees knew too much information about the project; therefore they would not be willing to enter into Genesis so they need fresh meat. People who were still smart enough to survive harsh environments and also humans that had a broad imagination. A group that wanted something from life and needed someone’s help to do so. The best people for this job would be college students.. .young, athletic, naïve and definitely in search for who they are.

This was the point of desperation that Biotech reached and they sent out ten letters to ten students from a college around the United States. They were carefully chosen by their marital status (single), family members (none), grades (high GPA), activities they were involved in (specialties) and their strengths and weaknesses. It took months, years for that matter to find these ten students. They were being watch, followed ever since they were in the 9th grade so they knew their boiling points...their faults… their lives. The students could accept or deny the request but that means they would give up a scholarship that would pay for all schooling including ten thousand dollars for spending of their choice. Who would give up this chance? They are clueless of the experiment they would be involved in and the danger that comes along with it. It is your choice, the lucky student who was chosen… whether to accept or deny.

Creature from nightmare: He rides in the darkness, thirsty for the blood of anybody and anything. The streets are stained by the puddles of the crimson liquid as he rides up to her on the back of his horse. He jumps down from his steed and walks up to her. His yellow eyes pierce through her soul and she is frozen in her stance. He picks her up off the ground by her polo and brings her close to his face so that she can see her death in his eyes. She ends up waking with a burning pain in her heart. He frightens her even in her real life and she is always scared he is going to appear in her house one night just to kill the people around her.

Activities involved in: In school, Gabriella isn’t involved in many things except for volunteering at the library just to escape from the loneliness at home. As for out of school activities, she likes to shop at bookstores and sightsee around the town even though she has lived there most of her life. The only athletic activity she does is swim. She recently made the swim team so she spends some of her time in the pool. Her true strength would have to be her intelligence.

Bio: Gabriella was shipped around the world until she turned nine and then her parents built her a huge mansion on the outskirts of the city she resides in now. Her parents were never a very big part of her life since their business was too important to have any interruptions that would include the birth of their only child. During her younger years, she witnessed many life changing experiences such as watching a Mayan elder make her family’s dinner or being taught how to dress as a geisha from a Japanese lady. Her life has been spent studying any subject that sparks her interest. After reaching the age of nine, she decided that she wanted a steady life so her parents continued with their business and she lives with butlers and maids.

Being accepted into her university was the most successful thing she had accomplished and yet her parents showed no interest. As her first year came to an end, she found herself spending much of her time hidden in the stacks of her library and studied anything there. She had notebooks full of notes she has taken and in her house, she built a two story library where she keeps her books. Living by herself, she has learned to be independent and take care of herself. The one last goal she has is to completely cut off her parents so that they have nothing to do with her which includes financially.

Her social life might as well not exist since she only has a few school friends and then the rest are the people who work for her. As for her love life, she has had her eye on one guy for at least a year now and yet he doesn’t even know she is alive. She remembers the day, she was reading “Pride and Prejudice” and she was standing on a curb, waiting for the cars to pass. She glanced up over her scarf and thought that the coast was clear until she was jerked back by some guy. She felt the gush of wind come from the speeding car and yet she was safe. She looked over to see this dark haired man with glasses holding onto her arm. He just nodded and then walked away. Ever since that day, he has always stuck out in her mind and she sees him on campus more and more each week. But once again, he doesn’t even know she exists.

When she received the letter from Biotech, she just tossed it in the trash and didn’t even take a second glance at it until a few days later. She realized this could be her chance to start her own life and not have to feed off of her parents. She had swum at least fifty laps in the pool until she came to a decision to accept their offer and go on with the experiment. She had a week to go before the beginning of this experiment and she was ready.. ready for her life to begin.

Activities involved in: Track and Field, Basketball, Piano, Football, and Journalism Staff while he's at school. In Devin's free time he likes to write stories and volunteer at the homeless shelter in his area. He enjoys reading and shooting hoops with the guys whenever he can.

Bio: Devin is a sophomore at USC (University of Southern California) and majoring in Journalism. He has wanted to be a journalist ever since he was little and jumped at the chance to go to this school when the scholarship was offered. Devin is from San Diego, California and he was raised by a single mother. He grew up poor and had no idea how he was going to pay for college. When Biotech sent him the letter he was overjoyed. And he agreed immediately. It was inevitable for him to get one for something. His grades were stellar and he always did a lot of community work. Not to mention the scouter's that came to his Football and Basketball games were impressed.

Devin's mom was just happy that he had decided to go to college and not follow the same path as his brother. Devin wanted to make his mom proud. He felt that she deserved that much so he wants to make sure he keeps his grades up. But Devin has always wanted his own life too. He wants his own story. He was always the one helping his mom and doing what he could to make her proud. He wanted a chance to be away from home for a while to experience more of the world around him. Even though he knows that in the end he will have to go back home and help his mom, because that's what a loving son would do.

Appearance: Devin is 6'0 tall and has dread locks. He has golden brown eyes and dark brown skin. Devin usually wears a white t-shirt and dark blue jeans. He also wears blue chucks. He has a black backpack that he wears to school and is usually seen carrying his laptop. Devin wears a gold watch on his left wrist. Sometimes he will wear a beanie to match his outfit. He will usually wear one of the school spirit ones to school events. Unless he's playing in the game.

Activities involved in: Soccer and Track are the only sport activity he is involved in. Jake has taken a lot of computer and drawing claasses.

Bio: Chris is a very open-minded person, probally do to all the books he has read. Chris father left when he was eight, and his mother fied from cancer when he was 16. Since his mother died Chris has been living in an apartment. He graduated from highschool a year early and has been looking for a colledge for about two years. He was excited when he got his letter and almost immediatly accepted it.

Creature from nightmare: This figure has appeared in Sakura's dreams many, many times. Although she knew that it was just a dream, she had a feeling that she would meet it someday. Whenever the figure appeared in her dreams, its red eyes would watch her as if it can see right through her and can hear everything that she is thinking about. Whenever Sakura sees this figure, she could feel a certain cold emotion coming off of it. This cold emotion makes her feel as if she was left behind in the world, giving her a feeling of loneliness. This figure has been lingering within her mind ever since it appeared in her dreams.

Activities involved in: At school, Sakura is a very well-rounded person who is involved in many of the school activities. She is the junior captain of the volleyball team. Also, she is the head of the dance class she holds after school for the students who are in the dance club. Sakura is also a part of an artistic club where she draws and come up with ideas with the other students to create a big project for school. Outside of school, she spends the time for herself, catching up on readings and doing things that relaxes her after long hours at school.

Bio: Sakura is currently a sophmore in college, double majoring in Film Production and Dance. Ever since she was a little girl, she loved watching movies and knew that she wanted to make them herself when she grew up. Even before she entered college, she studied different films and the different techniques that were involved within the movie. During her spare time, she would come up with ideas and write her own story, hoping to make it someday. Sometimes, she even wished that she was the main girl character in her stories. After studying the art of film for so long, she has gained a wide knowledge in that field. Through this, she has gained an advantage when she entered college. Sakura was accepted easily and was placed in the film program. When she entered college, her parents bought her a nice size house by the beach.

When she started attending the school, she visited the dance room often, practicing her routine daily. Then, she was offered to become the dance teacher at the school and to teach the students in the dance club how to dance. She enjoyed doing this and watching those who had the same passion as her dance along with her. After meeting new people in the school and through clubs, Sakura became more active around the campus and got more involved within the school.

Creature from nightmare: He exists as a shadow; he retraces, relives, recalls. Every step. Every movement. Every memory....to avoid him would be to avoid one's self. To defeat him would be to defeat one's self. Ergo, he is the unavoidable and undefeatable presence that plagues an otherwise capable Alexis. In appearance; a mere shadow that creeps amongst the bare, barren surfaces of her nightmares, but in the rare occasions he is confronted, he takes on certain physical forms, the human of which being as follows: (http://mythicmktg.fileburst.com/war/us/home/images/armiesofWAR/highelves/swr_05.jpg) Alexis tends to awaken in a peculiar state. She would feel empty. Drained. Somewhat devoid of emotion and in extreme cases, a walking enigma for several minutes after the fact.

Activities in school: Per her Mother's wishes, Alexis is an "avid" member of the A.S.D Support Group; a weekly gathering of students that suffer with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Asperger's Sydrome, ect. There is a surprisingly miniscule amount of members, yet it means little to those concerned. She is vexed by this, however, as these meetings clash with the swim group she has been desperate to join since arrival.

Bio: Alexis knows and has seen very little of her parents. Her Father particapates in various unlawful yet vague activites. He is wanted in all but three states: Nebraska, Atlanta, and Missouri. He has done his best to keep his only child unawares. Where her Mother is concerned: The less known of her the better. Since the diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome at age eight, they have not seen eye to eye about Alexis's mental and physical capability. Due to this, she has spent most of her life in boarding schools specifically for those of her condition. Alexis despises her Mother referring to her very existence as nothing more than a "condition". Yet she secretly agrees with her. No sooner had Alexis returned home from a said boarding school, did she find herself gaining...mysterious acceptence into a coveted university. She would later discover her Father had pulled some proverbial strings. Being of average intelligence albiet cunning beyond her years, she has managed better than expected in her time so far. She currently resides on campus.

After having had a trademark fall out with her Mother over the phone, coupled with storming out of the A.S.D Support Group after a heated discussion, she burst though the front door in tears. As mysteriously as higher education had come to her, an envelope slipped through the letter box. Though she does not believe in coinsidences, she spent the rest of the night pouring over its content. After much soul searching...her state of mind finally prompted her to accept. Alexis later recieved a phone call from one of her Father's lesser known accociates; her parents had been shot dead at 0:24 hours. Precisely 15 minutes before the letter was recieved.

Appearence: 5'11, slim, feminine build, with shoulder length black hair (wavy) and a single red streak across the fringe. Eyes are a metallic blue though often concealed by said fringe. Skin is fair, as she spends very little time outdoors. Commonly wears faded jeans, sweaters, basic introverted clothing.

Name: Kenneth “Ken” Stiles

Creature from nightmare: A strange dark presence that often manipulates the surroundings in Genesis as well as its own form, it feeds off of other living creatures by absorbing them into itself to obtain sustenance as well as grow stronger. Activities involved in: Currently in school Ken is not involved in any extracurricular activities or a particular member of any clubs, though he can be consider a charter member of a few as when he find time he often attends whatever meetings he can. Having a unique knack at excelling at whatever he put his mind to since a young age, Ken was pressured by his father to take part in a number of activities both for academic and leisurely purposes, as his father had dreams of making his son into a prodigy that besides being well educated, also excels in a wide variety of subjects or fields, more less intending to make his son into a modern day renaissance man.

Bio: Unknown to most people Ken is the only child of Lucian Dantez, who is widely recognized by most as one of the founding members of the Biotech cooperation. Though often called a brilliant scientist and an amazing politician who worked diligently to make Biotech what it is today, however to Ken his father could hardly be even consider a good man as he was the type that always put work before family. Having a major falling out with his father shortly after his mother’s supposed death in a car accident, or so it was stated by his father to be as such though Ken knows this not to be true, Ken was essentially forced to raise himself since before the age of ten. Eventually Ken was shipped off to a highly protégés boarding school to be taken care of after his father found it a nuisance to take time from his busy schedule to spend to with his son.

Now currently in his junior year of college Ken is still currently undecided on a major as he has managed to finish the core classes need to enter a number of majors as well as taken classes required for specific majors in Engineering, Pre-Law, and Pre-Medicine. Despite being the top of the junior class, giving him a number of scholarships to help pay for school Ken still finds himself working several odd jobs year long to help make ends meet, such as tutoring or working in the campus cafeteria at times. As three years prior towards the end of his senior year of high school Ken severed all ties with his father and the Dantez family name, after having a heated despite with his father about the future as well as the true reason behind the disappearance of his mother.

Recently receiving an envelope from Biotech, Ken’s initial response to it was to throw the stupid letter away without bothering to open it as he wanted nothing to do with his father or the company the man had help create. But a few days later after throwing out the first envelope Ken received another one which basically appeared to be exactly the same as the first and instead of throwing out he let it sit on his table to be forgotten about, though after a few days of his curiosity eating away at him to see what the letter inside said. Ken opened the envelope to read he was chosen to participate in a Biotech, irritated by the idea that his father would have part in the supposed experiment Ken wanted a to toss the letter aside, but instead decided he might as will participate to see what biotech was up to as well as hopefully use this opportunity as a chance to tell off his father.

Name: Alyss

Age: 19

Gender: female

Creature from nightmare: Many times, Alyss has woken screaming in the dark of night, her body trembling in fear. Her nightmares were always so livid, so realistic, and they were always the same. Her antagonist was the thing she feared above all, so frightening, she even thought it to be real. It was herself, yet it was differant. The body was frail and guant, the skin a sickly pale white and wrapped in scars and bruises. The face was ragged, covered in dried blood from the many wounds across it. Her eyes were sunk deep into her skull, bloodshot and red, surrounded by bags and purple circles. Her lips, stretched and thin, were formed into a permanent scowl. The hair was greasy and wiry, her clothes were dirty and torn, and her voice...it wasnt her own. This version of herself would scream and limp towards her, announcing the bloody details of a death to come, each death more disturbing than the last. The real Alyss would run, but the voice would carry after her, even as she lay awake in her bed.

Activities involved in: Alyss likes to keep herself occupied with many after school and in school activities. She plays volleyball for her school, and swims for the local team. She likes to sing and compose songs, as well as play guitar, and often recites them at the childrens hospital where she volunteers as an aid. She lacks real artistic skill, so she gave up on her art club recently, but has decided to try more literate forms of art: poems, music, etc.

Bio: At a young age, Alyss never seemed to be a school person intent on learning. In elementary school, she was often sent to the principles office for causing trouble and being in fights. She was, in a way, a real bully to younger and older students, and she never had any real friends. This lonliness soon led to her using alcohol in middle school, often sneaking in small bottles of beer onto the grounds. Only when her parents found out she was failing miserably and spent more time in detention than in class, did they actually take action. She was sent to therapy and youth groups, which seemed to have no effect on her until high school.

She cleaned herself up, raised her grades to a solid 3.8 gpa, and joined sports and activities. She had even made some friends, and learned she had a love for helping others. Her new self got her into a very high end vocational college with a full ride scholarship. She is interning at the childrens hospital, and is currently majoring in medical practice. She aspires to be a pediatrician.
