is the
Mysterious Figure
Before I go on I know that there is about a million topics on the Mysterious Figure. Let this topic be 1,000,001. You know when you have a feeling in your gut that your a 110% correct about something? Well here goes mine.
So we all know the Mysterious Figure (MF) is an optional boss from bbs who has an identity that is yet to be reveled. People have made many predictions on who the figure could be. I've seen and read many people's theory on the MF being AtW (Ansem the Wise), but allow me in this thread to take this theory even further.
Let me first say that AtW, next to Even, is by far my personal favorite character in the KH universe. He's a very wise man (hence the name) that also has a very Mysterious background. And let me also say that MF is defiantly my favorite boss.
But what do the two have in common? Why would and how could AtW possibly be the MF? Many people despise the MF and hopes he plays no big role in future installments. But its just not right to put the time into putting in an unidentified enemy, just to have him be "semi-canon". Why not just put in some heartless as an optional boss and save some time.
Other people have made some interesting speculations on who the MF is. Many people are clinching to the idea of time travel since the MF, as seen during the battle, defiantly has the power to control time. From this speculation people bring up the idea that it could be Luxord because of his affiliation with the element of time. I can't just shoot down this theory because when you deal with a game that focuses on magic, science, memories, and dreams, it could really be anybody or thing.
But let share some ideas that support my theory:
COMBAT
The battle is one that I think is really unique. This topic won't support my theory a ton since combat doesn't really link to you're desires or motives.
One thing that was pointed out in another thread is that the blades are held out in a "clock" position. Very cool fighting style I must say. Is this symbolic of anything though? Another reference to "clocks" would be the key blade you receive from defeating the MF, "No Name". But what is with all this referencing to clocks? Well if you recall were AtW built his lab after returning from the RoD you would notice the city indeed has large, and very important, clock tower. This is a very loose tie but one that interests me.
Also to tie together the blades he uses and the key blade you receive to AtW. Note how AtW's favorite treat was sea-salt ice cream (which sounds like a pretty disgusting flavor). But really note the color of all three items. Each share that light blue color. Yes another loose tie but one I think is very symbolic.

And then there is the actual fight. One thing I have against Luxord is his abilities seem very limited. If he really had all the abilities MF had why wouldn't he use them to save himself from being destroyed by Sora?
Other than key blade wielders and a few magicians in the KH universe, there really is only one person who I think could have all the magic abilities shown during battle. But how do we even know that AtW can fight? We don't. But one thing is for sure is that he was the Ruler of Radiant Garden. Typically speaking, rulers normally aren't weak or else they would get over thrown (even though AtW did get over thrown but it was the organization against one man).
Also to fortify this from a combat sense look at the apprentices. Assuming AtW is powerful in a magic sense, he could have possibly trained the apprentices in combat. Thus each member has their own element.

R.I.P almost perfect theory
Why?
Really I feel the biggest wall stopping my theory is simply "why?". Why would AtW attack TAV?
We know that AtW wanted to protect his world from darkness. We also know that he is someone who if very tech savvy.
One theory I had is possibly he attacked the trio so he could may be use the key blade to protect RG from the darkness. AtW can make people and even towns out of data. Possibly after defeating one or all three of the wielders he could of found some way to protect his world from darkness.
Though this idea is very sketchy.
Another silly theory was the possibility of another "secret" apprentice. One that wouldn't have been brought up in BBS. AtW knew it was important to save Kari. Who is to say that she is the only one he bothered saving? Or if AtW didn't save this apprentice then he would have gotten away. Most people who escaped went to Traverse Town, but I'd assume this person would probably go somewhere else seeking revenge. This would give an excuse to why the "secret" apprentice didn't show in any of the future games because he would have failed at defeating the Org.
Conclusion
It is completely fine if you don't agree with any of my ideas. I would be very interested in hearing some of yours. Even if you don't think its AtW I think it may be safe to assume that the MF at least has to be linked to him in some way.
Whatever happens I just hope they expand on it a bit more in the possible BBSV2.
tl;dr
AtW is a pimp.

Spoiler ShowThe most damning evidence I have against AtW is the black cloak the MF wears. Let me walk you through:
But how do we know that AtW just has cloaks sitting around? I believe that he would have a hefty supply of them because he certainly had some to spare when he helped out Rikku and Mickey in the end of CoM. Also other then Mickey, Rikku, and the organization, he is the only person seen wearing the cloak. OK the moogle in 358/2 days is seen wearing one too but I highly doubt that has anything to do with MF.
- Player fights the MF
- After the events of BBS Xehanort (or Xemnas) takes over RG
- Maleficent takes over the castle nine years before KH1. This would had given the the org about one year of ruling and around nine years to find a new place. Also this would follow up with how Aqua met AtW in the RoD (since it was stated time moves differently in the RoD)
- The org needs a new HQ, but in order to get there they need gear to protect them from the darkness (Xemnas could probably use his Key Blade Armour though)
- The org snatches some left over cloaks that AtW left behind
This can raise some technical eyebrows though. The org could possibly just sew together some of their own cloaks. May be there was a shop keeper in town that had a supply of them? There are a few possibilities on this one.
