Personality: Cecily is very open and childish, always wearing her heart on her sleeve. She identifies herself as girly, although she's very willing to get dirty, and even has worked on growing a vegetable garden before. She does whatever she can to help those she loves and hates being a burden, so she is grateful for whatever she can get. Still, she also is hyper and doesn't always think things through, hoping with just her naive optimism and everything will work out just fine. So when the reality of a situation hits her and her views are challenged or disproved, she can be hesitant and scared to move forward, and instead choose to cling to those close to her for support until she able to pick herself up again.
Short Bio: Cecily was the only child of a rather old couple, who had given up on having children. Not that they wanted any or planned on any, because they didn’t feel they could handle having another mouth to feed. After reaching a certain age, they figured they no longer had to try to actively avoid it anymore, which was how little Cecily came to be, an active, healthy baby girl. They would have gotten an abortion, but her mother hadn’t known the sicknesses were from a pregnancy and not some effect of aging.
Still, although she wasn’t planned, she was welcomed to her new family with open arms. It was hard to get by, just as they had predicted, and most of Cecily’s clothes were stitched together pieces of hand-me-downs, but Cecily didn’t mind that. She didn’t mind taking odd jobs to help make ends meet or trying to see what she could do to help around the house. After saving up a long time for the right cloth, her father sewed white dress, and her mother made her a bow to match for her twelfth birthday. It was the most beautiful thing Cecily had ever seen, and she treasured it as her favorite outfit.
Shortly thereafter, however, her name was pulled to be tribute. Since it was her first year as a candidate, but she was selected, the whole thing felt surreal to Cecily. As if it were some nightmare that she’d need to wake up from and she could just move closer to mommy and daddy to stay safe and warm and the monsters would go away. But as she was escorted to the stage, she noticed the stunning lack of monsters and how real this felt. No, this wasn’t a dream, but it was still a nightmare.
Mom, Dad, I don’t want to go, help me! She opened her mouth to say that, or even just to scream, but she couldn't seem to find her voice. She was so scared, all she could force out was a weak squeak and short breaths. Her thoughts became a jumbled up mess of "This is real, really really real" and "No, why won't anyone help me" and "I'm dead, this is it, I can't yet, no!"
She barely heard her parents calling out to her, and even then it felt like they were a million miles away. She didn't remember much else from right then, only that tears started running down her face and she finally managed to croak out "This is real..."

Short Bio: Some men are born with all the luck. Good looks, good grades, a great best friend who later became his girlfriend. Darren had everything easy.
He even managed to make it all these years without being called as a tribute once.
One day, shortly after he proposed to his girlfriend/childhood sweetheart, Sandy, and she agreed, the drawing came. She was as worried as she always was, and he was just as calm as he always was.
"How can you always manage to not worry about this at all? Our names are in there!" she said, elbowing him.
"Ow- because you're harder to face than anything I would run into if I was picked," Darren replied, pretending to recoil from her hit.
"Darren, I'm serious!" Sandy objecting, playfully punching his arm. "We're both in there 6 times, aren't we?"
"You worry too much! Yes, it's been 6 years... I'm 18 now! After this year, we'll never have to worry about it again! We have a lucky star up there guiding us, honey. Trust me there's nothing to-" Hearing his name being announced from the stage made him stop before he could finished his sentence. That... that had to be a mistake, right? This was supposed to be the day he never had to worry about things like this again... He and Sandy were about to get married and eventually start a family and... and...
And none of that matter as they dragged him up. He was too dumbfounded to fight back, while Sandy cried and yelled and tried to beat the officials off of him. "Darren! No!”
Finally he opened his mouth to speak before someone hurt Sandy. “Sand, it's okay! I'll make it back you to, I promise! My lucky star's still up there, it'll guide me right back to your arms! I... I know it!”
He hated lying to her, but it calmed her and himself down fairly well. Maybe... just maybe he would live through this. He could handle this just fine. He had to make it back, for Sandy and their future together. Staring up at the sky, even though there weren't any stars out yet he muttered “Please” and hoped his lucky star would hear him.
