In an interview, Masuda apparently explained that the Pokemon in Sword and Shield have higher quality animations (and trainers as well, judging from the trailers). This means that only one of two possibilities are happening: either Sword and Shield physically cannot fit all 8-900 Pokemon species, forms, etc. in it (thus meaning we will NEVER have all the Pokemon in one game on Switch), or they were crunched time-wise and had to make drastic cuts to get the game out in time (meaning an update will come later with the rest). People have been complaining about how the game looks, but between being open-world nad the characters being much more expressive, Pokemon having crazy battle animations and stuff, we MIGHT actually be pushing the Switch to a breaking point. Or, in the other scenario, Game Freak was pressured by Nintendo to release Pokemon this year.
Well with that in mind why not cut back on flashy animations, because this can honestly tick a lot of people off. looking into it further, pokemon home is honestly a prison for the large amount of pokemon that aren't in sword and shield. Think about it:
If you transfer in a pokemon from sun and moon into home that ISNT in the galar dex, it can't go anywhere, not to lets go, sun and moon, the virtual console games, anywhere.
That being said, shall we all put our heads together and come up with what pokemon won't make the cut from past games? I can see this as a fun little exercise.
I'll start:
Obviously we won't be getting every starter pokemon in the galar dex, maybe it will be an X and Y type scenario with galar and kanto starters only, So gen's 2-7's starters will get the axe,
Speaking of which, a lot of pokemon that have a gimmick to them (form change by item or otherwise special event) are no doubt hard to program, so we can cross off the weather trio, shaymin, giratina, keldeo, and of course, type null, zygarde and arceus.
Anyone else got any ideas?
