Ugh, that second one is too damn bright, and annoying. Fix that up.
The first one has potential, but needs some work done on it. Like effects, colors, etc.

You're doing good so far, keep it up, just experiment a bit more.

darkened enough? I was thinking it wasn't all too bright, but I think it's partially my fault for setting my monitor's contrast on 70%

Eh, I saw remove the light source completely, or put it on a low opacity. It's not working well :/

I think you should have moved the red to the blue area, so it can even out the colors.
