What is up with the black box?

Strictly speaking, unless there's another line or difference in the Japanese version, a 'dingbat in black' wouldn't necessarily have to be wearing a black coat like the Organization. For example, looking at our Union Leaders, Brain is definitely in black. You could probably say Skuld and maybe the others were 'in black' too.

In Japanese Pete says 黒いコートのヤツ (the guy in the black coat). Which, in the age of fairy tales, is a significantly limited pool of candidates.

I think the Master of Masters is inside the black box.

His eye is on the keyblade. That's all he really needs to see the goings on. As long as his eye is on the keyblade, and the keyblade keeps getting passed down to major players who further his plot, he can see what's going on. He doesn't need his body right now.

There will be a time for him to jump out of the box and essentially be "reborn", but as for right now, he's just biding his time, chillin'.
