A Final Mix is like a Special Edition/Director's Cut. Some new material added, but same basic game.

KH:FM and KHII:FM are essentially the English dubs of the game released in Japan with a bunch of new features thrown in that they couldn't fit the first time. It's so the Japanese fanbase can get a taste of the English voice acting with Japanese subtitles, and also so they get awesome new cutscenes that will never see the light of day Stateside ;_;.
