This thread is regarding video game companies that can make great games but for some reason just didn't deliver or deliver enough during this gen of consoles. So list the companies that were big disappointments this gen. Here are mine:
1. Lucasarts. Have proven in the past to make great games like Tie fighter, Jedi Academy, Rogue Squadron, and Knights of the old Republic (with the help of Bioware). But for some reason during this gen they decided sit out and do nothing. Yes, Force Unleashed 1 and 2 were good but compare these entries to last gen where we got Rogue Squadron, Battlefront, Jedi Academy, KOTOR, and many others. This gen only two good not great games that were insanely short and few below average Clone Wars games. Sad too. The Clone Wars is a big hit on TV and they could've easily made some Clone Wars themed games that used the rogue Squadron/Starfighter engine. But it turns they sat on their butts, did nothing except make a few quick cash ins. No RPGS, No Battlefront games!, No starfighter games. Nothing.
2. Square Enix. With this new tech, I was expecting them go all out. Alas, they too have done nothing. Yes, they gave us FFXIII, Star Ocean, and the Last Remnant. They are also working on FFVXIII. However if compare this to last gen, you will see that this is a very weak outing for Square. Last gen they gave us KH 1, 2, and COM, FFX, FFX2, FFXII, Star Ocean 3, Musashi, Radiata Stories, and many more. And sad thing is, there has been no plans or announcements for any games for the current gen systems. Yes, they are working for handheld systems but seriously that is pathetic for a company that has proven in the past to be much more and shoot for higher things.
