If anything, I'd say anyone who went through the original keyblade war went through something that might have been 10x worse than what Xehanort's doing now.

The guys in the war risked death, but death at least is a sort of freedom, a rest. Xehanort doesn't offer that to his victims.

A war that encompassed the entire KH universe had to have had a lot of horrific moments in it. It did result in the entire darkening of the KH-universe.

But it's all guesses so who knows.

IIRC the Keyblade War is precisely why King Triton in Atlantica was so distrusting of Sora. His whole comment on the keyblade indicates that he may have lived around the same time it occurred.
