The theories and discussions that went on for 3 years was not exclusive to japan. People imported the Japanese version. Video sites just for Kingdom Hearts existed before even Youtube. The release date being different outside of Japan doesn't really deter the amount of discussion there was. Final Mix/the full trailer was never released in the US until recently and it was still all over the internet being discussed.

this stuff was nich back in 2005, internet wasnt even that big. "video sites before youtube" this was stuff only a very small % of people were aware of or even had the capacity to browse. sure there can be lots of dicussion but it wouldnt between as many people as it was in the subsequent years
