Ps2 slimline problem!

Yo guys,
I just got a new ps2 slimline silver, since my bro has taken our old one when he moved out... anywho... i Can't get to my saves from my ps1 memory card... y the hells thats? and its not just mine it doesn't work on my friends as well, so its not a one off them. any know y the hell y?

dude the memory card is broken because on my slim my PS1 memory card works fine

hey guys, whats getting me is that my old broken Ps2 that only allows me to access the browse menu is detecting my memory card from the psone... does the card have to be a persific brand, or what? or do i have to do anything in setting cause it is starting to get to me... but if worse comes to worse i can us the psone... but so dusty and all the way down there and man....
