My friend's parents bought him a Nikon D40, and he's been letting me use it since he decided that he isn't as interested by photography as he used to be. I took some photos to get used to using it since it's way different than my old Minolta. Here are a few:

Just Chill, Dude. by ~BluesInDallas on deviantART
Think Peace. by ~BluesInDallas on deviantART
Take Flight. by ~BluesInDallas on deviantART
Landed by ~BluesInDallas on deviantART
The Path Less Traveled. by ~BluesInDallas on deviantART
Turn It To 11. by ~BluesInDallas on deviantART

I might post more as I sift through the pictures that I've taken.

D40's nice, I have one.

I love the balance and symmetry in Take Flight, and the crispness of Landed. Think Peace is an interesting concept, which I do quite like, but I think the shot is overly blurry. If anything, though, I would try looking out to take some more interesting shots, which, in all honesty, is something I need to work on too.

These are some nice shots, a few stand out, and it's good that you're thinking conceptually at least a bit, instead of just taking spontaneous shots.

Nice man.

Thank you, Dan. :]

Think Peace was actually the first photo I took with that camera, and, having only ever used a normal SLR and being with the camera for like 3 minutes beforehand, I'm actually pretty happy with how it turned out. I would've taken more shots, but my friend was a dick and kicked the guitar case that the BBs were on causing them all to scatter, and I was way too lazy to set them all up again.

I like the D40 a lot. I'm currently saving up for a D60 though. My girlfriend's best friend has one, and I liked it a lot.

These are all very good, but my personal favourite would have to be "The Path Less Traveled".

Second favourite is "Landed". :)

Isnt that the name of a poem ? I dont know if you should name your art off of poems if it is.

EDIT: Nope" The Road Not Taken " is the name by Robert Frost .

" Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
two roads diverged in a wood, and I --
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference. "

Kind of works with your photo though.

I really love the lighting in "Think Peace". Is the lightning naturally like that or did you set it up so it would be like that?

It was natural lighting. I don't have the money to buy anything to set it up like that, and I don't like fixing things that much in photoshop.
