I need serious help, I've been trying this for months. I need help getting to the castle in castle town. The gaurd won't let me through the gate. What should I do?

okay heres what you do after you go to the gate talk to evrey one around the inn go inside the inn youell see the headman of kasisagi town then head back to the gate thell let you in
Its not working, am I supposed to do anything else?
