Many people have played at least one Mafia on forums. This is mine. It is based off of Kingdom Hearts (obviously).

To play effectively, this game will require that you sign in at least once a day, or you may miss a "Window of Opportunity" to save yourself or another member. Therefore, participation is vital to everyone's survival. Activity is MANDATORY; if you fail to check in, or fail post within a 24 hour period without informing the game host (unless affected by an ability) will most likely result in you being modkilled. No jokes.


Game Basics

* Everyone is either a Hero (the people trying to stay alive and find Organization XIII during the day) or Organization XIII (the people trying to kill everyone else during night and day). There might be additional abilities for each player, but only those players will know. Heroes outnumbers Organization approx. 2-1, but Organization XIII have the advantage of knowing who all Organization XIII members are, and have some sweet abilities to match. There may also be secret or neutral characters who influence the story as it plays out. There is one character that must be killed for either side to win.

* Each player's character has a mana level and number of abilities they can use. The mana level is the number of mana points you currently have, and each ability has a cost associated with it, which may limit the use of each ability. Some abilities may raise a player's mana level; some may reduce it. Abilities are classified into 4 groups: Power, healing, scouting and stunning. Power players can kill other players or seriously affect their ability to perform. Healers can enhance/revitalize players. Scouters can scan abilities and stunners have disruptive effects which may paralyze or throw off an opponent’s strategy. The game has a fair balance of all these elements. The results of these abilities will be given to you in an "ACTION!" blurb.

* Every day the entire group votes on someone to kill and the person with the majority of the votes dies "in battle". Every night Organization XII votes to kill a Hero in an "ambush", but other players might be doing something else during the night as well. You can not vote yourself to be killed.

* There is no time limit within a "game" day until the narrator says when voting begins and ends. The first few days will last at least 24 hours. During the "game" day voting, the entire group posts within the thread who they want to kill in battle.

* After voting ends the narrator will let Organization XII know to PM their votes to the narrator to figure out who dies during the "ambush" at night.

* You are limited to talking within the game thread unless otherwise specified. Organization XIII will be given each others identities and will be allowed to communicate outside of the game thread.

* You are allowed to edit your votes before voting has ended (unless instructed otherwise), but once the time limit on voting has ended then votes are final.

* When someone dies (after the window of opportunity) their role will be revealed and whether they were a Hero or a member of Organization XIII.

* The dead can't talk. Don't talk if you're dead.

* If you're not playing in this game, please do not post in the actual game thread. It needs to be clean of any junk not pertaining to the game.

*After the days battle (day vote), there will be a "window of opportunity". Some players have abilities that allow them to act during this window, which can mean the difference between life and death for a ninja. There will also be "ACTION!" moments. When an "ACTION!" blurb is posted, it means a player has used an ability and the effects are being carried out. Each "ACTION!" will also have a "window of opportunity."

*Each "ACTION!" taken will have a "window of opportunity" for a player to respond, except during the window of opportunity during the day's battle. Unless your ability specifically states it is activated during the battle "window of opportunity", your jutsus are restricted to normal "window of opportunity" moments after ACTION! blurbs, besides when you choose to activate it.

*"ACTION" moments are calculated one at a time in the order they are received by the game host, but they resolve backwards, which is why participation and timing is so vital. If one player's ability is activated and it would make another player's action impossible, the original player’s is negated. (For example, if you activate an ability to kill a player, I can respond in the window of opportunity with my ability to drain your mana points. If this would mean you no longer have enough mana points to perform your attack, it will not go through.) These windows will only be open for a short amount of time, so lurking can definitely pay off!

Any abilities activated in the window of opportunity will be edited into and added to the ACTION! blurb they are activated in response to.


This is just the sign up thread. There will be a new thread for the game. In that thread, I will be repeating EVERYTHING that I just said above, as well as adding a little bit of new stuff.
