so ive been reading a lot of the threads in the forums and everyone is saying that family holds no connection in kh. but i swear, in kh2 didn't they say that ansem the wise kairi's dad or did i read that off a fanfic??

It's a common misguidedness as Kairi is a "Princess", so people connect her to being AtW's daughter because he was the ruler of Radiant Garden. However, Belle wasn't a Princess by birth (she got that status through marrying the Beast eventually, but in KH - that didn't take place yet), I don't think Cinderella was either, and Alice certainly isn't one.
Joined with the many princesses who are princesses but aren't PoHs, it's easy to see the logic behind Kairi being AtW's daughter is bull.
Not to mention that if she'd have been his daughter, or even granddaughter, going by how she was three to four at the time of BBS, I think he'd have known they were related and hence wrote about her something more affectionate in the SARs, instead of just describe her as a girl that lived on his world.

Wasn't she some rich little girl or something? In the movie she had a private tutor... Most likely not a princess though.
PoH are just beings with no darkness in them. Doesn't necessarily mean that that they literally are princesses. In fact, I'd say that a real princess would have more darkness in them than most people.

Her coming from a wealthy family doesn't make her rich, even less does it make her royalty. Point still holds.
Kinda have to agree with that, as even the PoHs who are true princesses don't necesarilly have the best personalities ever >_>
If AtW was her dad she would probably know it... but theres always a chance.

Kairi didn't have any Memories she could reach from her childhood. Sora had a better chance of knowing about the relation than Kairi what with what happened in KH1.
If anyone was to know - it would've been AtW himself, but alas, to him, she was nothing more than a girl who grew up on his world. He cared more about Mickey than her.
