Right, so my mom has these locks on the computer. And I usually download trials of Photoshop. So I have to ask her to log into her account (which is, in simpler terms, childlock free) so that I can do that. The only problem is with the CS versions. They dont work on the guest account. Everytime I start up Photoshop CS in the guest account it says, and I quote, "Current user account does not have the privileges to perform product activation. Run this application from a user account with administrative privileges or contact your system administrator."

I already activated it! And used it (wanna see the suckie pressie?)
It's like CS only works when I am logged in as her, which isnt good being that she isnt here most of the time -cough-
The other day I went into her control panel and tinkered with the remove/add program option to see if it'd do anything...and it didnt...what do I do from here? I so wanna make sigs again.
-rolls up in a ball and starts shaking-

You can't really do anything. If your profile on Windows (I'm assuming that's what you're using) does not have administrative privileges, then you aren't allowed to download programs, uninstall programs, or run certain programs

The only thing you can do is either ask your mom to give you administrative priveleges on your Account, but not on the parental filters. This way you can atleast use the program

I had a similar problem awhile ago, because I couldn't run any spyware or anti-virus programs, so I convinced my parents to give my account administrative privileges

Angels of darkness tread softly in the light.
There is only ONE other way..
I won't explain how, because I wouldn't exactly consider it 'ethical'.

It involves getting admin access for XP through a 'loophole'.
(I managed to crack an expired copy of XP with it.. ^.^ That's how I know.)

Just follow Muffin's advice.

Somehow I think you doubt my skill.

You want to know?

1. Reboot into safe mode.
(Accomplished by pressing F8 while XP loads.)
2. Choose 'command line' safemode.
(Should be an option for it.)
3. When brought to the login screen, most installs of XP have a secondary, hidden admin account. You should see the 'administrator' as a user account. Normally this isn't visible..
Log in as the administrator. You shouldn't have any problems, if it asks for a password, leave it empty. (Most installs don't put a password for it, when first installed.)
4. It will log you onto the system.. and bring up either the commandline or 'Windows Task Manager'. If you are familar with a commandline, you can use it. Else press alt+ctrl+del and bring up the task manager. At the top click on 'file' and then 'new task' to run executable files.. (It will run as if you have system Admin privies.) Just run the 'install' or whatever file you want to run. If you were even more 'skilled' you would set a password for the 'admin' account.. then you could log into that hidden account normally with that password. (It would require typing it in everytime you log in, though.) Doing this, you wouldn't have to boot into the commandline safemode. You would be able to have admin access at any time..

I know it's not exactly the easiest way to get admin privies.. but it makes it alot easier after logging in. It's highly recommended to disable this second account, because of stuff like this.

And here you doubt me... what a shame.

She just got pissed at me over a popup xD

i feel your pain =(

my mom freaked out cuz i got a virus, (mild one mind you) and it made a porn pop-up come every once in awhile....and one time she walked in my room and saw the computer while i was downstairs...she freaked =O

anyways, yes follow their advices, it wouldn't hurt for her to give you priveliges to use photoshop anyway, it's not like it'd kill her.

Bah, Azu already said how to use the hidden safe-mode admin account. Maybe next time I should read the whole thread before I waste 10 minutes typing up how to get around such things. Whatever... Anyways, the choice is "Safe Mode with Command Prompt" after you hit F8. Yadda, yadda the rest is explained. Honestly though, try to get your mom to let you have your own admin account. It really simplifies life, and it is likely that you'll need admin privelages later anyways.

*Waits patiently for Windows Vista...*

^^ not to spam but...is windows vista out already??

Well.. yes.. and no.

The beta versions of Vista are 'released'.
Although most copies in 'circulation' on torrent engines and other pirating circuits are either infested with viraii, or just simple don't work properly.
(There are a few.. but it's hard to find the 'good' ones.)

As for the official release.. it hasn't happened yet. It's supposed to be out this year though. ^.^
(More than likely either before summer or at the end of the year.)

More on Vista:
I read in an article a couple weeks back that Microsoft will be shipping it to computer manufactuer's (Dell, HP, etc) so that they can start making computers with that OS, and have them ready for the Holiday Season. As for the retail release for the public, the article also said around January.

If I can find the link, I'll edit... but don't get your hopes up.

I've heard Dec. 7 as a release date, but I'm thinking that is speculation. In any case, they better hurry up and get it out. I've been planning a new (64-bit) pc build for quite some time, but haven't wanted to waste money buying an OS I'll have to update in the near future. Also, as stated above, I don't want to risk screwing up my new build by downloading a jank OS. On that topic, I think I might go an open up a thread for discussion on that build. Don't you guys love trying to tell other people how to spend their money? :)
