Ok, so in my creative writing class we've started working on poetry, and I'd really like to know what you all think of what I've written so far, so please PLEASE comment on what I post here.

Writer's Block

Words come fast and easily they go
from writer to computer keys,
and on the screen appear to flow
until thoughts no longer come with ease.

The computer screen continues to glow
as shadows of ideas continue to tease
a writer who would like to bestow
on readers a story that will surely please.

So the writer leaves the blank page,
and looks for a new inspiration
that will release ideas from their cage
and show a new kind of imagination.

With a new perspective, and a feeling of glory
the writer returns to continue their story.

Again, please please please comment, critique, etc.

I'll post the next one within a few days

The flow is good. The only thing you might want to change would be spliting the last two lines from the third stanza and making a fourth. Either way it is good though.

Very nice. I really like the theme. You don't really see to much of things like that. :O

thanks for the feedback!

ok, so that first one was supposed to be in the Italian sonnet format, i think that's what she called it...idk. anyways, this one's the English sonnet, and it has a little bit of a different rhyme scheme to it

A day spent in the company of friends,
even though we don't always get along,
is always the best way to spend a day.
We may argue and get into a fight,
and say some things that we really don't mean.
But even if we're mad and cause a scene,
by the end of the day we'll make it right.
We will stop pushing each other away,
because together we truly belong.
Our injured friendship apologies mend,
for this friendship is surely a treasure,
one that no one is able to measure.

again, comments, critque, whatever you feel like saying is appreciated

You have original themes in your poems. Your last poem has nice meaning. It's good.
thanks! to be honest I really don't know how I come up with the ideas for them, they just kind of happen, lol. These two are probably some of my best, especially out of what I've written lately. The next thing I post will probably be either the Greek style epic poem or the Sapphic stanza that I wrote a couple weeks ago

To My Foreign Correspondent

To my foreign correspondent,
this fair greeting I send to you.
To my last letter you responded,
and now I look forward to meeting you.

It's been so long since last we saw each other,
almost two years I think, since that day at the beach.
It was on the day that I found a brother,
but since then you've been so far away, out of reach.

Now I have a time to look forward to,
the summer coming, when all will see
what I mean to you,
and what you mean to me.

I originally wrote this one a few years ago, but I can't find a copy of it anywhere, so I rewrote it a few weeks ago for one of my classes

Hero

A hero is a roaring lion,
who stands up for the helpless.
A hero is a wild stallion,
who gallops to the rescue.

A hero is a kindred soul,
who lends a helping hand.
A hero is a stalwart figure,
who stands when all else falls.

A hero is a soaring eagle,
who flies in to save the day.
A hero is an untamed phoenix,
who rises from the ashes.

A hero is a flying dragon,
who fights even when all is lost.
A hero is an undying legend,
who is never forgotten, written in stone.

The big house on the hill,
Shiny cars in the yard,
Fancy clothes in your room,
Think it'll take you far?

Chances are, you'll find out,
Life can be much simpler,
far more peaceful, without.

Remember the small things,
Be content with your won,
Live life with a smile,
Find somewhere to call home.
