This is just a short-short story, inspired by listening to Musique pour la Tristesse de Xion.
This is also the first piece of fan fiction that I've written in a very long time. *may contain spoilers for those who haven't completed 358/2 Days yet*

~ For the Sadness of Xion ~

Xion.

Xion, No. XIV of the Organization.

No...

Xion, No. i of the Replica Program.

Xion.

Here, we have a character who contemplates the meaning and significance of existing as a Nobody, which ironically, are beings who don't truly exist, who shouldn't even exist. Yet here they are as empty shells, standing between the lines of life and death, between being and non-being. Wanting to escape their sole purpose of living as denizens in the Realm of Nothingness, these Nobodies attempt in vain to gain back their emotions, their ability to feel again; their longing to be whole once again, for all they have left with them are their memories of what it was once like to be a complete human being.

But Xion never had any memories of her past. She doesn't truly know how it is like to feel, for all the emotions that Nobodies have are not genuine. They are merely façades, memories of remembering how it was like to feel.

Most Nobodies only remember certain emotions they felt strongly for. Some only remember rage and hate, while others remember happiness and sadness.

But Xion doesn't remember any, for she was never a true human being to begin with. She, unlike the rest of the Nobodies, was nothing but a mere puppet. And yet, how can she feel, or at least know the feeling of emotions that she so perfectly emulates them despite getting stuck with such an empty vessel?

Even Xion doesn't know this answer.

Xion is a special kind of Nobody in that her body was made from memories, from memories of One who was once a whole, human being of Light. Once Xion is broken, she will fade away as shards of memories, memories that belong to that once complete being of light. Xion will return to her rightful owner.

Despite not remembering anything from her past human life (since she never had one to begin with), Xion would sometimes receive strange flashbacks of a human life, of someone's human life. But just whose memories were they? Were they really hers?

And so, Xion began to question the meaning of her existence and her purpose in life.

"Who am I?
" she asks.

Yet, little did Xion know that she is actually the fragmented memories of a shattered Hero of Light.

And because she is the essence of a broken Hero of Light, her "emotions", as vain as they may be, are paradoxically genuine. While most Nobodies only pretend to feel or wish they could feel, and only look out for themselves in the end due to lack of real empathy, Xion is different. Xion's emotions resonate from the memories from someone who was still living, because little did she also know that that Hero of Light is her other half who is in deep slumber due to incompleteness. Xion is also an incomplete, whose existence is nigh impossible, yet became possible due to paradoxical reasons. It is impossible for two halves of the same being to exist at the same time; one must go back to the other in order for that other half to awaken.

So Xion knew, she finally knew what her purpose was. She knew what she had to do, and that was to become whole again with her broken half. That way, she can finally exist as a true being.

However, in the process of merging with her other half, she will be forgotten by anyone and everyone who has never encountered her in their lives, for she was nothing but memories anyway.

And so, Xion, finally completing her purpose as a Nobody, has fully merged with her now complete half, while the rest of her essence fades away into Oblivion.

The Hero of Light has finally awoken, whole and lively, and Xion...now long forgotten.

No one knows who she was, what she sought to find, what she fought for.

No one remembers her anymore. Not even her friends remember her anymore, despite promising each other that they will remember her. But then again, friendships between Nobodies is as vain as the fake emotions they emulate.

Xion never existed in the first place. She was never meant to be in the first place.

All that took place, was just a scattered piece of a far-off memory, a figment of the imagination.
